I never saw so much of our country then by watching videos of foreigners who come to cycle in our country. You show us the nicest spots. I grew up cycling to school, swimmingpool, whatever. We never thought 'big' of it. And certainly never thought people from other countries would come to Holland to .... cycle! I saw a video of people coming from Japan! Cycling and looking at cows. It looked like they had the time of their lives! Thanks for the nice video.
Hi Ant. We're going to the Netherlands next month and have been looking for a website or better yet an app which is in English (not Dutch) and which guides you through the national cycle paths. If you could help, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Paul
Hi Paul, www.fietsknoop.nl & www.hollandcyclingroutes.com are the two I'd recommend. We got maps sent to us in the UK and they were useful when planning the overview but we tended to just use the fietsknoop app for wayfinding during the day - never got lost once!. Have a great trip!
Delft is on the outskirts of Rotterdam where it meets the Hague..., in the west of the netherlqands, not in the south..., the south that would be Maastricht for example..
Thanks Allard - Appreciate in Dutch it is Hoek van Holland - however, we ignorant English have anglicized it and so to us it is the Hook of Holland - perhaps similar to the French calling London 'Londres'....
Nice video! at 5:29, the towering highrise building to the left of the church (the one that's in scaffolding), to the left of that highrise is a 10 story appartment building, that's where I live! By the way, ignore all the people that tell you helmets aren't safer, that are the people that fell on their head and now say stupid things ;-)
A great place to live! The helmet-thing certainly gets the Dutch excited! I never wore a helmet growing up - they didn't exist and I cycled everywhere. There was less traffic then I guess.
@@Antagonistic Well you know, the way I see it (I must admit I don't have a helmet myself) a helmet is safer in 99% of the time! And for people that don't believe that; Just take an identical twin, give only one a helmet and hit them both on the head with a hammer. And then see wich one feels better! ;-)
How many times did those helmets saved your life while riding in the Netherlands ? I guess never, because this isn't the UK , here we don't need helmets......
We don't wear them but if it makes you feel more save it's up to you (I never know if it's save or safe. I think safe?) but realise it can give you a false feeling of safety.
Exactly Saartje, it make you FEEL safe. In my younger years I've fallen of my bike many many times , because of 'stunt riding' and my two front teeth are fake because of a blocked front wheel.... A helmet could not prevent that, only if it was a full size motorcycle helmet. In all other falls I only had some bruises/abrasions on my hands and knees but that's part of growing up as a boy. (het is inderdaad safe met een F , geschreven met een V gaat het om een kluis of om iets op te slaan)
@@Linda-hs1lk Studies indicate that wearing a helmet on a bike gives you, and those around you, a false sence of security. Meaning people will take more risk because they think they're protected. And this doesn't only apply to the helmet wearing cyclist but also the car drivers around them. Test has shown that automobilists give less room to people with helmet then those without. Because they also think the cyclist is safer with the helmet, thus permitting them to take more risk Check this link: ruclips.net/video/RWhMEkMtLy0/видео.html

Good to see you decided to ditch the helmets. Feels much better to cycle without them I reckon
I can never have enough of these videos. Thanks for uploading.

One small point - the numbers (22 & 25 mentioned) aren't cycle path/track numbers, but the point number you're heading towards.
That's useful, thank you.
@@Antagonistic you might benefit from the app. Both available for Apple and Android.

Once..
Hook of Holland = Hoek van Holland. Hook = Corner. Look at the map.

London = Londen(Dutch) sounds like Londun. Just a game. Enjoy.
they call it Londres…

What is with the spacehelmets??? Tour the France??? LOL
the helmets are coming hide your women and children...lol..
The country by the way is called the Netherlands, never ever "Holland". :)
Don't be pompous. So far the tour was in Holland proper.
Depends on where you live. Hoek van Holland, Delft is Holland. I was born in Holland though but I live in The Netherlands.
Bullshit.
