The Holmes image is Titled, "Holmes gave me a sketch of the events" and is an Illustration (1892) by Sydney Paget for Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Adventure of Silver Blaze," p. 186. It is a photographic reproduction of a watercolor.

Correct. Well done. Did you notice the No Smoking sign, while Holmes is doing exactly that....?

I know the book about messing about on boats. The image and words are from the children's book "The Wind in the Willows", by Kenneth Grahame. In the story, Mole and Rat are rowing up the river in Rat's boat. They are discussing nautical things and life in general when Rat is heard to utter, "Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing... about in boats - or with boats. In or out of ’em, it doesn't matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that's the charm of it. Whether you get away, or whether you don't; whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in particular; and when you've done it there's always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you'd much better not."

Right again. And yes, very true words. I'm a boater myself (canoe, kayak and cruiser) and spend many idle hours on our beautiful rivers here, passing through England's heartlands...

Thank you for the guided tour, I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately I'm unable to visit due to living in Tasmania, I did however find your shop on ABEbooks.

Nice to see the shop again. I would have guessed the first painting in the window was from Wind In The Willows? My parents bought me this in the 1960s - I read a lot as a kid - and I never ever read it! I suspect it got inherited by younger siblings as I don't have it now.

@@thebookman4126 I don't tend to read much fiction but might be time to dig up an old copy and do just that. Don't really do "new". I'll check your stocks first :)

Hello again, I was just thinking about your bookshop. Very nice to revisit it through a video-tour like this. Next time I'm in England I'll try to come by. Noone knows when really, but let's hope it won't be too long now. Love the shop.

Wow, thanks! Although it's not actually quite as tidy as I usually keep it as lockdown has made me slip a bit. You might also have noticed my tie was just a couple of millimetres off centre too...

I enjoyed the tour of your bookshop. When you said, it is a popular thought to take back the American colonies, did you mean the 13 original colonies or did you mean to include all 50 states, territories, and protectorates. I ask because there are some states, we will give back to you. [I live near the British Fort Miami's (1794) on the Maumee River in Toledo, Ohio.]
