Question: isnt the use of a VPN illegal. Doesn't the wechat App know, that there is VPN installed ?
Well it's a grey area, all foreigner I know never got in trouble for it. It's basically tolerated. Also companies, university's etc r using VPNs for their work. I have a link of a good1 I use myself in bid description

Ja viele machen es so, sie haben 2 Handys kaufen sann für eines eine lokale SIM und geben sich hotspot auf das andere Handy. Ich persönlich aber halte nichts davon, da ich keine Handtasche habe und egal wo ich bin habe ich meine lokale SIM im handy und gut. ABER ich habe auch Dual Sim Handy.

Thanks for the suggestion, the issue would be tho that's all in Chinese then. Some WeChat groups are in English from foreigners for foreigners but the good ones are always full (500 max)
@@OlisBigPicture I guess there must be some translations app that allows for some kind of comprehension of these Chinese social groups where it's easy to exchange info and feedback on any subject . It would be good for someone to know ahead b4 arriving in China. It seems there's so many apps to handle Chinese characters, there must be some solution to allow at least a rudimentary level of comprehension.
@@bobmorane4926WeChat has a built-in translator and it works very well. Weibo International version also has a translator but the translation results are not good enough, so you may need other translation apps.

Hey glad to hear it was helpful! 1. If Transport isn't shown, where u see inside alipay the icons of mini apps you should see a "more" as well, it should be there. 2. iphone with apple maps is English but there's so far no Android map in English except you can try maps.me it's offline and English accuracy not so sure tho.
@@OlisBigPicture cool. Got it for question 1! Sorry question no 2 should read “does Baidu translate app work offline? Do you recommend any other translation app that work offline? It’s a shame that Google translate doesn’t work in China as I heavily rely on it when travelling to non English speaker countries.
@@nasdanrose4802 hey, I don't use baidu translate therefore I don't know. However google translate offers offline translation, just download the needed language pairs in the app

Hello, for taxi app use "DIDI" if can't find the app in your AppStore use it in mini program in WeChat or alipay as I show in my app guide video. Major Food delivery apps are unfortunately all in Chinese.

How can I find file transfer, when it's not listed in the chat screen?
You could just click on the magnifying glass sign on the top right corner and search "file transfer". Then you will find it in the top hits.
Also it should show up forst time you login on pc/mac with WeChat

The train app? Yes can be used but never got it to work for me, because my account registration failed therefore wechat or trip.com with English Service and interface was the easiest choice

Pardon, I live in Beijing and I am able to link my US debit card in WeChat Pay (for what it's worth). It's actually easier than adding my bank cards in AliPay (seems to be linked more easily, I mean).

I was able to link my MasterCard Debit Card (C24 Bank). But I am not able to test WeChat Pay/ AliPay outside China
