    Where do you buy the ticket? Is it before or after the security check? And can you buy it on the same day as your departure ?

    After exiting the platform and going to exit gates, can you acces the station hall? Or do you need to scan something again? Its just hard for me to understand exiting the trains in China haha, also, is there separate entrances and exits to and from platforms? What if I would need to have a transfer?

    • @tomtan9942
      @tomtan9942 7 месяцев назад

      No, once you pass the exiting gate, you are literally outside of the station. Going to the hall means to go through security check , id check et al again. If you are to transfer, you just need to find the transferring lane or gate after getting off the train. There is a transferring route in all stations, which means that you can easily go back to the hall without existing the station. So kindly ask the stuff for help before getting off, they will help you to find that way.

    I have a 7 hour train ride with two large suitcases in 2nd class, will this be a problem? is there good storage options?

    • @ze9947
      @ze9947 9 месяцев назад +3

      At the connection point of each compartment, there is a dedicated space for passengers to place bulky luggage. This location is very convenient, and passengers can easily stow their large suitcases here. Furthermore, behind the last row of seats in the compartment, there is also additional open space available for storing large luggage. You can bring a wire lock to secure your luggage to the luggage racks or lock them together

      there are oversize luggage storge rack in almost each car but not everyone, also there will have more space after last row on almost each car, sometimes these space are full, just tell the train crew you need help about luggage

      I traveled in July of 2023, a couple months ago, I had one suitcase and one carry on, and a shoulder bag, they didn't check the size of my suitcase. I was on the second class though. I never saw any suitcase was checked for the size.

      so we can bring 29inch suitcase? any space to put the big suitcase?

      Officially, there are restrictions on the number and size of luggage, but in reality, nobody checks. As long as you can carry it, you can bring it onto the train.

    Sadly the app is completely useless. Almost all features from the Chinese version are missing in English. The English website always has an error message - not even kidding. "the system is busy" my ass. And emails never arrive, so verification is impossible. Phone numbers only accept China/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan. Resetting the password is impossible. AND there is no useable customer support to non-Chinese-speaking customers. No email, nothing. Only chinese-speaking phone number. And you cannot register with the same passport, even if it isn't verified yet, with a new account. Pure incompetence and a huge annoyance...

      This is not my experience. I used the 12306 website and app. The app is connected to my WeChat, so I can buy tickets right away (beside WeChat there are a few more other payment options, incl. credit cards) and enter (and exit) with my passport. Nowadays I believe there are no tickets anyway, just passport scans.
      And you are right, the Chinese 12306 has WAY more functions. So after you got your ticket you can switch the app to Chinese - and use the QR code from your phone to enter and exit the station.
      Note also, that you can buy tickets (you only get a receipt, not ticket, you still enter with your passport) at the counter, sure, but counters can be busy and sometimes you need to lign up for 30 Minutes or more.
