That's the beautiful woman who saved my life and doesn't even know it. Laura Jane Grace is the greatest musician to ever live. Fuck technical talent, fuck musical complexity. This is the most raw emotion I've ever heard in a song and it is impeccable.
Jay-era videos usually drive me nuts because of his “hamster on amphetamines” tempo but he was surprisingly reserved here. A great version of an awesome song.
This is the best version of this song, one of my favorite songs of all time and easily my favorite Against Me! song. If there has ever been a band that needs to "capture their live sound" on record, it's them. The songs on record are good, but live they are fucking amazing. There is a rawness and an emotion that is missing from the recorded versions, where as the live ones are incredible.
I am surprised at how much people disregard this album... Yes, White Crosses was a change compared to the usual stuff by Against Me, but Transgender had a lot more of the energy the older stuff did, and you have to applaud Laura for writing such songs with so much meaning and coming out so positively to changing genders.
Jay Weinberg was obviously a fan of Against Me! then stabbed Laura in the back when he quit the band. What a jerk. Anyway, Atom Willard is much more better.
+Rachel Dumais Got to meet Atom (and Laura!!!) a few weeks ago and aside from being an absolute beast on the drums he's also one of the coolest people I've ever met.
