Big bonus with indoor bonsai is less insect problems and people thinking they are so perfect they are fake. Downsides, Lack of wind creates weaker thin branches, windows burn, low light stretch. For me bonsai includes the tree, the pot, the placement. The minimalist interior give bonsai a place of stature while a busy room removes grandeur, just as outdoor settings. Cool video, love the connection with nature and doing your best to have that at home.. ✌️❤️🇳🇿
Yes, I agree. Grow lights can help out greatly with this. Indoor Bonsai for me was something I started with out of necessity, but it is still nice to have a tree inside just to enjoy it :)
Thanks for such helpful information... just set up my grow light in a closet and am ready to start bonsai indoors for the winter. Been working outdoors for this summer but looking forward to tropical. Thanks again!
Huh, I always thought plants "survived" winter, I never thought they actually needed a winter to live. Also, what species is that at 3:45? I love the small leaves.
Temperate trees do. It’s called Zanthoxylum Piperitum. This tree was actually the only casualty I had this winter, as it had a huge pest problem and died while I was away on vacation. It’s one of the more difficult species to keep in temperate climates, that shouldn’t stop you from trying if you like it!
Thank for this wonderful video. It did help so much. One suggestion . The map what you used for India might can effect some Indian sentiments. I do request you to change it if possible. Other wise this information is awesome 😁.
Thank you. Can you explain to me what could be offensive about the map? I just pulled it as a free stock photo, I don’t even remember where. I unfortunately can’t change the video in hindsight but I could pin a comment that explains that I am now aware of whatever is offensive about the map and say I didn’t know when I made the video.
Don’t know the specs by heart tbh but I recommend going for growing lights made for Cannabis growing and then set it to one of the lower light settings
Dope bonsai trees, never thought you had to keep up with its humidity 🤔. How long are the periods that you have the plastic bags on the plants? Couple hours or days? How often is that process repeated? And how long should the plant be out of the bag? Im thinking of getting a Ficus bonsai. Very helpful video 🙌
Is it reasonable to move topicals from evening display in my Livingroom to a grow room (light, humidity, circulation) overnight and then back during the day? Or will the change cause complications?
They do need some time off from the light though. And I wouldn’t change the light your tree gets all the time. I’d give your trees 8-10 hours of no light to low light
I’ve been doing Ikebana for a while and I always do my best work listening to this avatar lofi ❤ taking up bonsai soon after I get my first kit for Mother’s Day 😊
In your opinion will a dwarf gardenia bonsai do well indoors? Mine has been growing beautifully since I got it 3 months ago. Flowered once so far and no dead leaves. New growth shows constantly. My home is kept at 70 F all year round. Do you think this will continue for me or will I eventually have trouble? I have it on a east facing window sill. I water and mist leaves every day…and leave a little water in the drip tray.
@@Lilliancooks in my experience lots of trees do well inside during the growing season. The challenge is usually keeping them happy inside when it’s cold outside. I hope it works out for you, let me know how it goes!
Usually just a couple of weeks and then I will take it out again. Works well and tbh Bonsai is not about admiring the tree at all times but rather doing what’s best for the trees development
I've seen that ppl can keep pine trees or cherry blossom indoors Seen in some asian movies mostly in ancient times like ancient japan Some are placed in the corners somtimes its dark idk how they live longer
Cactus and Succulents still go through their dormancy period indoors even in the warmth, due to the photoperiod they are receiving, i grow many cactus and this is the case, photoperiod is much more important than the temperature, so why is this not the case with bonsai? After all light is the main contributing factor to photosynthesis, is it not more the humidity that causes the trees the problems? (I am not experienced with bonsai, although would like to try it out to add to my cactus and succulents and herb growing) so its not something i know alot about.
My friend got a Bonsai start kit from her job that I planted for her but I don't know much about repotting and other things. If anyone has any pointers, please reply!!

Name of the tree on 3:43 ?, it looks leguminous, like an Acacia or Mesquite, beautiful!
Zanthoxilum Piperitum
A very helpful video for a beginner like me who knows absolutely nothing about bonsai trees

going to try the bag technique on my ficus ginseng, I don't have clear bags but I have grayish-brown bags, will they work?
Transparent are better because they let more light through which means more evaporation of water and less likelihood to drown your plants in water
