    Awesome. I wonder if the electrons of the gold atoms also have an impact on the path of the alpha particles.

      I'd imagine electrons are so much more delocalized than the Gold nucleus, and coupling it with the fact that an alpha particle is so much more massive, dense while carrying immense kinetic energy; that the electrons of the Gold atom would have a negligible effect on the alpha particles

    Experiment was not originally performed by Rutherford but by Earnst

      Rutherford's full name was Earnest Rutherford

    • @akshatsharma3081

      It was performed by his two assistants

      It was preformed by Geiger and Marsden. Though Rutherford had interpreted what their experiment meant.

      It came from a collection of old physics movies put out by the American Association of Physics Teachers many years ago. After searching for a while, I couldn’t find anything about the Rutherford experiment that was very interesting on RUclips.

    Who is the scientist? He doesn't look like Rutherford (at least not with the images google showed off)

    • @mmoverman
      @mmoverman  4 года назад +5

      Probably just some random actor sometime in the late ‘50s.
