    1981 Back in Black Tour in Knoxville - 13 years old, standing against the gated barrier in the front row (before the laws required seats on the floor), Angus sweating on us. It was my first "real" rock concert. Angus has been an inspiration ever since. What he plays sounds easy at first, but his attack and phrasing are truly unique. When a song plays, within the first few notes, we ALL know it's Angus. That, to me, makes a guitar icon. Then to play it while jumping around doing 240mph on a stage? Man I love that guy! Thanks Robert!

    Angus was the entire reason and inspiration for me ever picking up a guitar when I was a kid! Angus is a master but Malcolm was just as important to the AC/DC sound. I can't play lead like Angus but I love messing around with Malcolm's rhythm style. You should do a Malcolm video!

    Angus and Malcolm always have some very subtle substitutions in their chords, riffs, and lead lines that I'll discover I've been missing since the 80s. When I finally learn how the two of them actually are playing certain things, it's like I can't believe I didn't pick up the nuances all these years. It's so obvious and unacceptable to play them incorrectly now-- as I did for so long.

    That's a really good insight on the size of Angus' hands. I play a super wide neck (1 7/8" @ nut) because of my big hands. This allows me to play cleaner ... but it makes some stuff really tough ... like three notes per string scales on the low strings closer to the nut! May have to get this course too! Hello from Kansas City, Missouri Robert. Great Video as always. In my humble opinion, the key to Angus Young's style is his Great Question and Answer Phrasing combined with Great Rhythmic Time and Feel. For anyone that's interested about where this style came from please check out T Bone Walker, B.B. King and Eric Clapton. Thanks.

    • @michaelstevens8
      @michaelstevens8 Год назад +1

      @UserUli Your absolutely right that Angus was influenced by Chuck Berry. Let's also remember that Chuck Berry said that he got almost everything he did from T Bone Walker. The difference is T Bone Walker was Blues/Jump Blues whereas Chuck Berry was Rockabilly/Rock n Roll. The point is, all of these players including B.B. King and Eric Clapton and others have great Rhythmically Tight Question and Answer Phrasing. It's a Critical part of all of their Styles, and others, that is sometimes overlooked when an Individual Lick is taught. Thanks.

    This video is having a dubious impact on me. Once again, I am tempted to get an SG standard. That’s not good for 2 reasons. (1) 2023 is supposed to be the year where I aim to conquer gear acquisition syndrome, and (2) I’ve already got a guitar that is top heavy and prone to neck dive. It’s a Telecaster, but it has similar electronics to an SG. The neck dive is caused by the body being lightweight from its semi-hollow chambering coupled with having a standard Telecaster neck with two string retainers on it.
