omg, this band is sick! every one of them. this is how you do it.. i can totally hear every word he's saying & understand the story. and that's not even mentioning that the song itself musically is insane! some crazy modern take on a classical chord progression and phrasing. day-yum!
+S.E. Hershman Refreshing to hear and see real talent emerge from the wave of incredibly talent less trash that is being spewed out for the past 10 years or more.
If you look at all the comments, you'll realize that in the beginning it was all Danish people commenting. Then it's was mix English Danish. Then mostly English. Shows you just how successful they are becoming. Love it!
I love this song. I can't relate to it in any literal sense but the raw emotion in the way he sings and the lyrics are so well written. And having Moonlight Sonata as the supporting melody -- OMG, pure genius.
Lukas is such a great singer and songwriter. I listened to all his songs a few days ago and tbh they gave me roller-coaster emotions. I cried and laughed. Plus, he is a great story-teller and I felt his pain through his voice. Such a precious gem!
When Lucas was writing that song his best friend was just been shot in gang shooting and when he recorded it, Lucas crying when he recording that song, is why are you can feel the pain in the song.
Wow, first time i hear this song and its beautiful and amazing, sang with such a passion, something that unfortunately its rare to find. Gave me goosebumps
Man græder jo nærmest hver gang, man hører denne sang. Hvor er I bare fantastiske, Lukas og band. Det handler om kærligheden, om menneskets stolthed og sjæl. Det er rørende, det er vidunderligt og det er stort! Tak for det og kærlige tanker til den person, sangen er skrevet til.
I couldn’t help but cry in the climax part. When I first heard this song , then I was studying English in Dublin. I had no friends and heavy loneliness.. gloomy weather as well .. but I loved this song 😅🥲😜

Difícil describir lo que transmite este artista con esta bella canción. No se trata sólo de su gran voz y con que perfección la utiliza, ya que eso es más que evidente, sino del sentimiento, la emoción que pone en la interpretación. ¡Impresionante! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
I got the letter back Saying I can come and see you I really don't have time But promised that I'd come and see you You're sitting far away But do you know I sometimes need you I know that you deserve The time you got of all the people I know you never bent Even in the strongest wind I really wished to every God That you were innocent I'm happy and I'm proud That I can still call you my friend I hope you read the letters And the magazines I send You got your head up But I don't have my hopes high I know that you're a good man And that's what, brings a tear to my eye I'm like, oh I hope you know you're not alone in that hell And there ain't, no No one can change it No one can do it better than yourself I was sixteen And we used to roll together You told me back then That I was meant for something better You know in our life Nothing's gonna change but the weather It seems it's been forever Since we really stuck together I'm living a crazy life I wish that you could see it too See a thousand people sing My song from me to you Every time I sing it You know I'm bleeding too Man I accept you as you are No I don't need the truth I got my head up But I ain't got my hopes high See I know that you're a good man And it brings a tear to my eye I'm like, oh I hope you know you're not alone in that hell And there ain't, no No one can change it No one can do it better but yourself I reminisce to back then, when it was you and I Smoking big fat blunts, drive in movie night They tried to get you down, but you refused to die They tried to give you angel wings, but you refused to fly You'd rather stay in hell, and take your time in jail They're only punishing a soul that you will never sell We both know that we owe nothing to each other But can you blame me, for loving and missing my brother Oh, oh I hope you know you're not alone in that hell And there ain't, no No one can change it No one can do it better than yourself Oh, oh I hope you know you're not alone in that hell And there ain't, no No one can change it No one can do it better than yourself
phenomenal singer, if you actually looking for a true talent, you found it - glad to see such people coming out to the big publicity out of underground, such talent should be heard all around the world
I am a 80`s 90`s oldschool gangstarap and hiphop kid, rap nowadays suck and i am glad that it does. otherwise i would not expand my horizon with in music. And i am glad that i did, i listened to mama said and so on i came to this song. i listened to this song realising afterwards that i did not make a sound or had any feeling for everything around. If a song can do that to me you have an instant fan Lukas graham.
Amos Lee, David Gray, The Avett Brothers, Gregory Alan Isakov, City and Colour, Ben Harper...To name just a few lol. I grew up in the 80's listening to all kinds of music from rap, punk, new wave and heavy metal. These are mostly blue grass/indie style bands but I appreciate the fact they play their own instruments and it's not over produced. Enjoy. Mat Kearney is also good. Oh yeah if you wanna rock MUSE!! Thank God we have RUclips and Pandora to find new bands.
Wow you can definitely feel the pain. That’s what makes music so damn beautiful , you will never know the pain someone is in unless you’re in their skin, but with music , for a breif second , it makes sense to the people who need to hear it . When I first heard the song I was grieving the loss of my mom , I wasn’t aware of the song actually being about someone you love going to prison . Now that I’m older I listen to this after experiencing it myself and I truly do feel what he’s saying
***** no I know they put the lists and albums back up!!^^ they had them there at first (duh) but then took them away with their mini "comeback" with the singles and stuff, then after THAT they put the old albums baaack yayy awesomeness amazingness happiness yayy^^
All of his songs connect me in a special way as he sing with emotion and his songs always reach me on a deeper level but this... this has reached me on a much deeper level than the rest and i never knew one could reach this deep through just their majestic voice like i can feel him his emotions everything i just find it astonishing how he conveys his emotions through his amazing voice and that too clearly. Thank you Lukas and I thank you for connecting us all through at a deeper level through your majestic voice ad i am sure many other fans will agree
Agree with all what u have said. I have been listening to "7 years" for years because brother has been playing it over and again but I only discovered the band just a few days ago. I listened to all his songs and tbh my heart and soul were hit by his emotions, tone of his voice, lyrics. He's such a great singer and songwriter. Indeed, a genius and genuine artist.
I can't listen to this song without feeling emotionally wrecked.
Same here...
me too!

It reminds me of my bro
His music is so deep, and his voice just makes you wanna cry
The shakiness of the emotion in his voice literally makes me cry..... And I'm a grown man....

you're not the only one in need of tissue....sniff sniff
Empathy, my friend. You have empathy. Hold on to it. It is sad to say that not many people do.
GAII😂
No over acting, no faking, simply real passion out of an amazing singer. Love this band!
World : 7 years is the best song ever
Me:
This is arguably a top 3 live performance just off vocals I’ve ever watched, it’s not often the live performance sounds better than the original
Denmark can be proud, what a great work of art :-)
thanks! (im a dane)

I was living for almost 9 years in Denmark and Lukas was one of the first greatest that I have discovered.
Another year and I am stronger!!
A few days before he preformed this song, he lost his dad. That's why he sounds emotional
PiakGem not true.

Uhm the cops shot him. He was in a shoot out with the cops
@@iwolfdk I don't think you read his comment right 🤔

Uhm No he died from a heart attack..
@@TheDavidbeckham7 this song isn't about his dad it's about his friend. He's emotional about his friend
This is the deepest song I’ve ever heard. He wrote a song about one of his best friend who’s in prison. Daymn

Im Honored that you enjoy our fellow danish phenomenon Lukas Graham. We all love him very much...
I'm always impressed on how he totally re-purposed the melody of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata's First Movement for this.
I love this band so much, I always come back
Exactly how I thought it would be! The "Can you blame me for loving and missing my brother" line, always gets me!!!
10 anos depois e eu estou aqui. Lukas mudou muito (aparência), mas continua arrepiando meu coração com suas músicas
Oh simmmmm

Lukas a national treasure. I'm so proud to be able to call myself Danish.
such a sad beautiful song
@Ben Tashoff mm ?.
Danmark har seriøst brug for flere artister som Lukas Graham. Han skider på Janteloven hvilket er præcis hvad der skal til. Vildt fedt!

One of the best live performances in my opinion. So much feelings went into that performance and song
A really beautiful song - the meaning is so clear for all those able to perceive it. One of the most beautiful singers of late.
When his voice cracked I cried.😭😢😭😢
My tears are just rolling down...this is so heartfelt and deep...

i love this song. His voice is so amazing.
I got the letter back
Saying I can come and see you
I really don't have time
But promised that I'd come and see you
You're sitting far away
But do you know I sometimes need you
I know that you deserve
The time you got of all the people
I know you never bent
Even in the strongest wind
I really wished to every God
That you were innocent
I'm happy and I'm proud
That I can still call you my friend
I hope you read the letters
And the magazines I send
You got your head up
But I don't have my hopes high
I know that you're a good man
And that's what, brings a tear to my eye
I'm like, oh
I hope you know you're not alone in that hell
And there ain't, no
No one can change it
No one can do it better than yourself
I was sixteen
And we used to roll together
You told me back then
That I was meant for something better
You know in our life
Nothing's gonna change but the weather
It seems it's been forever
Since we really stuck together
I'm living a crazy life
I wish that you could see it too
See a thousand people sing
My song from me to you
Every time I sing it
You know I'm bleeding too
Man I accept you as you are
No I don't need the truth
I got my head up
But I ain't got my hopes high
See I know that you're a good man
And it brings a tear to my eye
I'm like, oh
I hope you know you're not alone in that hell
And there ain't, no
No one can change it
No one can do it better but yourself
I reminisce to back then, when it was you and I
Smoking big fat blunts, drive in movie night
They tried to get you down, but you refused to die
They tried to give you angel wings, but you refused to fly
You'd rather stay in hell, and take your time in jail
They're only punishing a soul that you will never sell
We both know that we owe nothing to each other
But can you blame me, for loving and missing my brother
Oh, oh I hope you know you're not alone in that hell
And there ain't, no
No one can change it
No one can do it better than yourself
Oh, oh I hope you know you're not alone in that hell
And there ain't, no
No one can change it
No one can do it better than yourself
Imagine the weeknd on this....
