Thank you you were very thorough. I recently spent a fortune getting rid of ants. Along with the cost mentally this took an even greater toll. I never knew such a small insect could be so devastating psychologically.
Same here. I am looking at some that are in my room now and the gel bait I use is the most infuriating thing ever. it is not ant-trax and can spill which it did this morning now they are having a party down on the floor. Hope this method works out.
Years ago about 1980. 1990 terro made liquid which had arsenic in it. It worked so well. You put a few drops on a small piece of cardboard the ants would feed on it and by the next morning they were gone. I truly believe it was the arsenic that worked. They changed the ingredients now and most of that stuff doesn’t do much except draw more ants.
Terro has always worked well for my ant issues until this year. I am not sure if it is the product or the ant population that has changed, but I cannot get rid of them! They are relentless. I do feel that the baits are bringing more ants into my house, not sure if this is true or just my frustration with seeing them swarming the baits and not getting rid of the ant invasion.
Looks like I have carpeter ants in my house. But, what if they go up in the wall, should I still use that fipro or should I use ant-trax first? I do have pets in the house. The ants has a black face and butt, and red body. I did left an apple out by mistake and found out the ants were all on the apple as I couldn't remember where I put the apple. I've killed a lot of them. But, I see few of them on and off. So, I've been using ant traps. I put few under the couch and stuck 2 on the wall (liquid raid) type and cover gaps (where I think they come in with salt).
So you can take the right steps little black ants are harmless butted ants or fire ants can bite and sting you best to know what your dealing with first
A big reason ants are attracted to homes is moisture. Make sure you run down spouts away from home. Change mulch on a 1-2yr basis. Also run a dehumidifier in basement. If you have a crawlspace that’s an even more fun moisture job. Other than that these treatment methods are beautiful.
I’ve got itty bitty black ants coming in through the gap between my toilet and floor and the gap between my window and wall in my kitchen and back porch room. I put out Terro ant goo backers and bottles, put down diatomaceous earth around the toilet base and my dish rack, and sprayed Ortho around the perimeter of my main floor. Three months later, they were still coming. I had an exterminator come spray a week and a half ago. They’re still coming. Is it possible they’ve nested under my siding? Should I have my toilet sealed to the floor with silicone caulk? Do my windows need to be professionally replaced? And can I apply the products you mentioned myself?
Thank you so much for this video. Our current pest control people that we pay every 3 months often miss spots and I find dont keep the ants away for long. I cant even set things on my kitchen counter for more than a minute before I find an ant. Ill certainly try these, thank you!
Sunflower Put down some grits wherever they’re coming in... they’ll go eat it.. when grits are in water or saliva, any kind of liquid.. they expand... so a little while after the ants eat it..... they explode.......... trust me... the others won’t come back..
I do the janitorial and repair work for 2 apartment complexes with 24 apartments in each. Will Borax mixed in hot water and mixed with sugar and honey do the trick if sprayed in kitchen cupboards and along baseboards and window and door frames? We have a problem in both buildings with very tiny red ants about an eighth of an inch in length. The buildings were built in the '60's. I'd like to kill the entire nests and I believe they might be inside the walls. I work hard and go out of my way for my tenants but I also do everything possible to try and save expenses for the property management company and building owners wherever and whenever I can.
This is not a good method. I'll tell you why without getting into too much detail. 1, Attractants, like sugar or honey, attract bugs that otherwise would not be there. 2, concentration of boric acid is very important and can be species specific. Too much will kill them without getting the queen. Too little and it is simply ineffective. It would be more cost effective and kill efficient to buy a prepared mix with your specific pest listed on the label.
I live in a townhouse with several courtyards. We have a lot of black ant holes in each court yard. They bite people and even our dogs. Their not little their the big ones. One hole can have a trail of ants the length of 6 townhouses. What would be good to use?
Thank you for this video - great suggestions I will have to try out. Our ants are black and a regular size (not too teeny tiny but not huge by any means). They are lazy, by that I mean they move slow or sometimes just sit there motionless. I've found them all over the house and in every room. I've even seen 2 hanging out attached to the wall - how are they not falling down?
I have the same “lazy” ants. Exactly how you described. And I have 24 different baits scattered around my apartment… for 3 weeks.., and I still see them. I can’t get rid of them. Nasty they are. I don’t see them “trailing” one after another… I see them in groups 3-4 circling around the baits and around sticky baits. They go around 👹👹not inside to feed… I don’t know what else to do…
Ants are coming out from between my kitchen faucet and the counter top. I have used ant pellets and two different liquids to kill them. I sprayed the whole outside of my house and added pellets, cleared all plants and weeds as well. But they are still here. I feel like I have to remodel my whole kitchen to find the nest.
I only have problems with ants in summer time, Ants come out of the woods build nests around my water pump, some time I have ants in my water filter..What can I use which will not affect well water.
I’ve noticed carpenter ants randomly in house the past two weeks. We just had our kitchen gutted and replaced & never leave food out. All containers that have food are sealed. I’ve noticed (and killed) some climbing up walls in living room, wife’s killed some in bathroom as well as climbing on us while sitting in recliner. We’ve never had this issue, they seem to have come out of no where! Grass is maintained, no trees in yard or wood lying around. It’s enough to drive ya nuts. Any suggestions not mentioned in video? Thanks
Hey Steve, For carpenter ants, we recommend a non-repellent foaming insecticide like our FiPro: www.solutionsstores.com/fipro-foaming-aerosol You'll want to observe their trails during the day and look for any cracks and crevices they travel through, as well as their entry points. At night, or when their inactive, apply the foam along the trails and into the entry points. FiPro is non-repelling, so when the carpenter ants become active, they won't detect the insecticide as they cross through the trails. They'll "pick up" the insecticide and spread it throughout the colony when they return. Good luck dealing with your carpenter ants! If you need any further help, we also have a control guide and video that can be found here: www.solutionsstores.com/carpenter-ant-control
Need your help on getting rid of leaf cutter ants . I live in San Antonio , Texas , the ground soil is sand , light brown and in some parts red clay .. Thanks.
*It also depends on what state you live in. I used to live in NC- and we could buy large commercial grade ant killing poison bags. In CA- all of the poisons are banned because of safety and health BS reasons....and they force you to call an extermination for anything serious because you have to have a permit to purchase anything serious*
What do you do if your ants are getting into your walls threw cracks or following the plumbing pipes into your house and there is no sign of them outside anywhere?
Hey Mike. To treat ants in walls, you'll want to use a non-repellent insecticide. Keith briefly talks about our FiPro product at 3:14 in the video. This is a foam aerosol that comes with an application straw. The foam will expand to fill whatever cavity you treat. The reason you want non-repelling is because when ants feel threatened, they send signals to the colony to bud and spread. With a non-repelling product, they won't detect the insecticide, they'll make contact with treated surfaces, and they'll spread the insecticide to other ants in the colony. I recommend you find whatever cracks they're getting in and out of, and apply the foam when they're not actively foraging (usually at night). www.solutionsstores.com/fipro-foaming-aerosol I also suggest you use an ant bait. Keith briefly goes over our Ant-Trax product at 3:33 in the video. Read the label for specific application rates, and place bait close to where you've seen ant trails. Just check baited areas every few days for cleanup and replenishment. www.solutionsstores.com/ant-trax-ant-bait

Jkerns79 carpenter ant granules, like advance. Best to locate the nests and treat them directly if you can, with insecticide. Otherwise, bait with granules and gel and you can buy empty, two-sided traps.
Solutions Pest & Lawn Thanks. The Advion gel works amazingly well. Colony gone in hours. Can’t say Transport Mikron did anything. Not sure what it’s good for.
Solutions Pest & Lawn I bought Bifen LP for the lawn and perimeter, and I think it worked very well. Demon WP and Delta Dust worked great with the doors, windows, baseboards, and outlets. (Only dust in the outlets, of course).
Transport is a good product...just not so much for ants. It is a repellant. Termidor SC is a non repellant and can be applied to the perimeter (only) of the home, especially the soil. try to rake back any heavy mulch and apply directly to soil for best results. This works well in conjunction with baits.
