Within these 82+ years of living I have learned to be careful what I pray for. So at this great old age, I will NOT pray to leave memory behind, but will specifically pray to leave behind mistakes that God wants me to leave behind. To me in this wonderful gift of advanced age I do not want to forget. And, yes, I do most often regret what I cannot accomplish. This is where I need God to help me know what I need to leave behind and what to embrace. I’m ready (with God’s Grace) to embrace a new year where I recognize God’s best daily plan for me. Here in KSU Wildcat Country we have celebrated a break from winter weather between Christmas and 2025! Take nothing for granted unless it is God’s best plan. Be ready for surprises!
John, there's just something about your clear-thinking, humble, calm, God-confident, joy, not ignoring difficult reality but not being slave to it in the midst of this youtube-frenetic-clickbait-mad-digiscape that is sooooo good for the soul. thank you
Your comment is super encouraging, Tim. Thank you. But I must say the Become New team is also just as grateful for John's right hand man (incredibly, also named Tim Williams) who makes this an amazingly genuine experience in the youtube-frenetic-clickbait-mad-digiscape. Thanks for watching and listening, Tim. ;) - Brad
As an elderly man, I love the segment on time. I have a tendency to allow myself to dwell on it and before I know it, the enemy plants anxiety. Thanks for the great reminder.
There are not enough AMENS to applaud this practice. Thank you, John. You and the BN Team just make life so much better. I wish you well and count you as a blessing.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this prompt John. My heart, soul, and mind need this exercise this week. Prayers lifted for you in your effort to leave behind and move forward. 💛
I’m leaving behind all my shame of my failures and pride of my successes. All I have to offer from both are stories of Gods grace and mercy towards me. That’s the only thing I want in my mind from the past.
Dear John , thank you for making things so clear and simple. There are many things I want to let go of and they are overwhelming me to hang on ! It’s time to go forward and with God’s help I am. Thank you so much for your message !! Let this new year begin !
Yes, it's time to go forward! Jeanne, we understand what you're describing here, and letting go of the many things that hold us back is so worth it. We'll be letting go of what overwhelms alongside you this new year! - Brad

Leaving behind is so much more helpful than resolutions. Surrender is the pathway to new life. I'm going to prayerfully make my "leave behind list." Thanks John.
I officially retired from my job in the one Christian school for 38 years in October. This has been a big transition and letting go for me. It was so helpful John to have your perspective on things I want to leave behind. I’m definitely making a list so that I can have clarity of mind to finish that part of my life well and to move forward in retirement using my gifts and skills that God bless me with for the kingdom and for others. Thank you for helping my clarity of mind in this process and on this journey.
Thank you for this. I relate so much with the first thing that John is leaving behind. This was so helpful for me as we're on the cusp on the new year now. ❤
good morning ☀️ and Happy New Year! Love the idea of leaving my boo boos behind and vs a New Year’s promise I normally forget about as the months march forward in the new year. Letting go has gotten easier~maybe it’s age for me, prefer a lighter load 🥰 Eager awaiting what Become New will unfold in 2025! May you all be blessed as we close the door to 2024 and look to Jesus for His plans for us in 2025. Grateful to our community here, where I find peace & hope. 🙏🏻💝💕🍃
Thank you for this. I have always hated resolutions. They feel like 1 more thing to do. Today you have listed things that you don't have to do. What a nice upside down way to look at the New Year
Perfect - It would be good for me to leave at least 3 out of the 4 of those behind as well. In addition, defensiveness and wasteful habits. Thank you John. We're looking forward to ringing in the New Year with you and Become New.
As I recall, John, you began 2024 with a list of five things you wanted to do in this year. So I think it's also appropriate that you list some things you want to leave behind in 2024. I appreciate your perspective on beginnings and endings. Thank you.
I have been intrigued by your daily call w Dr Rick for years. Maybe you’ve already detailed how that looks and I missed it somehow. But it would be helpful for me to hear how you guys structure that as I’d like to put it into practice. Is there a couple of questions you ask, standard topics to cover or report on, etc?
What a great list! John, I think I'll join you in leaving behind: 1. Ungodly shame. Develop a stronger forgetter. 2. The election. Find other ways to deal with boredom. 3. The tyranny of the clock. Use the time God has provided to do his will unhurriedly. 4. Trying to look bigger than he is. Humble yourself under God's mighty hand. Move up by moving down.
One of the things I need to leave behind (again) is "Not Good Enough." Another is "my half-lives." I've stopped being a snowbird, and now I have to figure out what a whole, "real" life is.
Hi John,... Welcome to the new you and impending new year... When God made Time...He made plenty of it... Greetings and best wishes for the coming year... Keep up with these well crafted messages... Amen.. It is misty, Foggy, dank and thoroughly miserable Four degrees...Yukk... Arnold..🙂🥶🙏.

You're defined by Jesus, Karen. That makes you more than good enough. I'm thankful you watch and listen along with us here. - Brad
