The blondi chair is the funniest item you have shown so far
The sticker on the bottom proves its real!
I dunno, I’m torn between that and Göring’s gravy boat from a couple of videos back.
A note from a german citizen. The shown chair is a socalled , Brettstuhl' , such chairs had been rather popular among elderly/ rural/ traditional german people up to 1960s/ 1970s. They had been produced in large quantities.
I was not prepared for the swastika cookies. That’s the most tasteless shit I’ve ever seen.
Imagine sitting in the Blondi chair while snacking on swastika cookies from the AH embossed tray. Could it get any better? Sure it could cause a couple hours later you're going use some of that Edelweiss toilet paper to complete this circle of crap. Great video, thanks Militaria Review.
Well, someone could be sniffing Eva Braun's panties and eating the cookies while sitting in Blondie's chair.
🤣🤣🤣
Your comments about Tom Wittmann's ham-fisted handling of the Blood Order was bang on. Have you ever watched his unboxing videos? As a former museum conservationist, my blood curdles every time he gets his meat hooks all over things, while smoking a cigar and taking a swig of his rum and coke. I've seen him throw items like medals and badges on the table and as such, he seems to have a particular disregard and dismissiveness towards everything that isn't a dagger, sword or bayonet. But, even with daggers, swords and bayonets, his handling of them with his bare hands is shocking. I wonder if he realizes how much acid is on the finger tips. Unlike a lot of people, I don't have much respect for the guy and never have had, despite the books and everything he's supposedly done for the hobby because he's also one of the old guard who've all done a lot sketchy things that have undermined the hobby.
Could not agree more. Love seeing cigar ash all over cloth items almost 80 years old, medals tossed to one side. Uniforms mess around with and tried on.... distasteful to say the least
I cringe every time he hacks away at the wrapping paper with his razor knife. 80 plus year old items that made it through a World War to be cut or marked up by some clown with a box cutter
I can't agree with you more on the handling of objects. I use to work with the NYC Archives staff, but I was not an archivist or conservationist. Just hanging around them, and watching, I learned that you should not such hold such objects with your bare hands and definitely not smoke in the room. Also, don't just place them on anything. They should be handled while wearing clean cotton gloves and placed on a clean cloth -- not one with ashes, spilled drinks, etc. Like you, I am shocked watching how many of the dealers are so derelict in their handling of these objects.
He’s been humping up daggers and swords for years, I don’t trust Tom Whittmann at all.
Swastika cookies.. Oh man that takes the cake haha wtf is going on. Had me dyin
Another entertaining and informative video, your points on how this industry is represented are 100% correct.
yesss another great video
im always happy if another videos pops up
Very informative, thank you.👍🏻
Great content mate keep it up!
Much appreciated
Great vid .Thank-you for the info..
I could watch hours of this content! Keep it coming! More vids!
More to come!
Thank you. I was laughing my ass off when you talked about that crap from Walter and the cookie man. Keep up the good work, I just discovered your channel and I instantly subscribed.
Glad you enjoy the content
Awesome videos... congratulations. I remember to see a thread at WAF of a collector from South Africa ... Huge collection in a house. It was really impressive the amount of uniforms and memorabilia. Do you know ? Best regards from Brazil .
I don't have any money to buy TR stuff and I don't live in the states but I love watching your videos. Cheers mate
I was at this show, and I agree that it was not as good as past Max Shows; however, it wasn't "terrible". Moving it to York meant it was only 30 minutes away from me, so of course I was going. Many states still had COVID restrictions, so that had an impact on attendance, particularly on older people. I think the bigger impact was that the SOS show was held in July, so a lot of people went there and didn't attend the Max. Also, virtually no firearms were there which was disappointing. Really enjoyed your videos and calling out the bad actors - looking forward to more!
It's so funny that I found your videos and they confirm everything I was feeling about Walter. Kanzler struck me from the get-go as extremely shifty and shady. It's in his whole demeanor. He doesn't look people in the eye, like when Tom approaches him. He always appears to be scanning about as if he's uncomfortable and ready to run at any moment. It's almost a defensive posture of a man who knows all too well he's peddling crap.
Bruhhh the cookies had me dyin!
Yes, finally!
Thanks for the vid! When the SS collar tabs video comes out? You're a foreign volunteer guy.. that's a minefield in itself!
Sooner or later haha
Great informative video again my friend...I felt Tom Wittmann was dismissive of the guy who was enthusiastically asking for Tom's opinion...maybe cos he knew he wasn't going to buy anything. I'd also question Tom W's judgement giving airtime to gangsters flogging garbage.
I'm glad Tom goes to Walter's table. this is my favourite part XD ... Omg that chair that's even better. I'm sure you'll find the made in china mark if you looked close enough or find it on Wish. Rofl the cookies does he claim that they Hitler's original cookies aswell XD
Kinda odd to hear veteran expert Wittmann tell the newbie to "repaint" over the scuff marks on a OG knife, arent that the real value of the thing? the "wear and tear" of age? Over here in Europe that would be heretic talk LOL
My reply to that is, the "daggers from parts" scandal in the 1980s and early 90s. Who says that there's any integrity at work here?
Quite right. The patina of age is everything. I collect Napoleonic era swords and the only thing I do is 'clean' them with Renaissance Wax which just lifts any fine rust or lose dirt, then leaves the blade protected from moisture. I never purchase any swords that have been over-cleaned as it strips away the history.
nope. Even here in Europe sellers and buyers want everything as perfect and as clean as possible. there is no value to either party in historic scuff marks. If you sell a jacket full off shrapnel marks and with blood spatter you will be offered %50 or less of the value of a clean jacket. historic damage is just seen as damage and losses you money and interest as a seller.
@@frankpolly Carefully cleaning dirt off items is one thing. But, removing age and patina devalues it. I primarily collect Imperial German and Freikorps medals and badges. If some cleans the patina off an Iron Cross, for example and makes it all shiny and new looking, it loses a lot of it's value and is difficult to sell. I've been at this for 60 years and can say confidently that most collectors I know want things in original condition as much as possible.
@@frankpolly Weird, i live in Europe and when i was in the hobby between middle 90's to early 00's "patina" was the main word, a jacket full off shrapnel marks and with blood spatter would fetch high prices as "battle-worn original". Although, i havent been int he hobby since around 2015, so it might have changed.
Great vid as usual. One thing though, Tom Whiteman of Legacy Collectibles might be a German pistol expert, but he seems to know little about German rifles and his shop pretty regularly sells bad/questionable K98k's.
Tom Whiteman has deep and broad knowledge of one thing: Walther PP and PPK pistols. If you want to know about them, he's your man. Anything else...eh. He is very much not an expert (although he's learning) about US M1911 pistols. Anything else, take his assessments with a grain of salt and do your own research. He seems to be an exceedingly nice man, and a few people I've spoken to who have met him say so. But he has significant gaps in his knowledge, and while admitting it, he also sometimes takes guesses about things, especially militaria, where he's normally generally right but detailed knowledge is usually wrong. Not to disparage him in any way; he's an expert in one very narrow field of firearms, and impressively so.
I’m a bit skeptical of all his engraved pistols.
We want more of these videos
Im glad youre calling out the sunglasses inside type characters too. I know it may seem superficial but if this hobby is going to demand the types of prices that it does, the dealers should at very least look professional. That guy with the red glasses really gets under my skin.
LMAO swastika cookies?! Bro what?
So good.
Best militaria show I ever attended was in Marrieta, GA at the Cobb Civic center in the late 90s.
I wonder if the guy in the dark glasses has an eye condition that requires them? I worked with a guy that had something that affected the opening and closing of the pupil of the eye and so had to wear glasses that look like those all the time. Of course he could just be a big-timer who things it makes him look like a cool badass too, no way to tell really.
Perhaps Roy Orbison is the great example of the man with the sunglasses on!
Hey man, lekker channel. Ever thought of traveling SA and comment etc on our local militaria dealers?
Have thought about it, but far too dangerous at the moment my broer
@@militariareview208 Are you guys ok over there?
@@ilikehelmets4079 lol. depends how you look at it. police are getting a little too happy with the power lately though.
@@konigstiger3017 nothing wrong with a little pop pop pop if your on the right side
Hi ! A lot of times people who wear sunglasses inside have an eye stigma ,where light really bothers their eyesight tremendously !! 😂So You might need to give his gentleman an apology. There's a lot of people who have the same problem and people always have the same answer for their eyesight problem ,they think they're trying to be cool but really it's a medical problem ! People might want to do a little research on that subject before commenting on people wearing sunglasses inside ! Somebody wrote a song one time and said it from his heart "How does it feel to be me"
19:19 into the video. LMFAO! 🤣🤣🤣 I love these vids
Omg. Wonder how much a cookie was selling for?? 🤣😂
Good video. The venue was no where near as good as Monroeville, PA. York, PA is a slum in a cornfield. I have released my Max show walk thru video and I will shoot my other videos this weekend. I will talk about the background of the Max show and why it has gone down hill. There is so much material to cover. I have laid in a good supply of liquor, cigars and relics for this weekend's video shoot.
I thought the guy that Whitman gave the appraisal on daggers was a plant at first
Is it me, or did Whittmann advise the kid with the boonie hat, at roughly 11:56 to replace a screw with one that was not original to the piece but from the era? He also advised cleaning a sheath. How is this any good for the hobby? Restoration is one thing, professionally done, but to advise someone to just "clean it up" is an antithesis.
Cutting the head off of an SA screw and slotting it to replace the missing original, of course I would do it, no problem, since you will not find an original, and that is the closest you are ever going to get. If you think no one cleans up sheaths, let alone the half the Lufts on these tables that have been re-leathered.....
Loved it! keep it up man and thank you for inspiring me to fight the good fight and call out these pieces of shit thieves.
Yeah it's pretty sad what the ovms shows have turned into over the years the amount of fake items in there is unbelievable. I usually go to the SOS show with a group of friends of mine every year. We try our best to help out new collectors in the k98k market. Mainly trying to get young collectors a good original rifle that is not fake where there is so many fake rifles to begin with. This week I will be attending the Wilmington show. Let's see how it turns out, but most likely it will be the same items from the SOS show.
I only started collecting Wehrmacht this year before that a decade on US militaria but already regreting it,so many fakes right across the board.my friend went to this show and couldn't find one item i'd asked him to get for me.he said it wasn't a patch on the SOS.great vid as always but why O why is Walter allowed to be at these shows he's just killing a great hobby.!
I love listening to Whittmann rip apart a reproduction dagger.
7:41 Allach Amazone #82 is my fave
Did soldiers really put pink (and red) behind their SS skulls, or were these popped off by a collector and done that way? Seems to me a soldier would be out of uniform doing that. I can find no reference book that even mentions that practice. Just curious.
Its common place, happened a lot to be honest.
Dont get mad at Wittmann interviewing Kanzler, i view it as the entertainment bit of his awesome vids. Its good some of the fakes get exposed, but im not at all for shunning the guy or not showing his goods. Why not! this is the fun of the hobby to see the real to see the fake and to make your own judgements.
I was just talking to a dealer who was at the max show, and the fake blood order sold even after the kid was told by a number people that it was not original.
Apprently It did not sell, he just put it under the table and claimed it sold....
Just out of curiosity what are South African gun laws like?
Very strict
30 years ago it was the Show to be at
You make Thomas wittmann look like an amateur, brilliant knowledge.
Since I started watching you channel I have been seeing fakes (Shields, signs, silverware) absolutely everywere!!!
Sad to see such a nice Norwegian Jarman with such a bad dealer ;(
In one of Whitman videos he has Walter and that other crook together and says wow you guys know everything. When Whitman really can spot any fake. I think Thomas gives subtle hints in the way he talks to them.
Some of those new guys are sleezy chancers. Kuntzler is the worst.
Have you even been to the Max show?
The GD tunics are both obviously PANZER not Infantry...
That cossack coat does look put together. I got a few books on their uniforms and not one shows that design. Most are wearing German uniforms or Cossack Cherkessas. I would stay away
GD is panzer has pink piping not white.
These video alaways have me laughing
Is the South Africa location real
I hope it's a real country
@@militariareview208 no I was asking if you where actually living in South Africa because it’s your added location in the video it’s probably a meme tho
@@heer4149 no I actually live in Capetown
@@militariareview208 oh thats interesting do you ever stumble across 3r militaria there for sale in your area
@@heer4149 hardly ever brother. There are dealers down here but slim pickings
That HJ knife Walther shows is 👎🏻
Around 17 minutes mark, isnt that hitler jugend logo supposed to be diamond shape ö_Ö thats not fake ?
Can't wait to see the Hitler Bed and toilet with bathroom stall
That chair made me think of the episode of King of the hill where hanks dad tries to sell hitlers canoe lol m.ruclips.net/video/OsmsDafYyaM/видео.html
I have an original turd (swastika shaped) from Blondi in my display case.
100% authentic, including orginality certificate.
I am going to sell it, I think.
Would $5000.00 be a good price??
So wittmann is capable of seing fakes
Thanks for a great video.. and for all the bullshiters in the hobby.
I was at the this show, I don't think it was anywhere near as bad as what some people are leading on to be. I think alot of people just like to complain!
Even management said it worse one in 10 years so......
@@militariareview208 How many have you been to yourself in the past 10 years?
@@michaeledwards7668 almost all of them, I am a 10 year member of the ovms...
@@militariareview208 same here, imo the show was just fine, also didn't hurt that it was only 1.5 hrs west of me! Next show is in two weeks, at the Forks of the Delaware show in Allentown PA, about 1.5 hrs northeast of me. Both Whitemant and Wittman are usually there, have bought stuff from both, Legacy is 20 min from my house.
@@michaeledwards7668 I remember when folks of Delaware was a lot bigger, miss it. Not a lot of people know about it these days
Another great video! The "show" looks like a total shit show. Tha is for saving me from driving to York PA.
Seeing dog shit on the floor and watching people step over it is the highlight of thr show
lol...what a scam...oh..he forgot to mention that the swastika cookies are marked "1939"..in the back..lol..
I think Wittman knows these are fakes but is trying to remain professional and not call these swindlers out in public.
