Also yes, I'm from Brazil and I can say with reasonable certainty that Gear 5 isn't actually his fruit awakening it's just Luffy channeling his inner brazilian. Honestly I’ve been watching for so long and the detail about sky splitting was something I never really paid attention to, but now that it’s mentioned I forgot how huge of a testament it is to their strength.
Just came to mind while watching the vid, I am guessing it's the previous user's will or something + luffy that split the sky as we have seen it requires two ppl to do that
The solo Luffy sky split wasn’t even in manga and I’m taking it as canon that he’s capable of it.
Generally when Toei takes liberties I trust that they’re operating on some direct guidance from Oda.
It may not be technically “canon” that it happened but I’m sure if it was outright contrary to canon, Oda would have stepped in to say “hey what are y’all doing Luffy can’t do that (yet)”

@@formerctgovernordannelmall1452 unfortunately I’m not a manga enjoyer but from everything that I’ve seen online the current animations have been relatively faithful to the manga panels for key moments in the fights. I’m just excited to see how they wrap things up to move forward and the repercussions of the battle with Kaido.

One Piece is kinda deep. The problem is people have a hard time balancing between the serious and the goofy. They want one or the other but can't handle both at once
Dude. One piece has drug addicted child soldiers, racism, slavery, genocide . One piece is a very serious manga , but Oda also does an amazing job of making us laugh at the goofiest childlike things .

Seeing your comment and the one above yours shows the completely opposite perspectives one can have of this story. Shows how wonderful this series is. You only see the silliness while another sees the seriousness hiding beneath its silly face.

Gears don't actually shorten his lifespan as long as he doesn't wear his body out. When the cheetah guy fought against luffy, he only stated it would affect his lifespan because luffy was using gear 2nd past his body's limits.
@@Thomas48484Yeah, like over-using it actually. Now that Luffy has his adv. haki unlocked he only needs to use gear 2 for short-period fights where he knows he's low diffing them. Eg: Anyone from between the first commander lvl (except swordsman) to second commander lvl and below if none of them has adv. haki is Luffy's victim now if Luffy decided to use adv. haki with gear 2.

Honestly the thing I love about Luffy is how he makes up his own moves.
The full effect of G5 explains so many scenes that's happened before and after Fishman Island arc. How can you start fire on your arm underwater? Because his will was strong enough to want it to, he has the right amount of Haki, and he understands his fruit power a way more than before.
Sanji made fire underwater too, and zoro did an air slash without slashing the bubble lol, before awakening the fruit is completely paramecia like

One of the biggest hints since the beginning of Luffy's fruit being more, is Chopper. Chopper had the human human zoan fruit, Luffy has a model: human zoan fruit. Chopper uses rumble balls and eventually can manually alter his form to enhance specific aspects of it. This is the same as Luffy's gears, with Gear 5 presumably being the full transformation, he has access to all of the previous gears at once. To add to this both Chopper and Luffy can turn into giants now.
Pirate Warriors 4 has really helped me contextualize this. The zoans in this game can have one of their special attacks be what turns them into their hybrid or full animal form, and when they transform get access to special attacks exclusive to this zoan form. Every character can use this general boost but for zoans this boost is specifically them transforming into an animal. Luffy's gears function exactly the same as these other zoans, where you transform and get exclusive attacks to the transformation.
