For me, the spice sometimes takes over the whole story. I have DNFd books that have pages and oages if spice where the plot and story has been forgotten.
Oh for sure! Those books are so boring. It can be a delicate balance but I definitely prefer a little “something something” in my romances 🤣

I always love your book reviews, Julie! I got my copy of Iron Flame. Fourth Wing was a lot of fun. I feel like it knows what it is and embraces it, and I'm here for it. I haven't started Iron Flame yet because then it's going to end, and I'll have to wait!! I'll give in soon enough, though. 😊
Yessssss! Iron Flame ends on as much of a cliffhanger as Fourth Wing 😭 Totally agree with you that Fourth Wing set out to be a specific type of romantasy and she nailed it! I get why some people don’t enjoy it but let the rest of us have our fun!!! 🤣
I attempted to start a "winter weather" project, but Texas being Texas means there's no reason to work on it outside of 5-10 days of the year. I'm thinking of changing my rule to working on it when we hit 32F, regardless of precipitation.
But even with that rule change, I've only had 1 maybe 2 opportunities since febs week of winter when I started it (assuming one did the rule change after sept). I started a small (112x80) on purpose and its still going to take years to finish, even with the rule change lol.
Although, perhaps i should work on it when its ridiculously hot out to help cool me down...32f and below and/or 100f+...although that alternate rule would've had it finished months ago since we had such a long hot summer...
I have time to decide, Texas is doing fall currently.
