What is the point of changing the mapping when you are comparing two bikes ?? Wouldn’t it make sense to compare the bikes as is off the showroom floor the way a normal person would buy it .. that makes sense for a guy deciding which bike is best ..
I really love the reliability of the Honda but it frustrates me that the RX does not have a different transmission. It really should have a 6 speed and come with handguards.
Get the R, replace the left foot peg perch with the one that takes the kick stand, get the 18” rear wheel and keep the 19” as a spare wheel, have the benefit of the hotter ECU settings and suspension for the occasional Moto.
Dude I have the most badass 2019 crf250r that I threw a Baja kit on and a few other changers and rode that sexy fucking thing 700 miles through some tough shit. Is a 250r a good enduro bike? Absolutely get a better seat tho…the race seat will
Saving up now. I'm going to wait for the 21 to come out and then grab me a 20 RX. Ty. Love my 15 rmz 250 but im getting too old for kick start. I need a electric start bike .
As someone about to get a 2020 bike this video led off track pretty quickly, you lost my interest straight away when you mentioned putting a vortex ignition in both (would've preferred to know how they compared stock)
Unless honda brings a new updated 250x with f\i and a 6 speed like the new 450x, im going to have to leave red and start riding blue with my next bike. It will be a sad day if i have to leave honda and buy yamaha.
researched and bought 2021 rx...new rider...thing is crazy "snappy" in first gear...makes technical trails really hard for me. 2nd gear stalls in techy stuff...although not real good at feathering clutch i was told...looking forward to growing into the bike...lol
You and Spencer do an awesome job. Best channel out there. You guys are like myself. I love the comrodery of trail riding and meeting new peeps. You guys don't overly favor any machines. I wish we had more tracks in Ohio but that's another conversation. Keep up the good work boys! Question: do they make a different CDI for the KTM 250 Xcf and what does it accomplish, thanks!
Can the RX go slower? I mean without riding on the clutch. My 250F is AWESOME riding trails and climbing rocks, and I rode a friends Kawasaki 450R and it was horrible the bike wanted to ride so fast or it would stall
3:59 ''...would like a little bit more power on the bottom end'' Is there an easy or simple way to get a little more torque out of the lower end of the power band?
Unfortunately, no. Have to go KTM, Beta, Husqvarna for that. Way more expensive. The closest would be the CRF 450RL, and the Yamaha wr250f can be made street legal rather easily. There may be other options that I don't know about.
Any idea why Honda still runs a black clutch cover? It seems like it's scratched up in every pic/video I see with what seems to be low hours. I know it's just cosmetic but with Honda being so innovative I'm surprised they haven't changed that up.
Help! Great video! Please help me decide of I get the 250R I can later do whatever the differences are or even better. I understand your video well that the RX is what I need but my dealer is getting R Friday and not a RX until end of March and I don’t want to wait. I will be riding in the mountains and am 6’2” and 200lbs. Would I experience that much difference? Or can I make the changes later? Should I think about waiting for RX? (Please say no🤣) Thanks a ton for you help!
Its very simple-- there are not many true trail bikes made now. Most are MX bikes with small off road mods and most do not have a large enough output stator to run much if any lights at all. Email me further tech questions.
Comments help me out do y’all believe a 250 is good for a beginner learning clutch I’ve only used quads that were automatic and were also 250’s but now I want to step up to dirtbikes please someone lend me your opinion if I should or shouldn’t
Both beautiful bikes, and it seems most people love the black rims, yucck, I can't stand them, ruins an otherwise perfect looking machine. I'm not wild about YZ250F Blue rims, but they're one hella upgrade over black.
“We run a little bit more Oil than they recommended “ … 3:04 🤦♂️ Pray why ? Americans (in my opinion) always do this. Every bike/car/boat / aircraft /Jetski I’ve owned in tbe States … there is a risk they over fill the oil! Don’t fucking do it ! It can damage things… The manufacturer knows more than you do!
I'm in a similar boat but I've rented dirt bikes 3 times. Each time I rode a Honda CRF250F. I loved that bike, and would definitely buy it (then again, I would have probably enjoyed any bike). I think 250CC is the way to go for a beginner unless you're really heavy, then maybe 450CC or if you're short, then you might want 150CC. My buddy rode the 150CC and the smaller wheels were much more difficult in soft sand just FYI. I saw from a different video that CRF250F was built really tough and should be low maintenance compared to other models.
Thank you for educating the world on the benefit of 250f's. I bought a 250 xc-f because of you and am so happy I did.
good bike!

Ya kinda a bummer
450 bro
I agree, that’s why the YZ250FX is a better bike
It does come with hand guards though, but I agree I’d rather have the 6 speed

@@tropiicediting8144 yeah my crf250r is a go anywhere bike foe sure.
Im rarely ride track and I have a 250r... I added a desert tank, kickstand, and stabilizer. It works perfectly fine and rides all day !!
Where can i get the kickstand
Does the tank make it look ridiculous or does it look fine
Had a chance to ride the RX in Utah! Great bike! Super fun on the trails.
It sure is!

im looking to do the same thing. when do youu think the 21 will drop?
@@aleceverhart im not right but I think August or September
Great vid. I’d love to see you compare the rx to the new x model
Noted!
I 2nd that one... 👍
Keep it up @Jay . I day dream with that RX. Used to own an old x model and it always put a smile on my face
thoughts on the newly redesigned 2022 CRF250s?
I really appreciate the percentage comparison. My son rides track down south and trail up here in the north, RX it is! Mostly trail.
I’m definitely adding one of these to my garage
As someone about to get a 2020 bike this video led off track pretty quickly, you lost my interest straight away when you mentioned putting a vortex ignition in both (would've preferred to know how they compared stock)
sorry. very similar without Vortex

I ride a 2013 crf250r and i'm 70% on trails ...the R is very good on trails also the RX...
So if I Brought a r I would be fine on trails?
researched and bought 2021 rx...new rider...thing is crazy "snappy" in first gear...makes technical trails really hard for me. 2nd gear stalls in techy stuff...although not real good at feathering clutch i was told...looking forward to growing into the bike...lol
I know I’m late to the show but put the mapping in mode 2 and there’s less torque. Designed for trail riding
The love the rx man love it

Yes Vortex has one - Jamie at Twisted has some maps as well-- Revs out more and runs cleaner for sure. However, its pretty costly.
Great review, pretty much nailed what I was wondering :)
Ya. I have an older 450R. I never liked the super heavy X version. If I were to buy today it would be 450rx. Since not track exclusive.
Can you get a smaller gas tank for the RX because I like the look of the R’s gas tank better...
I dont think the R tank will mount up
Dirt Bike TV ok thank you
2:44 ''We run more oil than they recommend''
How much oil, how much more?
How does the help the bike, trans, rings..?
Its probably only a few drops more. Dont wanna add too much
I would prefer the r on smaller trails and the rx on wide open areas this is because the r is much lighter and skinnier
Can the RX go slower? I mean without riding on the clutch. My 250F is AWESOME riding trails and climbing rocks, and I rode a friends Kawasaki 450R and it was horrible the bike wanted to ride so fast or it would stall
Email Jay with questions. Contact info in About tab.
Have the RX and love it
how big is it ,i’m 5’7 n i don’t wanna get a bike to that’s big for me lol

its a motocross bike , it shouldn't have that bottom end
Still back break 2021 n kick start???
Does Honda, Kawasaki, or Yamaha make a bike exactly like their full motocross racing bike, except with lights (street legal)?
Unfortunately, no. Have to go KTM, Beta, Husqvarna for that. Way more expensive. The closest would be the CRF 450RL, and the Yamaha wr250f can be made street legal rather easily. There may be other options that I don't know about.
Can you ride the R on the trails?
There should be a 3rd option. Softer suspension than the RX and a wide ratio 6speed transmission. Even better would be a CR250X.
They make the crf250f
@@owenmiddlecamp6984 that's just a trail bike. I'm referring to a competitive hard enduro style of bike.
If a guy could swap tanks the RX would be perfect for me. Good video
Right on
Good comparison video Jay. Would you prefer that honda put a wide ratio 6 speed on the RX?
Yes, absolutely
The curb weight difference between the R and the RX is less than 10 lbs.
I think the RX is my winner
Vid recommendation: do a swap on tracks
R on trails
Rx on tracks
the only difference between bikes are the wheels , so the result is gonna be the same
Very interesting test, tnx!
Glad you liked it!
Sirs, with a full system yoshi, do I need to get the bike remapped? If yes, any recommendations?
You dont have to-- however, it will run better mapped-- Twisted Development would be good for that.
Any idea why Honda still runs a black clutch cover? It seems like it's scratched up in every pic/video I see with what seems to be low hours. I know it's just cosmetic but with Honda being so innovative I'm surprised they haven't changed that up.
No? its terrible
For the rx I race but why’s that look so smooth on the trail
How much more "oil than recommended"?
Do you notice a diff. With the back fire screens removed? Do you run fire proof filters
NO don't run fire proof-- run Uni-- Get more snap off the bottom
Great bike, but the YZ250FX has all the same X goodies & more with better suspension and a 6 speed trans
The RX is a good bike all around
I’m 13 I’m 5:5 5:6 and I’m buying my crf 250r tomorrow!!!
what is a ECU switch?
So it’s like a tune to your mapping it makes your bike have better acceleration and all around better performance that’s the best I could explain it

@@dirtbiketv1 thanks for the reply...proper lighting seems like it should be a priority. It can get fairly dark in the woods even before sundown.
how much oil is a little more oil??
1200 range total at a change -- so 200 or so more
What about slower rides with the wife, over heating issues?
Nothing so far- I don't think overheating much an issue on these smaller bore bikes.

Just get the f for woods. Much cheaper and longer maintenance intervals.
Remember these bikes come with a lithium ion battery so you need a trickle charger
What about the 250L who is that for
Dual sport. Road &trail i think. Although i seen someone drive one on an Africa tour so,,
