I got Psychic Witch by Mat Auryn and Encyclopedia of Spirits by Judika Illes! For non witchy books, I got an Edgar Allan Poe book with some of his stories and poems. I also got my boyfriend a rune set and a book about runes.

I'm also a big reader, and unless it's a special edition I LOVE interacting with my texts. I'll highlight, underline, and write notes and reactions in the margin. Funnily enough, I don't dogear though. But I highly encourage you to make your marks on your books. It's fun, it increases engagement with the text and it's pretty ( I love the aesthetic of a heavily marked up book with notes and highlights and underlines on almost every page. Very satisfying to look at). I personally love finding old used books where the previous owner annotated. And I disagree with people who say it's disrespecting books, it's not like you are in any way affecting the readability of the text. And again, if it's not a special edition, it's not the format that matters but the information and text itself. People don't get all twitchy when people highlight and add notes to ebooks when it's in practice the same exact thing.
As far as suggestions for folk magic and witchcraft, you may want to try seeing if you could reach out to Angela from Angela's Symposium on RUclips. She actually got her doctorate on the subject and may be able to point you in the direction to more resources if you are interested in researching them.
Oh my, haha, I highlight and write in pen in my books. And I love buying used books that are marked up and reading other people’s notes. I’ve found notes between people and heartfelt letters written in books.

THE SUPPORT FROM YOUR AUNT & frankly your entire family and extended family makes me so happy & a little envious to be honest lol I would NEVER get a witchcraft book from my own family. I am happy to have supportive friends & a supportive husband that do gift me witchy books and gifts that are extremely meaningful to me! I'm a dyslexic witch so I get books on my kindle so it can read it to me. If it has a lot of illustrations I get a hard copy and use a scan pen which is slower. I would love to learn from a coven or workshop instead trying to learn from books. The druids did not have books and were ok until the romans, so maybe the druids were dyslexic! Sorry don't know where this is going

I'd recommend Psychic Witch by Mat Auryn, Astrology for Pagans and Witches and 78 Degrees of Tarot (if you're into the history of tarit, want to know the best timjng for spells, are into Planetary magic or astrology). Psychic Witch is really good for anyone regardless of which type of work you do imo.

For gifts I had 3 beautiful oracle decks, Seasons of the Witch: Samhaim Oracle, Witches' Wisdom and Mystical Wisdom (art by Josephine Wall). I had a pestle and mortar and an Ocean Jasper palm stone. I also bought some candle making supplies with Christmas money as I want to make my own Sabbat candles.
I didn’t get any witchy stuff for Christmas but I got three books and a tarot deck for my birthday a week and a bit ago. So many books on my wishlist already and more to add now 😅 I’ve really taken on board the point you made about seeing past the Wiccan aspects of some books. In love with all of this! I've started my own booklist now so thank you for going through these! A suggestion for your round deck from someone who can't shuffle at all, period 😅 sometimes I will pick a number and "deal" the cards into that many piles then stack them together either in order or in a random order. Not that it relates to round cards but for anyone else who can't shuffle, I will also rotate some of the piles before putting them back together because I like to read with reversals :)
Nothing for me, necessarily, buti gave my son his own tigers eye and amethyst ♥ he loves to take the amethyst to bed after its all charged and programmed up to hopefully give him good dreams 😊

I got Dracula too! my friend got me a limited edition Barns N Nobles red bendable cover. I dont know if you have Barns N Nobles in the UK but they have nice limited edition books. YEEESSSS. MODERN MAGICK!!! Donald Michael Kraig is far too underappreciated in the folk magick community. Especially considering he was one of the first ceremonial magickians to bridge the gap with Witches! Lots of Low Magick stuff in there to go along with all the High Ceremonial stuff. I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on it as you work through it. That book has changed my life.

6:13 It's too late for me to be awake and I also don't have my glasses on and because of that, it took me a solid five seconds to realise that the motive on the box was a bunny and not, in fact, some sort of space alien person.
I tried learning witchcraft and bought two books: the healing power of witchcraft and natural witchery... I feel like they didn't explain the how or why and I felt silly trying to implement the practices:( I'm still interested, but I feel like I need a different approach. Are tarot cards a better avenue? I wanted to get to know myself and nature at a deeper level and maybe understand spirituality more. I'm not religious, so I feel like I'm at a loss.

And it burns your hands. So the idea of descending onto a scalding hot potato is really funny to me. In the US, we "drop it like a hot potato".

The historian is also a good book about vlad the impaler Dracula. Great book to read especially in the fall.

I feel like they didn't explain the how or why and I felt silly trying to implement the practices:( I'm still interested, but I feel like I need a different approach.
Are tarot cards a better avenue? I wanted to get to know myself and nature at a deeper level and maybe understand spirituality more. I'm not religious, so I feel like I'm at a loss.

@HearthWitch @44:25 "on it like a hot potato:" In my experienced, hot potatoes are only referenced about trying to drop it or pass it off to someone else quickly. Because, you know. Its hot. And it burns your hands. So the idea of descending onto a scalding hot potato is really funny to me. In the US, we "drop it like a hot potato".
