    Hi Ron
    This is a great little "stocking filler" for Christmas. Intend to make at least five. Your detail on such a small project is much appreciated. I'm still a newbie and it's fantastic to find a project that's not intimidating.
    Greetings from Sydney, Australia.

    Great video. I like that you gave measurements and instructions as you went along. I was looking for a project for a gift, I made one from wood in my scrap bucket. I like the design and the contrast between the light and dark wood. Simple and elegant. Thanks.

    The end product is really nice! Thanks for all the exact instructions, measurements and tips. In my opinion your video is absolutely one of the best I have seen for a tablet stand or really for any wood working project. I'm just a beginner and I've watched around 50 project videos in the last few weeks. Most lack measurements, basic instructions and tips. Some don't include a narration at all. I will definitely subscribe and check out your other videos. Thanks for posting.

    Very nice, Ronald! Super fancy :)
    As an added bonus, drill a blind hole in the bottom with a forstner bit and sink in a 1/4" 20 threaded nut. Now you have a tripod mount! :D

    • @JeremyCook
      @JeremyCook 7 лет назад

      Clever, what do you mean "sink in?" Glue, or are you talking about pressing it in and using interference to keep it there?

    I made all the parts last night, researched Kindle thickness 0.4, getting Kindle in few days, adjusting the front support for 1/2 inch. adjust the parts for your customization, only screwing the back upright support in until I see how the Kindle fits before gluing.

    You seem to have a heck of a wobble on your drill bit! Is the bit slightly bent?

    • @RonaldWalters2010
      @RonaldWalters2010  7 лет назад +4

      I knew someone would say something about that. :-) Fairly annoying! Brand new out of the box hex shank drill bit from Lee Valley. Wasn't a very critical hole and I was too lazy to edit it out.

      Really intended for someone (my wife) laying in bed watching a movie, so if it falls over no harm... but it is quite stable. One tilt angle fits all. :-)

    nice stand, nice handywork, but the wobble.....
    do you use anything to keep your stand from "migrating" around your table? im going to make something like this, using my scrap basswood.

    • @RonaldWalters2010
      @RonaldWalters2010  7 лет назад

      There is no wobble. You could use 4 self adhesive silicone feet on the bottom. I call them fish eyes.

    I checked the fit for 10 inch Kindle on this plan, going to lengthen the base and deeper front to back to have the upright twice as high, I will send photo and math to keep the 22.5 angle, some day.

    Appreciate the measurements. In retrospect do you think the glue would have been strong enough or are the screws necessary?

    • @RonaldWalters2010
      @RonaldWalters2010  2 года назад +1

      I used Baltic Birch Plywood and the veneer can be pretty thin. Even with solid wood, if the item is dropped (and it probably will be) it can pop loose. The glue holds it in place allowing easy insertion of the screws. Then it is there to stay.

    • @RonaldWalters2010

      Yes you can use wood (or plastic). Edges can be rounded by hand with a file and/or sandpaper.

    You must have used A/C grade, I did one with CDX and have rough top, I could use orbital sander.

    • @RonaldWalters2010
      @RonaldWalters2010  4 года назад

      Construction grade plywood is not very good. MDF would probably be a better choice.
      I used Baltic Birch Plywood. It has more plies that construction grade, both sides are good, the glue is better, it is flat and has nearly zero voids.

    • @thomassmith4616
      @thomassmith4616 4 года назад

      @@RonaldWalters2010 I scrapped the plywood and did the base and upright with Zebrawood and Purple Heart for the front bar.

      Watch the video. Dimensions (in inches) are clearly given throughout the video... although a couple of them may be stated in English.
      The width of the 1/2" plywood being cut on the table saw is 3-1/2".
