Thank you for sharing this build. I have a step grandson that just started college. I decided this would make an excellent CHRISTmas present for him for his IPad. So yes I made it. Plus I really appreciate how well you explained the process's through out the build. I will be following your channel. Thanks again
Yes, absolutely I will make it. Through your creative thinking you have designed and built a very useful device. Thank you for bringing your amazing woodworking skills to the Internet.
It's absolutely gorgeous, and in high school wood shop I might have been able to have all the machines to make it. Only problem there is when I was in school there were no cell phones or tablets!! Lol. I have some disabilities that keep me down a lot and I am learning to use a tablet and this would be so great so I didn't have to hold it all the time. So now you are going to have me on the hunt for something functional to use. Thanks so much for sharing your craft and talents with us and I look forward to watching you make other things
Awesome!!!!!! Been looking for project to make for the Wife and grandkids..now that they each got there own tablet...they love to watch Netflix and this it the perfect project to make for them.☺☺☺
Very nice build and well described on the building process. Hope the family liked the present, pity that part wasn't recorded it would have been good to see. Well Done keep up these great videos. Oh and love the Instructables t-shirt. TC, Barry (ENG)
Thanks, Barry. Our friends won't receive the stand until Christmas so it will be hard to keep it a surprise when it's on RUclips. :-) I won the Instructables t-shirt in a contest that I entered with one of my projects, so I was looking forward to wearing it on a video. I'm glad you recognized it!
Thanks for the reply, yes i recognised the t-shirt as i'm on Instructables myself, but only the same as my RUclips, just for some Ideas and Plans. It's a good site. Barry.
Your experience really shows. But would I make it? Sure, but I would make the tower with half laps instead of all that work that you did. But it do look real nice.
Very nice build, but I feel like that box joint tower is super overkill. You could have made that thing 1/2 the width and it would still hold the weight of any cell phone or tablet, right? Maybe I'm wrong, but either way, it looks great, and I'm sure it works great.
Um Wood U Make It? i luv ur design for this and i would really like to use it for a mini PC build by which, i would be placing an IPS display where u will place the smartphone or tab, making a stand for the display, and to the back i would cut a little pice of the wood to run the IPS ribbon to the back where i would attach the small motherboard on for it to run. So your design was very easy for my little project!!!!! Thanks Alot!!!!!!!! I subscribed!!!!!!!
Great project, but as small as this item is, I would have left out Lazy Susan part. It just seems unnecessary to me. But overall I really like the project. I'm thinking about making one for myself.
It makes sense what you're saying, but I guess it depends on how it is to be used. For my friends, they're typically not sitting side by side during the video calls to France, so they wanted something they could easily rotate to be able to point the phone to the person who was speaking. Thanks for watching, and good luck with your project if you decide to make one.
How could you make this in an adjustable height format? Could you use those metal rods like you see on microphone stands? I am not sure what they are called if someone could tell me where I could purchase the metal adjustable rods to create the adjustable height that would be wonderful.
It does, yes. It's held together at the back with a 1/4" bolt with a knob on one end. Just loosen the knob, adjust the angle, and then tighten the knob back up.
Thank you so much! I made another version of this stand with a couple of improvements. Here's a short video that summarizes the changes that I made: ruclips.net/video/7JcNOUpBh74/видео.html Good luck with your build!
Rather over-elaborate, requiring power tools the average person could only access by arrangement. The real work is done by the bearing but in order to make this design suitable for tablets a simple rotating "bearing" could be used so that landscape and portrait orientation was available. This would simply require an extra strip of retaining beading wood so the orientation would be clockwise OR anticlockwise to best suit the wiring running up the column. Semi-suction or thin rubber feet would also steady the whole stand in real world use.
I would have pocketed the 2 parts where the bearing is deep enough so there was only about a 16th gap or less between the 2 parts. Would give a cleaner look to it. That gap is downright ugley...

Why 90% of the americans point of view or those who try to explain something start with a random story... who care about the story.. just explain how you do what you try to share and thats it.. Bed stories .. not so interesting.. just time lost. and not so "cool" stand either..
Yea. pretty much any of those who cares how much work is put in projects like this ...they never start them..because they get scared... is easy to watch YT..than actualy do what they see on YT.. fucktard.. next time try to understand all you read not only what suit you.. from a comment.. or keep your narrow mind set up like this and you will end up being ignored :))

Nice. Next time please include more time for completed projects :)
With a few size adjustments, it makes a nice portable music stand. I'll make it for my daughters birthday. Excellent video.

Yes, I would. It would also be great to hold a tablet in the kitchen when cooking with a recipe.

I would, but it's too hard for me.😍
wow that's really great
Did you spend around 3 hours to make it? How long would it take the average person to make it?
Nice, Good job.

Yes, I can see how that would be handy for them.
I would like to build
Sale them !! I like it !!
I'm new in your channel .

Does the top piece where the phone is held have an adjustable angle?
It does, yes. It's held together at the back with a 1/4" bolt with a knob on one end. Just loosen the knob, adjust the angle, and then tighten the knob back up.
Thanks man this is a class project and I’ll defiantly b making it soon
Best videos out there m8

Thanks man I love the top of version 2.0 great work
Sweet
o ya n I can see many variation... thank u.
Thanks for watching!
I dont have any tools but i can buy one from you
nice
I liked the product but to my openion isnt it quite big or bulky??
Yes, it's a little on the large side for just a cell phone, but it's a good size for a tablet. The friends that I've made these for really like them.
Yes, I would make it!! , but I only have a circular saw 😢
yes your friend phillip white dublin ga,

Thumb up
Lov it, but I think I,ll make the tower easyer
It came out beautiful, but, no, I wouldn't make it because I don't have all the special machines you used, lol.
I need help for a school project

Excellent. Good luck!
الحمدلله ماشاءالله الحمدلله
how about just making a short lazy susan style stand that can be shwivel the phone ?
u need smaller clamp would be easier to handle i bought me am i box have not used it yet too darn cold in my shop
Nice project and video - but the music ..... oy .... driving me nuts..... short drive.....
I would have pocketed the 2 parts where the bearing is deep enough so there was only about a 16th gap or less between the 2 parts. Would give a cleaner look to it. That gap is downright ugley...
Agreed. I made a second version that you can take a look at here: ruclips.net/video/7JcNOUpBh74/видео.html
You need from the start $100000 worth of tools
My adventure with the tree began with projects from Woodglut.
Very nice artisanship but I think the design is a bit kludgy. If I made it, it would be less heavy. The swivel also leaves an irritating
gap.

Great video! I just finished making a swivel stand myself. Maybe you can stop by my channel and check it out. Good luck!
Nice job on the stand! I like how you recessed the lazy susan into the wood. And nice feature with the articulating arm!
No it's too big
Les K then make it smaller...

Chill out dude! Just use the scrub forward to skip the story. Nice guy. Presenting a nice project. Thats a lot of work.
Who cares how much work there is? Those that love this kinda work do not consider is "a lot of work"
Gatto Npc pretty much anyone who's actually put together a project and filmed it and edited the film and offered on UT. dushbag
