On vacation with my parents when I was 8 in 1977, we stopped at Johnny's recording studio. While we were there, he drove into the parking lot with that car. I have a picture of Johnny with his arm around me and the one piece at a time Cadillac behind us. That's pretty cool! I've been a fan of his music ever since.

My expectations were pretty low, but you exceeded them.😎
Honestly, you did a great job analyzing Johnny Cash’s “psycho-billy” Cadillac from the song and ballparking how the actual car might have been assembled, etc. I’m not familiar with your channel but I know the song which is how I ended up here. I thought you did a nice job laying everything out and I enjoyed your video. 🧨

My Dad bought a dark green Cadillac, a 1952 model. My Dad died in 1955. At 16 I received my Drivers Licence, and, of course my first car was that 1952 Cadillac. One day with my buddies in the car, we had to stop for gas. I asked for "25 cents" worth of gas. The attendant asked, "Do you want it in the gas tank or the carborator?" That phrase made it that year's Year Book, "25 cents worth of gas, please". In Hamilton, Ontario gas was about 5 cents per litre in those days, about $1 dollar a gallon. Of course I dreamed about that car for decades! BTW that 1952 car was the 50th Anniversary for Cadillac. The "V" on the front was in gold leaf! And, of course "One Piece at a Time" is one of my favourite Johnny Cash songs. A retired Catholic priest in Canada.

So interesting. Enjoyed this video after seeing the car. As mentioned in this video there aren’t pics of the inside, but I can assure you it’s like the rest of the car - all pieced together. Great job on this video. You should go see it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed in the car or it’s hosts.

Remember, gearing is different depending on purpose during that time. The gears were much shorter in a caddy leading to a smoother ride with slower acceleration and higher top speed. It's likely the car wouldn't have been fast and that the gears in the transmission would be fragile at best.

How about breaking down the Dodge Super Stock from the Beach Boys version of "The Little Old Lady From Pasadena?" The interesting part of it is this lyric: "You'll see her all the time just gettin her kicks now / With her four speed stick and a four-two-six now ... " The thing is, the song was released in 1964, and in that year the largest engine available for the Dodge Dart Super Stock was a 415 Max Wedge. The 426 is the Hemi engine known as the Elephant, which required a special transmission. The pair was available ONLY to NASCAR racing teams. In fact, Ford complained to the NASCAR rulemakers that the Elephant was not a "stock" engine because the public could not buy them, and NASCAR agreed. As a result, Chrysler boycotted the 1965 NASCAR season and sold a few Elephants as custom orders that year while designing a downpowered version of the Elephant as the "Street Hemi." After the Street Hemi was available, NASCAR retroactively okayed the Elephant for track use. This requires some explaining.

400 horsepower was the SAE gross rating which is measured with the engine driving nothing but the oil pump, even the water pump is externally driven (usually by a small electric motor), no exhaust beyond the headers, and no air filter. If you want to see this method watch any of the Nick's Garage videos where they dyno an engine.
In 1972 they switched to SAE net which is a far lower but much more realistic number because it adds the restrictions and loads present in the vehicle it is going in.
So 400 HP is high compression (10.0:1) SAE gross
365 HP was lower compression (8.5:1) SAE gross
235 HP was lower compression SAE net

Im not sure if the video lags but some of the parts you mentioned wherent from the years you said. Im not a Cadillac specialist, (I do early 70s Lincolns) but there are some that are very distinctive if you've worked on them.
Also, the car is heavier than 5500lbs. I would say at least 6300lbs because all those parts need new breacketry, adapters and all that. The car looks to be a 68 frame. The hardest part for such a car woul dbe the windshield and firewall and chassis, and the front doors.
Of course the easier would be to decode the VIN....
Anyway, still a curious car. What kind of bugs me is what ever happened to car used in the promo photos of the album (or was it a single?), you know, the white one wil different color door and fender. That I would think would have the most historical value that this car that was basically a fan made car (still interesting but)

Barnaby Jones, Mannix, Charlie’s Angels, Andy Griffin, Beverly Hillbillies, etc. etc.
If you enjoy this so much, and have the time, there are thousands of cars you could investigate year make and model. I subscribed, so I am interested in where you may take this!

Back a few decades I made a hobby of keeping track of TV vehicles. Usually they had several of each model (you could track them by the license plates, which were legit plates at least for California cars), and they were all rentals. But sometimes they went for unique and that could be a problem.
Remember the series Hunter? the lady cop's red sports car was a one-of-a-kind prototype, and they wrecked it during a stunt... and it took 'em several months to find a replacement (that's why she rides with Hunter most of one season)... finally found a good-enough duplicate somewhere in the Far East. Source: someone on the production crew (I worked on the show a few times, and it was a friendly set).
Then the pickup truck used in Simon & Simon... originally there were three. In one episode it's seen making a near escape from being firebombed. Well, actually, it did get burnt up in that shot (if you look closely, you can see it's on fire). After that they were really careful, because it was going to be tough to exactly replace it.
Back in the 1970s, someone in Bozeman, Montana built a pretty good copy of the 1960s TV Batmobile. Really cool. No idea what became of that -- only saw it around a couple times.

There is also Alan Jacksons song about the 49 Mercury. Zz tops eliminator. The beach boys car. If you want to just do one on awesome cars. There is a rare one that I had when I was a teen. I wish I still had it. I sold it to a guy that turned it into a durby car. It was a 1974 Buick Apollo. It had a 350 big block. That thing would glide down a windy road at 120 mph like it was a straight road. It had a granny shift in it. It was two tone. Metallic blue on top, and white down the side. I traded it for a 63 Ford Galaxy 500 box top 2 door with a 427 in it. The bad thing was. 1 it was a Ford.lol 2. It was the model right before they started using fiberglass. The 63 Galaxy was quick. It could have beat the 63 Impala. Which already were using fiberglass. So Ford then came out with the 63 1/2. Hard back top. With fiberglass substituted parts. I traded a rare care for a rare car, but it was a down grade. I couldn't hardly keep the Galaxy running. Plus it was to long. I was used to the short, sporty bad ass!!!! Very few people out ran that 74 Apollo. Very few people could take the same trail. Had a 88 5.0 Mercury T top. I used to drag race. That was the first car I supper up. Got it going, and drove a hour, and a half north to Dallas Texas to see what it had.lol wild teenage years.lol my dream car is a 71 Dodge charger. 2 tone black on top, and a gun barrel dark grayish blue. I guess. Interior dark gray with black overlays. Set of original kreggars, powder coated. No chrome, or bright colors at all
