This guy’s ability to phrase each word, the way he pauses and stretches and slurs, is spectacular. They say he has a terrible voice, but when he sings his stuff he’s on fire in ways only he can be. And then he shares all this with anyone who wants to listen. No pretensions. Just him.

My grandfather loved Bob Dylan, as a black man born in 1944 the messages of change ment a lot to him, and so did the sadness. He gave me everything even my name. He died a few months ago and I feel so lost, he always guided me but these songs help. As a kid they just sounded nice but now they connect me to him, I love you duck

Knappe performance

My parents introduced me to Bob Dylan in the early 1960s with protest songs like blowing in the wind. When I met my first true love in 1972 she had a compilation album of Dylan's greatest hits (on LP of course) and I put the needle down on Blowing in the Wind, but she told me to expand my horizons a bit, flip the album over and listen to this track - I still love you Moira 50 years later for broadening my young and naïve horizons - even though we are a million miles apart now

From his first folk alums until Nashville Skyline, Dylan now admits it was all magic talent, he has no idea why he was so gifted and has not been able to do it since. He wrote about 50 perfect songs during this period and this is one of them.

Bob still writes fantastic stuff these days, what he meant by that comment is that he can no longer just sorta write in a stream of consciousness type of way. Now he thinks about what he is going to put down like he did in the days of his early stuff because contrary to what you say his early stuff like freewheelin was not written in the “magical” way that Bob was describing in that comment
