Your wealth of knowledge about Aussie racing is amazing. The black XC is a stunning car. The paint job really made it stand out. I always liked Moffat, hecwas the underdog in my eyes cause everyone loved Brock, whilo i eas never a huge fan of. Gene Cook sadly passed away a few days ago. That's who's black Bathurst Torana I drove, not Greg Cricks. Gene was that well known on the mainland but he was in Tassie Great video Mark 👍
@@bigkeg9173 cheers, all that knowledge is stuff from race books,Australian Muscle Car magazine and what people share on Facebook. I seen a picture of Moff’s black XC parked at a wreckers yard in Victoria back in the day … could have been when he started building the Mazda RX7s and had no room in the workshop. I liked Moff from the ‘77 1-2,how good his 2 door Falcons looked and because my dad got me me a Camel 🐫 🐫🐫🐫 Filters poster, even though dad was a non smoker. Our family had a Datsun 1600 around that time,so it wasn’t because we owned a Ford. When Moff switched to the RX7,I switched to Dick Johnson,as he became Ford’s great hope but I still liked Moff.
@MarksDiecastAndResinScale He was probably better known for speedway. I remember him driving a Customline on the dirt. He got inducted into the Australian Speedway Hall of Fame. I do believe he did NASCAR style racing here on the Thunderdome and also the Australian sports sedans
Nice of you to do a tribute video for Allan. He was certainly one of the most colourful characters of that era, and often painted as one of the bad guys, especially by Holden fans. When you showed the interior of the yellow XD, it makes one wonder why the regulators insisted that the cars had to have carpets, trim, and full seating, considering the flammable materials they were made from... and the risk of fire. Love that Hotwheels Monza; I've looked at some online a few times, but they are so expensive. Great video, Mark ! 👨🚒👍🇦🇺🍻
@@redtrux..000..FIRE. thanks Jim,I thought his birthday should of been commemorated,as he’s still alive and at least 5 years into his battle with dementia now. Allan was definitely was seen as the bad guy, compared to the good guy Peter Brock was portrayed as. Perhaps it was because Moff drove for Ford who were seen as American and Holden were Australian, even though they were owned by General Motors in the USA. I met Allan at the Muscle Car Masters a number of times from 2005-2017 when I got my race program signed by him or other things and he wasn’t always overly friendly … although when I bought a poster of a Ford Escort he had raced in Macau,he was pleased and happily signed it,as it must of been a good memory.I also bought a 1/18 of his Coca Cola’69 Mustang off him. Anyhow this video a perfect excuse to show some 1/18s again.
@@redtrux..000..FIRE. the Monza is pretty cool and the livery a lot like Allan’s Monza … if only it had a # 25. I don’t have his Monza in 1/18 but the model shop I go to has one on shelf,it is a resin by DDA (the company that made the little Allan figure in the video) This Monza is a spare that I was going to open but I could sell it for a fair price … definitely not a greedy scalper price.
@@redtrux..000..FIRE. I’ll check it is a double (which I am 99.99% sure it is) and if it is,I’d sell it to you for a non scalper price of the $8 I would of paid when I bought it. I remember you saying on an earlier video that you’d like to get a Monza,so I’d be happy to sell to you for my cost price. I used to buy Hot Wheels and Matchbox doubles (or multiples of some cars) with scalping in mind but I’ve never got around to selling them yet.

Maybe he raced a NASCAR at Bob Jane’s Thunderdome at Calder Park 🤔

I've seen those Monza's on Ebay from around $21 to almost $50.
