Wow, what a masterpiece - and being one of my very favourite animals, your painting has warmed my heart! Thank you so, so much, dear Louise. I think this might be one of my ultimate favourite paintings - the detail is just unbelievably beautiful.
Watching the unfolding of your animal painting is deeply meaningful and interesting. Brush strokes, pigment mixing, voiceover, each and all add dimension to the learning. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your process once again. Love the granulation those pigments give. Your calm way of explaining the way you tackle the painting inspires me not to be frightened of tackling subjects that may seem daunting. ❤
Absolutely stunning, Louise! Your instincts are spot on - both the turquoise background wash and the pan pastel added SO much. Thank you for sharing this with us. The big benefits we gain mentally and emotionally when we take time to create just for the joy of it are so worth the small amount of time from our necessary tasks. That is something I have to remind myself of often. I grew up with the value of “no play until all my work is done”. The problem with that is my work is never finished-there is always more to do… Thank you for the beautiful visual result of taking time out to play!
More than any watercolor video I have seen to date, this painting showed off the use of granulation at its best. Now I want to try some granulating pigments. (Schmincke should cut you a commission!) Thank you for sharing and hope to see more of Leo :)
Amazing. I LOVE all your work. I've only started watercolor the last 3 years. I'm almost 78. I'm learning tons from RUclips, but your my favorite. I don't know how many years I have ahead, but I'm enjoying drawing, colored pencils, pan pastels and watercolor. I need more practice in all, but watercolor is my favorite. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and tips. 🥰
What a beautiful painting Louise, you are such a master of detail and the subject is a wonderful animal. thank you for sharing your special talent with us x
LOVE the tutorial. As always. I have a question for generally everyone who works in water media. I'm about to move across the U.S. ( 2,000 miles) in the hottest time of the year and it has just dawned on me that my catalog of work (quite a stack of canvases) in the moving truck may be subjected to sweating. I don't work in watercolor alone...often a mixed media though and watercolor is in pieces. Has anyone taken special steps on a long distance move that they could share?
Breathtaking. Love the details. I have a set of Pan Pastels I have never tried because they say you need to spray them and it's always winter when I find time to try them so I keep putting it off. Didn't know you could enhance a watercolor with them. Do you have to spray or seal it someway? Really enjoyed the video.

Buy plastic sleeves from craft/art supply. Slip your pastel paintings in them. It will keep them smudge free until you frame them.
Hi Louise 😊 Is the ultramarine blue you are using in this painting, the same super granulating from the lion on the rock?
I doubt I have the correct spelling but what is the “harcay” brush you used to paint the background?
@@dianneheaney1448 it's a hake brush :)
It’s that lovely Australian accent that got me. 😊
@@dianneheaney1448 ahaha! No worries!! I loooove the accent! The way she says "banana" gets me every time
Hake brush.
