It's not about the scores - being excellent academically doesn't really mean much (contrary to popular belief). It's about how well you sell yourself and justify why you deserve the scholarship - which is why the essays are super important.

Yes, I believe an explanation is needed for each answer because the point of the interview is for them to hear what you have to say - your opinions and thought process... just like a job interview would go. Practice among your friends and family, perhaps? What specifically about the TOEFL test would you like to know?

Hi Shoki, it's up to you when you want to take TOEFL, I would recommend to do it after the selection period because: 1) if you're selected, the test will be paid for 2) if you pay on your own to input into the application, you don't get your money back whether you get selected or not. Regarding the timeline, I'm not sure anymore as it has changed, but usually around 2-3 months after the deadline has closed. Hi, Дурдона! The stipend is enough to get you through, considering room & board (and university bus), and books are covered separately. So the stipend is for your expenses. If you want to travel more than comfortably, then it's up to you! You can check Skyscanner/Greyhound/Bolt Bus etc, and Agoda/Airbnb for to have an estimate for the expenses

Hello Mark, I believe you can select your preferred intake on the application form (not sure if it has changed though). However, ultimately, World Learning determines the intake :)

Hi! I have been selected as finalist from GLOBAL UGRAD and got official letter from Fulbright and World Learning. My concern is that, I am currently pursuing my major in Mathematics subject but there in the US, I am looking for pursuing Foreign Service or Economic Diplomacy subject. Hi Mahlet, glad my videos have been helpful! Does the email mention you've passed the interview and you'll be part of the 2020/2021 cohort? TOEFL is usually done for the universities, not so much the scholarship. If unsure, best to contact your local organisation in charge.

Hi Priya! You will need to state clearly the history of which vaccination you have gotten, and take those which you have not. Yes, being an alternate candidate means you're first in line if a finalist does not participate.

Hi Zoirsho, hmm.. I went in December of the same year. The student ID would be from the host institution as your home university would not have anything to do with your host institution/exchange program. You MUST have AT LEAST one semester to complete after your exchange program - that's one of the eligibility criteria.

Hi, you will be opening an American bank account to receive the monthly stipend. Regarding the credit card, it's up to you - nothing's gonna happen lol How much you need also depends on how your expenditure is like. Living frugally, the stipend is good enough.

@@sabinalyv5620 Regarding your transcripts, you have to upload ALL your transcripts from the first semester till the present. As for the visa requirement, the 2-year rule is more for those who want to go back to the U.S. for residence/long-term visa purpose i.e. study, work..etc (other than tourism). You can still leave your country. Google about the J-1 visa to find out more.

Hi! I have been selected as finalist from GLOBAL UGRAD and got official letter from Fulbright and World Learning. My concern is that, I am currently pursuing my major in Mathematics subject but there in the US, I am looking for pursuing Foreign Service or Economic Diplomacy subject. This is because there is huge difference between course content of mathematics when comparing my home university and US university. similarly, pursuing afore mentioned subject will help me a lot in my career. Can I do this and if yes what should I do?

Hi Otabek, you can still visit as a tourist. The 2-year restriction is for studies/work/any other long term stay in the US.

Hi Siddhi, congratulations on being a finalist! No, I didn't encounter that issue. All the required documents should be on the same platform as the application. Did the email provide a link to it, as well? For technical questions, it's best to refer to World Learning :)

TOEFL is usually done for the universities, not so much the scholarship.
If unsure, best to contact your local organisation in charge.

Hi Isha, congratulations on getting through the first round! Yes, it is a J-1 visa requirement which requires you to return to your home country for 2 years. You can ask your advisor for more info on that :)

Hi Priya! You will need to state clearly the history of which vaccination you have gotten, and take those which you have not. Yes, being an alternate candidate means you're first in line if a finalist does not participate.

Hi Zoirsho, hmm.. I went in December of the same year. The student ID would be from the host institution as your home university would not have anything to do with your host institution/exchange program. You MUST have AT LEAST one semester to complete after your exchange program - that's one of the eligibility criteria.

Hi, you will be opening an American bank account to receive the monthly stipend. Regarding the credit card, it's up to you - nothing's gonna happen lol How much you need also depends on how your expenditure is like. Living frugally, the stipend is good enough.

Hi Amira, it was a different process back then. I was only asked to take the TOEFL after being selected as a finalist.

@@amirasalvador604 a finalist, a scholar, a participant. In situations where you're confused whether or not you got the scholarship, it's best to reach out directly to World Learning instead of assuming/being in doubt.

@@sabinalyv5620 Regarding your transcripts, you have to upload ALL your transcripts from the first semester till the present.
As for the visa requirement, the 2-year rule is more for those who want to go back to the U.S. for residence/long-term visa purpose i.e. study, work..etc (other than tourism). You can still leave your country. Google about the J-1 visa to find out more.
