Jackie Chan's stunts in his older movies are even more dangerous. Dude jumped off the 4th floor of a mall into a pole without a harness. He's so lucky to be alive after doing hundreds of stunts like this.
It is said that he has broken just about every bone in his body over his career. When asked why he does is own stunts, he said that when he is old he wants to be able to tell his grand and great grand children when they see his films, that that was him doing the stunts.

As they are both much older now, and Jackie has seriously toned down the action movie stunts for obvious reasons - not sure what a new Rush Hour movie would even look like now.
Yeah, but it's a great gateway movie into the world of Jackie Chan if you're someone who hasn't delved into much asian cinema before. Watch something as accessible as Rush Hour and then go for Police Story, Drunken Master, Young Master, Project A and so on. :)

Yeah, if you guys are unfamiliar with Jackie Chan then I highly recommend looking into some of his older movies. A lot of them are dubbed but if you can get over that they are a lot of fun. He is his own stuntman and he does the craziest stuff. Another movie that was popular in America is Shanghai Noon which I also highly recommend, but seriously, even on your own time watch some of his older movies. I admire Jackie Chan. While other movie greats prefer to sit back and leave the tricky stuff to the stunt people, there is arguably not a bone in this man's body that hasn't been broken during filming, or a muscle that hasn't been stretched, torn, or otherwise compromised. His stunt team is legendary, spanning multiple generations and all of its members are incredibly proud. Honestly, if I were these people, I'd be proud too.
Jackie Chan does all his own stunts. In fact, one of the reasons for the Rush Hour Films being made was because he can no longer get insurance in Asia for films because he's been injured so many times.
3 parts of this movie that really make me crack up laughing are: 1. When Carter starts dancing like Michael Jackson in the middle of the street after blowing the car up 2. When Lee and Carter are bonding and practicing disarming techniques while Edwin Starr's song "War" plays in the background 3. When Carter says "I know that ain't the bomb. The fastest hands in the East vs the fastest mouth in the West. Amazing movie, these two were brilliant together. And to think Jackie Chan has done a lot of his own stunts, sometimes without safety equipment, but he wasn't allowed to do the stunts in this movie without safety equipment.
