  • The Zero Turn Lawnmower game has changed! Yakta looks like an awesome machine and they have the best warranty in the industry, but how are they built? Come along to get a closer look at the Yatka brand of zero turn lawn mower as Rachel and I go on a Road trip to Ohio to check them out!. They boast a true bumper to bumper 5 year or 2,000 hour warranty that covers everything except the blades, battery, and tires! Built like a tank, with technology to boot, with easy maintenance in mind, Yakta is legit and may be our next mower! We looked in to the Yakta brand and liked what we found. Their parent company Arrowquip and they have a great track record in quality and customer support. But how much are they? We share some current pricing too. We also take a Quick Look at the Wright ZXT mower.

    There are folks who buy per brand because they think JD or scag is king. For me it's the engine, the hydros, and the chassis and materials...that there seems top notch especially for the price. And a great warranty.
    My only fear is the company honoring the warranty, some big company buying them out.

    I commented on your other video as well. I am commerical mower here in michigan. We started the company with snapper pros. Switched to exmarks lazer zs. We found the decks are too small and clumped very easily. It dosent make sense to have your employees to start and noon when the dew dries up. We finally switched to scag cheetahs. We now have over 40 Cheetah and cheetah 2s. They range from low hours to over 4000 hours. The one with 4000 hours has not been rebuilt. Neither the kawasaki engine or the hydrogear 5400. There are grease zerks everywhere. And serviceable filters. The 5400 is the biggest and beat transaxle used on a zero turn and they are 2 speed. Pair it up to your favorite engine. The gas gauge messed up and the dealer repaired within a day. Told me they would deal with the higher ups and get me on my way. Instead of waiting for authorization. Looks like a nice machine but John Deere also has many of the same features like the parking brake, I wonder if other zero turn makers do too. I've had the deck raising lock up but I like the ones where they can be lifted but don't lock up so you can raise it over obstacles, again, I like the Deere system more - maybe just me.
    My concern is that, while this may be a great company, they may not be in business in five years or may get out of the zero turn business.

    • @mosfet500
      @mosfet500 3 месяца назад

      @@hardworkingmanoutdoors Thanks for the reply. I did some research on Yakta, did you see the YT review someone did? My thinking is that it is overbuilt, it's stronger than it has to be and other parameters suffer, they always do.
      When engineers get a blank sheet they list parameters ant their importance, putting one higher on the list means another one is lower. For instance the extra weight means it uses more gas and overall cost is higher than it needs to be. I suspect the ride might not be as good as other machines also and that extra weight precludes it from some mower trailers filled with other equipment. There were also problems with grass expelling when doing high dense grass but in fairness to Yankta they say they're working on it. That's the difference in a company like Toro that has been building decks for decades, they don't make many of those mistakes.
      I'm not as concerned about getting parts but as you saw in my last post I did check Deere's parts on the zero I just ordered to make sure there weren't problems. I can understand, you got burnt, but maybe you overcompensated due to it and place it higher on the importance list than it needs to be?
      Will Yankta decide in a few years that there are too many players in the ztrak field and bow out, especially if sales don't go well? There are a lot of very good machines out there.

    Great video, very informative about the machine and yes, that warranty is amazing. Some downsides are that it's very new, which means the dealers are not as close as you would like or an actual shop that deals directly with repairing that brand that's just down the road from where you live. And as I stated before with it being so new, there is no actual usage reviews. For myself, I need to witness actual long-term use on a brand before I can actually accept proof that it's reliable. Sure, it has a great warranty, but for all anyone knows, you have to have that machine in the shop all the time every year because of issues that no one has even mentioned because of it being so new. But on the flip side, it might end up being the best mower you have ever seen or used, it's the unknown that would keep me from buying a newer brand mower like that.

    Nice looking mower and well spec'd but for how much? The 710 sounds pricey! Also, my nearest dealer is 60 miles away and the next one, 157 miles. Therefore, I have no dealer. That offsets the 24hr parts turnaround. Caterpillar has the same goal of 24 hours yet there's a dealer almost every block!
    That's the issue with a) a new startup brand and b) a manufacturer on the other side of the globe; distribution. That is always the key to support. That was the issue with JCB when I worked for them 30 years ago in the UK. Few US distributors, compounded by odd BSP hydraulic fittings.
    Also, the extended warranty is a known marketing strategy to try to persuade buyers and negate any worries over electronics and unknown reliability. Wirtgen did that. That may well change as experience builds.
    It'll be interesting to see how Yakta progress over the next 5 years with sales. The market is pretty saturated from what I see and they have to distinguish themselves with tech and support to be especially attractive against the established brands.
    I do like the tool-less approach to service, though access looked tight under the seat. I still prefer my Ferris from that aspect.

    • @hardworkingmanoutdoors
      @hardworkingmanoutdoors  4 месяца назад +1

      The 710 was around $12k which seems about right for that quality of mower. I believe they operate out of Canada as well. I believe their focus on customer support will go a long way in helping them succeed if done right.

    Completely missing the boat on actual suspension tech is a major hit to their marketing campaign. It may last like a WWII Sherman tank, but, if it's killing the rider and bouncing them into outer space, then all the other features are moot.

      I wouldn’t say that as a lot of the top commercial manufacturers only use suspension seats still. The seat on the Yakta is pretty impressive! I’d have to guess they’ll figure out a full suspension system soon and take their mowers to the next level.

    • @hardworkingmanoutdoors
      @hardworkingmanoutdoors  4 месяца назад +1

      Larry, with this one you do bounce but it’s a smooth bounce. You don’t jar like the seats with just springs or rubber dampeners. We were also going pretty fast over some not great ground. In the end especially if you have a bad back I’d say suspension would benefit you, but I don’t think this would be too bad if it was the route you went. Hopefully Yakta will come up with some type of suspension eventually to make their mowers even more impressive.
