      I was sharing 2 bathrooms (4 showers, 3 toilets) between around 12 girls, but I would rarely bump into anyone so it's definitely better than you think!

    Hey great video! I have a question tho, how many rooms are there in each floor in Oakland? And are they mix between boys and girls?
    I’m asking to figure out how many people have to share the bathrooms, I know you said 12 girls share 4 showers and 3 toilets in another comment, but would it be the same for the guys? Or do they have a completely different floor with their own set of toilets? How does it work exactly 😅 thanks!
    (Also side note, are the toilets kept clean or do they get dirty often? Not sure if you know how it is for the guys but at least from what you know)

    • @pimbd
      @pimbd  Год назад +3

      Thank you! So, in Oaklands there’s around 20 rooms on each floor and it is mixed between boys and girls. However the bathrooms are separated by gender. I was staying on the second floor in Oaklands and for the boys on my floor there was 1 bathroom with 2 toilets and 2 showers. However my floor was majorly female hence why they only allocated 1 bathroom to the boys and 2 for the girls. The university ensures they allocate enough female/male bathrooms to ensure there is enough. On the other hand my friend who was staying on the third floor had 2 boy bathrooms and only 1 girl bathroom. So It depends entirely on whether your floor will have more girls or boys but I promise that the facilities will be enough!
      Regarding the boys toilets and cleanliness there is a cleaner that comes in once every week to provide toilet paper and clean the toilets as well as the communal areas. Hope this helps! And of course let me know if you have any other questions :)

    Thanks for a very good overview! I have a question: it was no info about the gym, in another video (filmed 2 years ago by Aidan) it was said that the gym and snooker room exist, but are used as storage. Has anything changed?

    • @pimbd
      @pimbd  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@Elena-vv3kc hello luckily they renovated it last year and it was open for use last time I checked however you need a membership to enter. Once you arrive you can always ask reslife for information regarding the gym. However if that doesn’t work out they recently opened a gym group on Oxford road which is a 5 min walk from hulme hall

      @@chloeparkes8716 heyy, the rooms they would show you would probably be actual rooms located in hulme hall. This could potentially be one of the Oaklands block since it is one of the biggest blocks or houldsworth.

    Hi! do all the houldsworth rooms look like the one in the vid?? also for that block do you know how many are sharing bathrooms xx

    • @pimbd
      @pimbd  Год назад

      heyy so the rooms in houldswourth aren't all identical to this, but the furniture and materials are all the same. As for how many share bathrooms, I'd say that each bloc of a floor is sharing 8-10 between 10-12 people? There are several toilet facilities on each floor but of course these numbers are just rough estimates.

      Heyy, I applied for halls at the university of Manchester last year and I think I applied before the 31st of august. I believe that as long as you apply before this deadline you are guaranteed accommodation in your first year of study. As to whether or not they have stopped applications due to the cyber incident, I'm not too sure about that but my guess would be that the university would have set up alternative ways to apply so you should definitely contact the halls team directly about this.

      @@EmilyLeung-mn2ij of course, there were hall dinners which were organised quarterly and the hulme bar was also open every single night where you could socialise with others. I also remember that at the start of the year they organised a bowling trip, IKEA trip and a trip to York. We also had frequent movie nights as well where the hall organised an out door cinema. At the end of the year theres also a thing called "hulme fest" where theres a bunch of inflatables, bouncy castles and games. So you'll definitely have a lot of activities to get involved in!

      heyy, yes there is wifi it's called Eduroam. Once you're connected to Eduroam you'll have wifi all throughout campus including your halls! Eduroam also works abroad as I was able to connect to the wifi even when I was on exchange in Denmark. As for essentials I'd say definitely bring a pair of sliders as you'll definitely be using them. I'd also recommend bringing a mattress topper for your bed, but other than that I'm certain that you'll have an enjoyable stay :)
