What's the odds that we'd get another of these? I haven't laughed more in a while than listening to Graham pronouncing/guessing pokemon. Especially since I haven't played much of Pokemon since Gen 2
1. Ben no, Inkay is great because it has possibly THE most absurd evolutionary requirement of any pokémon. 2. The anime finally called out the Dragonite issue in a recent episode. Ash and the new companion have a brief conversation about how among the three, Dragonite "stands out" and how you'd think Dratini would evolve into something more like Milotic. But it gets better, because then later in the episode (I guess this is probably the climax of it so SPOILER WARNING) Ash is falling to his death and the Dratini that got introduced earlier in the episode evolves so it can catch Ash and fly him to safety, so Ash, using one of the most beautiful examples of children's logic I've ever seen, decides that Dragonite has arms so it can save its friends. 3. Galarian Weezing in fact eats air pollution and farts out clean air. Don't question it. 4. I agree that the fossil pokémon in this game are awful... But there's kind of a really good reason for them being terrible. The concept for these mismatched fossils comes from how when people first started discovering dinosaur fossils and trying to reconstruct the creatures they came from, they had no idea what they were doing, and invented all kinds of absurd looking nonsense not too dissimilar from what you get in these games. 5. The keys are not part of Klefki's body. It steals them. 6. Conkeldurr is holding concrete pillars. Still doesn't explain the name, though. Or the nose. 7. Y'all need to do more episodes of this. Please.
When you said they explained the "Dragonite issue" I thought you meant from the 1st season with that giant Dragonite they summoned during the Bill episode.
re: the SwSh fossils, I always assumed the joke there was about real-life British paleontologists in the 19th century just mashing together bits of fossils and coming up with all sorts of "new species," most of which ended up being wrong.
That is absolutely right. Also the Scientist who takes your fossils has an air of superiority that just reeks of Victorian era ignorance. Also odd socks.
I'm just glad that Aegislash and it's preevolutions got in. It literally is a sword and shield. Meanwhile, Solrock and Lunatone, pokemon that are based off the sun and the moon, could not be caught in Sun and Moon.
"Haunter is out" *Hovers mouse over thumbs down* "Gengar is in!" *Clicks Like* These are good, I would watch more of these. Vote for Scyther and I'll forgive giving Nidoking the axe.
Scolipede is great because it basically marked the generation when Bug types started to be generally good instead of only a few exceptions being good. It's also one of the first Bug types you get in that game and has good stats so you're likely to keep it for the whole playthrough.
Honestly, I think that there should be a Play it Foward of Graham, and two other folks who haven't played Pokemon, picking up one copy of each part of the Gen, with Heather and Ben as "coaches" who can help them along.
@@GGCrono I mean, maybe, but I doubt it. None of the first two are a portmanteau, but end with the same suffix because they are just words. That would be a complex leap for a final form in a pattern, when the others are obvious.
Like many others, I liked this a lot and would like to see more please. Also, even if I didn't care for Pokemon, I'd still support LRR doing a sit down chat like this. Talk about what you love. 👍
I wasn't fond of the Galarian fossils when I first encountered them, but after some thought I thought it was brilliant, and one of my favourite concepts. Plus it supports the fan theory I've seen that the pokédex entries are just made up by the ten year olds as they catch them, because there's no way Dracovish, powerful as it is, was ever an apex predator.
" It's just a ball with arms! I hate it" "It's a cute little ball with arms! I love it" Bagon? No.. Primeape? no... Geodude? yes... Spheal? yes.. Ben confuses me sometimes.
The idea behind a lot of Fairy Pokemon, especially Klefki, being object-based is how fairies are mischievous and disguise themselves as or steal everyday objects. The idea of Pokemon being "monsters" ties into many being based on Yokai too, which in Japanese folklore often come in the form of household objects that have existed long enough to gain a spirit.
I had a great time watching this and would absolutely be down for more of this. I also enjoyed how much things I didn't know Graham didn't know about Pokemon
7:28 I agree ben, Pikachu is the worst. (well not really I just think it's overexposed. And gen 1 chubby pikachu is better than the later thin pikachu.
Dragalge is actually based off of a species of seahorse that looks like a clump of seaweed! They're super neat. Good video. Graham's reactions were definitely the highlight. I would love to see this continued as, if not a full video, then at least a bit on Live.
@31:00 Plenty of folks might already be aware of this, but the inspiration behind the Fossil Mons is based on the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs in London. It was an exhibit of prehistoric creatures made in the 1800s, and is very famous now for its inaccuracies to the fossil record, and a representation of growth of paleontology as a science. But basically they did the same thing that happened here in pokemon, which was just mix and match the heads and asses of various animals and went "looks good to me!"
4:33 Hell yeah, food-based Pokemon nicknaming gimmick! It's surprisingly both entertaining and challenging. Doing that for my Pokemon White playthrough. (I'm... catching up on my personal Pokemon journey after I fell off the bandwagon years and years ago.)
This was great, simply for watching Graham's reactions to Pokemon he didn't know about. I'd love to see an episode that's just Ben introducing Graham to all of the Pokemon! Or several episodes, probably.
I haven't played in a long time, but I love this kind of content. Just a few people around a table talking about amusing stuff. Please finish all 400! :)
They just don't like bugs it seems. Scolipede is like, one of my Favs and Joltik is cute AF. DDDD: EDIT: These people have erratic tastes. Lots of Edits. The fossil thing in SWSH is because British paleontologists are known for just, combining bones to make monstrosities. Iguanadon is a good example.
This just reminded me that there's so many Pokemon that would be absolutely *terrifying* to have in real life... Then there's Espeon. I'd be absolutely down to have an Espeon as a pet.
I believe in pokemon Y, or alpha sapphire, it is stated that people will give keys to klefki, his head is the only key that is part of his body. In X and omega ruby, the dex says they threatened predators by *Furiously jingling its keys*

Yep, it was originally going to be in the cycle of the legendary birds before they decided they wanted a full bird theme. It's even referenced in pokemon s1 episode 2 at the pokecenter. There is some sort of rock carving on the wall that has the 3 legendary birds and arcanine arranged in a square.
Well, I'm still working on my dex, I'm only missing the stupid legendaries that got released once and never again, so I've definitely (almost) caught them all! This was recorded in December, before the DLC was announced. So... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I love it regardless. Serious pokemon discussion, but not too serious, with great hosts, is my jam.
