For such a young man, you have really helped as a 72 year old, 180 average bowler. I have both balls and I tend to use the Pitch Black more often because I can control the pocket. Don't ALWAYS carry, but I still feel more comfortable with the Pitch Black. I'm practicing shooting 10 pins with a straight wrist instead of buying a plastic ball.
As Accurately mentioned in the video, these are the two most popular urethane balls in THE LAST DECADE. "Maybe ever" only speaks to their future potential. Those fast pitch balls are urethane/reactive blends, and not all urethane. This was a good comparison video for Rev dominant bowlers to consider.
Would love for Jimoo to show/explain or tell his layouts on these balls. As I have a similar approach and release this would be very beneficial to know for a noob to urethane. Love the channel! Thanks fellas
Layouts don't matter nearly as much as covers on the average ball, and it's even less so on urethane. Urethane balls (typically) have pretty weak, low-flaring cores, so you're not going to see any significant difference between layouts. I'm not saying layouts don't matter, but they're not worth overthinking on urethane.
32 years ago, I got my first HP ball, which was the Faball Blue Hammer. I was 15 at the time barely with a 160 average. First game out of the box was a 256. 3 weeks later, I picked up the Faball Blue Pearl Hammer. Best 1-2 combination I ever had. That Blue Hammer, 300 game and all, is still in my bag, to be replaced when my new favorite urethane ball either comes stateside or is found at a good price: Black Widow Purple Pearl Urethane.
I've never thrown any true urethane, but the microcell polymer in the motiv covert tank has been a heaven sent to my game on broken down patterns and even simple house shots when I add surface to it
Ive honestly never thrown a urethane ball and have been looking into it for about a month and thought I was going to get a pitch black. But all this hype on the purple hammer recently has got me second guessing and after this review i definitely need something thats going to come back harder from going up the middle into the thick of the oil. I think jimoo made my decision for me haha
I’m partial to the Brunswick family. But the pitch black is solid. The hammer is pearl. They’re entirely different and could compliment one another to be honest.
Favorite urethane ball is an old school amf pearl cobra. I have not gotten to throw any of the new urethane stuff. But the purple hammer, motiv tank and fast pitch are the ones on my radar
I have tossed the very first Urethane the AMF Angle back in the 80’s Hammer Nail and the revised Hammer Blue. Today I have fallen in love with my newly acquired Fast Pitch. A little stronger than the Pitch Black around the corner. Can’t wait to get my hands on a pitch Purple?
How about if you get someone who’s not up two hander with it possibly like yourself so we could see what the two balls do in the hands of a non-two hander? Would luv to see that.
Black Widow Purple Urethane (overseas) has become my new fav. Has a sharper motion than PH but that core puts it hard into the pins and really gets the pins moving.
As I last commented that I have a Pitch Purple, and was commented on which it isn't, I will still have to say, that is my favorite "urethane" ball I have used till this point, and wouldn't complain any further on that 😂😁
Storm natural is a damn good ball, with shine i can play way outside, it gets farther and holds more energy for the pins without losing its urethane like the purple did for me
I don't have a purple or pitch black. I have two urethane options. Both pearls. First one out of my bag I hit with 360 right away. And that's my early 90s Retro C300 U2 pearl. My second option is a little newer from the mid 2000s. The C300 Trooper. It's also a pearland I put that on a resurfacing machine with the CTD p5000d pad for about 8 minutes. Much cleaner without polish. Those are my options. I have a Radical Spy but haven't thrown it yet to ball down even further.
I throw a u2 classic from like a decade ago as my urethane but its not super for me. It often hooks early and goes straight then hooks a little at the end. As such... I'm looking for a purple hammer right now!
Just got myself a purple hammer, mines a 1inch pin up, its suuuper strong for my speed/revs. 18/19kph, 500-550revs, i start around 25/30 aiming at 20/25. This thing seems to love friction and almost ignore oil - im not super consistant on release placement, i can miss 5left and it'll still carry brooklyn. 10/10 love as my first urethane. Also now need to buy a pitch black as the hammer is way too strong for what i expected XD
I'd love to see G-moo throw some of the Motiv Tank balls. The Blitz is easily the best ball I've ever thrown, and the Desert Tank has a pretty dedicated following as well.
If they’re smart they’d do reviews on other companies because it’d give them views, the desert tank is my favorite ball I’ve ever thrown. Purple hammer was my go-to on tougher patterns but the desert tank has been way more usable on a more variety of patterns.
wouldn't the fast pitch be closer to the purple hammer or maybe the u-motion. I got the hammer on preorder but i just recently found a fanatic btu pearl and i'm in the process of plugging and re-drilling. found it while removing my cracked pitch purple from my rack, LOL. maybe it was a sign.
@@jrproshop true dat, I see a lot of people using the pitch black for dual purpose spares and first ball so the versatility makes it useful. whereas I hardly see anyone using purple hammers for spares but you can shape a purple hammer like a reactive. So both balls stand out., have to try a pitch black one of these days.
Congratulations you now have fell into every 2 hander evers love affair with the purple hammer, in many like pitch black but ever 2 handed ik who isn't staff or is brunswick staff loves that ball
Finally, there is one more video performed by Jimoo. I'm about to get my purple hammer and really excited to throw it! I always want a ball has a bit more back-end and the shape down the lane. I really enjoy this video and can't wait to bowl!
I just bought the Purple Hammer because my guy at the Pro Shop said it was the best but I'd like to buy the Pitch Black too. Can't have too many orbs!!
Spot on as usual Boys!!! That "Simo" back up ball was SWEET Jimoo! So, I don't have a Urethane Ball, I don't do lots of tourney's just our house and a few spots around town, but have more balls than I should ;)...I'm Storm 95%, but have 4 Hammer balls the latest the Black Window Purple, because it's purple pretty much but it's a beast! Anyway would a Urethane ball be good for me to look at...Our house breaks down fast at times during league. It's very humid now as well if that matters. Anyway I lover Purple so hmmm...I hope Timmy Mack doesn't ditch me if I pick it up...LOL I'd rather they say I have Balls than none...
Now for someone that’s a little newer to the world of bowling, I’m a pretty big guy, is a 16lb ball generally what someone like myself should go with when looking for their first ball?
It all has to do what you're comfortable with, if you can bowl 3-6 games with a 16 and not have any wrist or hand soreness then by all means go for it. But you do get some soreness maybe starting with a 14 and working your way up is best.
Like they said, go with what your comfortable with... Unlike most sports, in bowling size doesn't really matter... I'm 5'3 and weigh about 145, and I've used a 15lb since I was about 16... All has to do with the best feel for you
The 15lb will give you the same power with less strain on your arm. I’ve even went down to a 14lb when injured and not seen any dip in carry. I actually advocate for most amateurs to go with the 14lb for easier control
It's crazy that storm has been trying to initiate the purple hammer for so long and just can't do it. I had a fever pitch and pitch black and the fever pitch does hook 3-4 boards more, but just doesn't hit like the hammer. Same goes for the pitch purple, would love to see a comp of those two.
I'd like to know something. I am looking for a ball for a court that is not cleaned properly. Oil is actually applied to the court. On top off an old layer of oil Is a Eurotothain ball good for that? I play at a high speed and my balls don't get any grip (no Eurothain balls). Can anyone give me advice. I'm thinking about buying a Eurothain ball, but I don't know which one yet
Question! Kinda unrelated to this video, BUT, I am thinking about getting the new Hammer Web, however does it fit my bag correctly? I have the asym solid Obsession Tour, followed by asym pearl Guantlet Fury, what would be the Web a sym pearl, the sym solid Blue Vibe, and the Purple Hammer Urethane. Does the Web make sense? I know it's similar to the Fury in terms of power but reaction and ball motion should be completely different plus the Fury lives for heavier oil patterns while the Web lives for medium. Just thought it makes sense for transition, and I'm a lefty if that helps too! Hopefully you guys can help!
@thomas me too, lefty 2 hander, my ball I have now always hooks before it gets to the head pin, it’s a Hammer Black Widow Legend, I wonder if that Pitch Black would work for me,? it’s what Storm suggested I try!

What is the pitch black more comparable to, the black hammer?
Jimoo is so dope with the reviews!!! More please?
I own a Hot Cell but I haven't drilled it yet. I'll get back to you on that.
Thanks JR Team. Looking forward to having a Urethane ball in my arsenal soon!
Purple hammer vs fast pitch would be good comparison video
Definitely curious of the age/layout/surface of the two balls compared to each other.

Brunswick's twister, its old school. For dry and a good spare ball. But up the 5 I have two 300 games on it

There’s definitely a gap between those 2 urethane balls. A Fast Pitch would be perfect to fill that gap

Could you do a comparison with the Pitch Purple and the Purple Hammer?
Pitch purple will be more down lane for sure as it is a mix of reactive and urethane in the cover
Pitch Black is always my go to
Is it counterproductive to have both? Or the more options the better for different lane conditions
Not a bad idea to have both, especially on short patterns to give yourself some different looks
