    ABOUT BECKET:
Becket Cook was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He attended Jesuit College Preparatory
School of Dallas. After graduating from Austin College in Texas, Becket moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of writing and acting, finding success in both. He eventually went on to become a production designer working with the top photographers and directors in the world on fashion shoots for magazines such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, and for ad campaigns such as Gap, L'Oréal Paris, and Nike.
Finding a new sense of freedom in L.A., Becket also fully engaged in his new life as a gay man. He had a series of many relationships with men throughout the next fifteen years.
In September of 2009, Becket met a stranger at a coffee shop in Silver Lake who invited him to his church in Hollywood called Reality L.A. Becket reluctantly agreed to attend the service. After hearing the sermon that Sunday, Becket was utterly transformed by the gospel and gave his life to Christ. He also knew on that day when God revealed Himself to him that homosexuality was a sin and that he could no longer live that life. Becket was more than happy to count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his Lord.
Becket spends much of his time in ministry speaking at churches, universities, and conferences helping believers (and non-believers) understand this issue biblically, theologically, culturally, and personally. Balancing grace and truth when teaching on this subject is of primary importance. His goal is to challenge the current cultural narrative about sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular by demonstrating through his personal testimony and biblical truths that, yes, homosexuality is still a sin, and that following Christ is infinitely more satisfying and joyous.
He has lived all over the world in major cities such as Rome, Vienna, and Tokyo.
Becket graduated from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in 2017 with a Master of Arts in Theology.
Becket’s book, A Change of Affection: A Gay Man’s Incredible Story of Redemption, with a
foreword by Francis Chan, published by Thomas Nelson, released July 30, 2019.

I can attest to Rosaria & her husband Kent's radical hospitality. My daughter battles a rare disease and had to go to Duke to see a specialist. We have mutual friends with the Butterfield's. Hearing that we were coming, tho we were strangers to them, Kent and Rosaria reached out to us and said, "Come, stay with us and eat with us". We had already made plans to stay in a hotel across from the hospital but Kent met us as soon as we arrived, and with a dozen donuts ;-) We ate lunch together and talked for hours. He also prayed for us. Rosaria met us for dinner at a Thai restaurant. She was just like this: smart, engaging, articulate, radical, fun & loving. When we were leaving to go back home, Kent insisted on praying us off and gave us a gift bag from he and Rosaria FULL of healthy snacks, a gift card for a meal, and a book on John Owen. Rosaria's mother was in hospice at the time and she still made the effort to see us. They are a living example of living out the gospel in radical ordinary ways.

@@gailbonham332 I started to realize how unfulfilling my life was. (I know someone must have been praying for me even as you are praying for your son). I started to ask God real questions from the heart. "Is Jesus real (I always believed in God but wasn't sure about the Jesus stuff)? Why do people go to church? What is life about? And what does it matter anyways?" God heard my prayers because I truly wanted to know. I walked into a Catholic church on Good Friday and God gave me an 'open vision'. I never heard of an open vision but here is how I can describe it to you. It was like a T.V. screen playing in front of me as if I was truly seeing it. Here is what I saw...I saw Jesus dying on the cross as if it was happening. In one second God answered ALL of my questions. Jesus IS real! It sin't about "going" to church, it is about Him! He is what life is about!! Then God spoke to me. I NEVER knew God could speak to you. He said, "You looked everywhere else for love but I love you and I died for your sins." My life was completely changed. I started to read my bible, which I went and bought the following week. I never drank again or did drugs (though I had to resist temptation). I knew I wasn't gay anymore deep inside (though for a season I had to resist temptation). I lived that life fully so God started to teach me how to discipline my mind and not just let it think whatever it wanted. If I had a lustful thought, I would change what I thought about to something good. Temptations became less and less as I leaned on Jesus!! I hope this gives you hope for your son. I had NO Christians in my life, though I believe there were people praying for me. God stepped in and saved me Himself. God hears your prayers. Never give up. And don't worry about "Happy" your son may seem, without Jesus we are all empty, whether we are straight or homosexual!! We all need Him!

@@aaronmonroe7932 Your argument is flawed, because you are forgetting/missing out the fact that our bodies are FALLEN! Before the fall, indeed, our bodies were not inclined to sin. God saw His creation and said it was good (Gen 1:31).
BUT THEN, in Genesis 3, SIN entered into the world, and all mankind, earth and beasts FELL. AND suddenly, man became sinful and selfish, and ran away and hid from God.
Our fleshly bodies are carnal, and sinful in nature. They are not inclined to do the will of God, and we have to discipline it and bring it under our dominion.
Mat 26:40 And he came to the disciples, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, What, could you not watch with me for one hour?
Mat 26:41 Watch and pray, that you enter not into temptation: *the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.*
Jesus told Peter, James and John to STAY AWAKE and PRAY. They yielded to their flesh and FELL ASLEEP. Jesus came and found them sleeping, and was NOT happy about it. So quite obviously, we should NOT yield to every desire our bodies present us with, because, again, as I said, our bodies are FALLEN.

It sounded like, to me, that God asked her to leave and move on. He placed others there to take her place. He is loving and kind.
I also came out of homosexuality. God had me reach all (or at least most) of my friends. I would say most heard the gospel but then one by one God removed them. He was changing the season. One of my favorite and dearest mentors of my life lived as a lesbian for many years. I knew her after the fact, and finding out about her former life stunned me. You'd never know based on how she lived her life. I actually might have respected her more after hearing her story and struggles. We sang together on worship team at the last church I went to, and her love of God was so obvious in everything she did.
Some people left our church when they found out about her former life, believing a sinner of THAT magnitude could ever be in a position of leadership (I remember a certain man who had a life changing journey to Damascus, but I digress). I saw in her the power of God to change hearts and lives. She passed away a few months ago. It broke my heart, but she is whole and happy and worshiping God face to face. I was very sad we lost her, but I'm so happy that she is out of pain and in pure joy.

I think you should learn to embrace your daughter rather then expect the worst from her. And if you’re expecting her to simply just ‘follow the movement’, then maybe you should look at yourself and what you’re doing right now. You wouldn’t be a Christian if it was not for the support and hive-like mindset that came with it.

Church consumers, judges, more than participants. I really hate churches but wonder if it's my problem. I wasn't hospitable myself. Always held back. The times I felt closest to God, I was taking the most risks with smaller, broken churches. About 20 or so years ago, I worked for a subsidiary of UPS, making special deliveries for them. One of the office managers was a lesbian named Cathy. We developed an affinity, and one day when we were in the warehouse (near Dulles Airport, outside of Wash. D.C.), she told me that she loved me. I said-'wait a minute, I thought you were a lesbian?' She goes-'I am, but maybe I'm actually bisexual', or something to that effect. I said-'Cathy, there's another name for bisexuality: It's called cheating. If you practice bisexuality, you are cheating on someone. If the 'B' is equal with the 'LGT' (as in 'LGBT'), then that's one of the indications of what's wrong with the whole 'gay' scene. I then revealed to her that I had a past with same-sex behaviour, and I came away from that with the belief that there's something very wrong with it, and that it goes to the soul and spirit. Soon after, as I was leaving the office/warehouse, the other office manager, who had been listening to my conversation with Cathy, stopped me as I was about to leave for the day. His name was Don, and he said-'Thomas, someday you are going to join me.' I said-'What do you mean, Don?' He said-'Thomas, I'm a Christian; someday, you are going to do the same thing as I, and confess Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.' I wondered what happened to Cathy. I'm pretty sure of what happened to Don. He's probably with the Lord by now. Amen.

It was 1976, NYC, and one evening I found myself in a club called 'Catch A Rising Star' (where singer Pat Benatar would eventually be discovered); and on this particular evening, who was doing a stand-up comedy act was eventual 'Seinfeld' co-creator, Larry David. He comes out on stage (and in those days, he still had hair: He looked like Larry of The Three Stooges with a real bad hangover), and just stands there, glaring hatefully at the audience for a few minutes. At that point, some woman in audience starts heckling him; at which point, he turns to her and then turns to the audience and says-"there I go again, folks; driving women to lesbianism." Around that time, also in NYC, I found myself one evening, at a recording session for Deborah ('Blondie') Harry. She was just finishing up a song from her first album entitled-'In The Flesh' (and still a favorite of mine). I met my former girlfriend the following evening at some nightclub in Connecticut. I still love this woman. The last time I talked to her, over the phone, we got into an argument over religion and The Bible. Her surname is Johnson. She didn't break up with me for a woman. I didn't drive her to that. But WHO she originally left me for-well, that's another story.

She originally met The Who in Boston back in 1971, when they were on tour on behalf of their "Who's Next" album. I remember asking her what is her favorite song from that album. She wouldn't say. I see so much of my own journey in what she says having come out of the New Age movement in 1988 and having my world turned upside down. I wasn’t looking for Jesus at the time. I believed the lie that he was simply one of many gurus. When a friend hit me with Holy Spirit filled truth I was changed at my core, I was a huge mess because everything I had believed was absolutely wrong. I was changed in an instant but sorting through the disaster of my mixed up brain took a few years, and it included having to learn to differentiate between the devil’s lies and nagging voices in my head and what was actually true. Several years of fighting insanity by prayer and Bible reading were involved.

She said it right. She said "I betrayed them". When I got married to a man, my bisexual identity was erased from the outside unless I went around telling everyone about it. That hurt a lot to be percieved as strait when I was not. It was a hard identity shift imposed from the outside. On the inside, and if anyone cared to know, I identified as bisexual. For years. I became Christian and it was still how I self identified. I was determined to continue to love myself and hope God forgave me. A few months ago I realized I did not have to identify that way anymore. I suppose I am still attracted to women, but as the years pass I feel more and more only attracted to my husband and don't have those thoughts much anymore. I let that identity go. However when I did, it came with a sense that I betrayed the lgbtq+ community. But I am wiling to have a little grief for my freedom. I never knew this would happen.

I couldn't help but think as I listened, that so many of us take forever to form some kind of identity most especially if we weren't guided & raised in Christian homes. It's SO important for parents to model healthy identities & "bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord." This was such a thought provoking talk - it made me really stop and consider what it means to pray for the lost. I pray for the lost many times a week (my list always grows and never shrinks) but I never considered the aftermath. I always pray "God above all else", but never stop to think about the hard part. I need to do that more and consider what it means to be a person who gives them a house key, so to speak. Thank you SO MUCH for bringing that to my attention. May God bless you for it.

What touched me about Rosarios testimony was her commitment to understanding the gospel even before she was saved, namely that she read the Bible through 7 times in one year! I feel like I've accomplished an unusual feat if I read it through in a year, and that's an inconsistency and lack of passion about my Savior that must be remedied with God's help, from this point forward. The radical hospitality was also just incredible, and that is the heart of the gospel; greater live hath no man than to lay down his life for his brother. Astoundingly beautiful testimony of how to walk on this earth as a Christian and how to truly take up our cross and follow Jesus and perhaps I should of led with that, but it did trouble me to hear biological men referred to as she by Christians because I think that's denying the truth. I also wonder what happened to Matthew. I've listened to hundreds of amazing testimonies but this one was singular and convicting in its message of devotion to God's Word/Jesus and radical hospitality, in taking in the stranger and loving our fellow man; in as much as you've done it unto the least of these you've done it unto Me. Christianity is radical at its core, and this should be the norm for all of the truly born again. Lord Jesus please help me to be normal like never before. Astoundingly important message.

How beautiful it is that some of the most profound, deep, solid, uncompromised discussions of our Holy God are happening with people who practiced the lifestyle so abhorrent to the contemporary Christian culture. That’s a beautiful irony. These conversations are so inspiring and make me rejoice in Biblical truth and are among the most inspiring Christian testimonies I’ve heard. Much respect to you Becket for having her on. The first lesbian I ever met was a graduate professor who claimed she chose to be gay and that she believed sexuality was a choice. I never met such an intellectual before like that. I would be intimidated trying to share the gospel with someone like that who lives in their heads to the point of rewriting reality. I later met a young woman who said that when she went to Wellesley women's college, they trained her to be a lesbian. She went in as a heterosexual and graduated a lesbian. Can you image her parents sent her there for a disciplined education, not to become a lesbian?! So there is a trend in academia to teach homosexuality as a choice.

Later I met another woman and I am sure I fell in love with her and wanted to explore my feelings, but she denied, refused to talk about or to me, I would call and she hung up the phone every time. It was a very tough time. I never fell attracted to anybody else, a couple of men left me cold, never interested, so...I don't know what my sexuality is. I can relate to a lesser degree. Although I was raised in a Christian home and have never been lesbian myself, for a number of years in and after college, I was loosely part of the emergent church and was relatively liberal in many of my views. I suppose it was a rebellion, or a departure from the conservative environment in which I was raised. I had several gay and lesbian friends. Even after getting out of the emergent Church and also out of the sinful lifestyle I was living, I still wasn’t as outspoken, and lacked discernment in certain areas. A couple years ago, I prayed and asked the Lord for wisdom and very soon my eyes were opened to so many truths in His word! I started realizing things at the church I was attending that weren’t Biblical. I ended up leaving a group that I’d been a part of, at two different churches, after eight years! I was convicted because it was founded by a church that’s led by a person who’s not Biblically sound and whom some consider a heretic. I suppose you could say I went through a “Cage Stage” for a while, and lost several (not all) friends who used to know me as a more “tolerant” individual. The most difficult is when the person I called my best friend cut me off completely because she supported abortion and other progressive stances, and I was advocating for life for the unborn. It hasn’t been easy, and thankfully the Lord has sustained me, even through the intense times where I was listening to and reading so much.

You haven't been brought into the presence of true Christians my friends, sad to say. Ask God for real relationships, too often we're alienated because we don't ASK! Then don't be afraid to just talk about Jesus, you'll be amazed!

Amazing to get insight from a person once being a lesbian and then by the Grace of God now a practicing Christian.Gods word is so clear on this hard topic that tends to be suger coated by the church to pretend inclucivity and acceptance. The truth will always set you free. Thank you so much.

What Rosaria said at the start about not knowing what it was truly like to be a "proper woman" was so powerful on so many levels. It's amazing how many women never knew how to be a proper woman until we came to know Christ.

This is very inspirational. I don’t deal with same sex attractions, but I have struggled with porn, masturbation and general feeling of unworthiness. I grew up in a home where I was told that I was stupid and worthless. When you are a kid you begin to feel you have no value and you turn to porn to fill a void. Porn and masturbation became my drug of choice. I occasionally struggle with the same sin, but I pray that Christ gives me a way out, the same way he gave this great lady a way out. She said that she prayed a prayer that she would be made the way God wants her to be. I pray that same prayer.

@@gwk123 Courage is for people with same sex attraction issues, which wasn’t relevant to my set of issues. Porn and related issues were the discussion point.

This was a powerful, insightful interview, thank you so much. There is such a strong emphasis in the world of entertainment to view this lifestyle as an acceptable choice, and that if you do not believe this and fall in line, you are considered to be a heartless bully. The idea is to forgot what God's word clearly says and instead to believe this lifestyle is acceptable and good because, hey Lady Gaga says you are born this way. it takes a lot of courage to reach out to young people with the truth, and they really need to hear this because the other side has many advocates and their goal is to spread disinformation and intimidation.
