For the Tacoma, the TRD Off-road is 90% the same truck as the TRD Pro. You can get the wheels and skids for the TRD Off Road if you like, but they're not much better than whats on the Off-road. Same power train. Both have crawl control and a locker as well. The TRD Pro has a 1" lift and slightly beefier suspension that needs rebuilding every 60k to maintain performance. The TRDOR is where the value is at if you care about off-roading. The pro is about looks more than an upgrade over the off-road

@@mini2nut67 resale? You're correct, but you're paying for a name at that point.
Looks are extremely subjective. Personally, I like the wheels and skid plate, which you can get or put on the TRD Off Road if you really want. I do not like the grille. Mostly because it's the most over-done mod on these trucks. The rest is pretty much the same aside from badging.

Hay guys, good morning from Illinois... I have been watching since 2018, and I'm in the auto industry. My input is that truck prices are so high customers are waking away... Americans 🇺🇸 will be keeping their trucks for a long time. I own a 2018 f150 Platinum, with 70,000 miles and I would love to get a new f250, but it makes NO since in the high market today. I would have to buy used but intreast will be high, plus throw in higher retail pricing and total inflation, I'm out. I will be driving my truck for years to come... I make great money, but the truck market has moved on without me... Trucks are truly $20,000 to high considering inflation is only up 23% over the last 5 years... I would like more conversations with manufacturers about lowering their costs and shareholder value. The Banks boys.

We finally went in to buy a new 2023 Ram Laramie 2500 and were blown away at the price increases. So much so we walked away. I may just drive my F150 until prices drop or we get a clear picture of what the future technology looks like. I would hate to spend 80k and have a boat anchor in 10 year with no resale.

I would actually think it would be beneficial to carry a small 3 cylinder generate or something smaller, light, clean, that could be removable, so you only use it on road trips, and have it in a hold charge mode that sloely charges the battery, enough that you might go 10 miles with a 1 mile battery penalty on flat ground at highway speeds (65-75mph), so on average you could go 4 times longer than the battery alone before needing a recharge and fuel. This allows us to get rid of range anxiety with a smaller battery (100 miles range) as that is all most need and is usable for most people lives, but you can go on a longer trip or tow with your electric truck across a few states feasibly.

  • @270eman
    @270eman Год назад +1

The problem with used inventory is interest rates are sky high. It doesn't even make sense to buy used because you will be at like 8% APR with really good credit. So you may as well buy a new vehicle. I think midsize truck is the best for the avg person to. You can tow a decent amount, decent sized bed, ride is not to bad, they are not to expensive for a normal trim level, and they are easy to park. Heavy duty has tons of capability but they are big, expensive, annoying to park, and they ride really rough since the suspension is more stiff to handle bigger payloads. Diesel is not meant to be driven short distances and shut off over and over. All you need for offroad is 4wd. An SR5 Tacoma 4x4 is more than 98% of people will ever need. A good set of offroad tires and 4wd will get you most places.

Here’s a tip you may or may not know about towing an RV trailer or a camper with water tanks!
Never fill your water tanks until your close to your destination ( unless they’re is no water from point a to b )
You will be surprised at what a difference it made in power and fuel efficiency!
It worked well during the 60’s through the 70’s camping and fishing back when hp was under 200 hp and a 4sp. ( granny gear ) with 3.73 gearing would scream at 60+ mph.
It may not be as helpful with today’s engines and transmissions but, why carry extra and waste fuel and added stress to your power train than you need to!
I disagree with Roman’s ZR 2 ( you get what you see) pick for the worst pick! I’d say based in part to TFL’s experience and it’s sheer cost I’d pick the Hummer EV!

The cloth bucket seats are very comfortable. Plus it rides very soft compared to other trucks I have owned. Try to buy one at the end of the year when they offer 15 to 20 percent off as I did. @@TFLtalk I've been a tech for 35 years. I've owned my own shop and have done work on multiple vehicle manufactures products. Ford products are just not as reliable as Toyota products and this applies to the F150 and Tundra comparison. There are many organizations such as JD Power and Consumers Report that would agree with my view. Please respond to why you feel the F150 is as reliable as the Tundra. BTW great podcast and I enjoy watching all your videos.

Depends on your usage need. If mpg most impirtant, get the prius. If you just want it as grocery getter, and little hauling toyota tacoma. Cant pull a slick string out of a cats arse. I know i owned one. Ford if they fixed cam phaser issue ok but after a blown engine at 100k, no more for me. Engines problem. Chevy ok for general needs. If you need to tow and need torque go full size. There is a reason you dont see haulers being pulled by toyotas. I pull and my ram with cumins pulls same full as empty.

Except instead of that stupid cvt, a regular automatic.
I promise that thing will be the first or second best selling trim of the tacoma.

I completely disagree with the ZR2. It doesn't need the insane horsepower and it was never sold as a raptor killer except by the media. Not only is it the only top end offroader that is reasonably priced but it's a truly dedicated offroader, it's not sold as a dune runner and isn't built like one. I don't live in the desert so I'd take a silverado ZR2 over a raptor or TRX any day for offroading here in NC.

All of the dealers either have barebone work trucks or top of the line 80k+ trucks. There's nothing for anyone who wants something reasonable. I've been needing to move up to a 3/4ton for towing for the last 2 years and these prices have kept me out of the market. It's just been awful as every manufacturer has been raising their prices non stop. The RAM 2500 I was looking at has gone up 9k in MSRP over the last 2 years for the same features. Even the Chevys have gone up almost 6k in the last 2 years

Hard to define "best quality" anymore. Sometimes a single sub-par component, eng/tranny/telematics, give a single generation a bad name and lower the overall quality numbers accordingly. We think Toyota but for years they were replacing frames on Tacos as one example. I truly do not think it matters because any brand/model can really have a bad run.

I think toyota’s are good vehicle’s but they aren’t the be all and end all. Insurance is more, parts/service are more and they have made some mis steps in new engine choices and design. Turbos and forced induction don’t equal longevity. All this new tech is a question mark and so is dependability. Im not sold toyota. Your mpg don’t rival NA V8’s or V6’s.

If China invades Taiwan which they seem to be on the verge of doing prices could double from where there at now. Might not even be able to get a new one.
