  • Let's be honest...
Why would a book of guidance for all humans, until the end of time, remind us to wash our bodies after going to the toilet?
What does Quran 5:6 really say?

When I went to a Christian church, I think what made me lose faith was the lack of knowledgeable answers to the questions I had as a third grader trying to understand God and the Bible. Years passed, and I went from Christian, to atheist, to being really into demonology/Keys of Solomon, and finally, I'm here, reading the Qur'an in some way, shape, or form every day and endlessly searching for videos such as this to answer the questions that come about from reading and critically analyzing what is being said. Thank you for what you do!

@@7346908 I think the important point is to connect with God. I comprehend shukur and salat as about seeking connection. Allah doesn't need our thanks, we need connection with Allah.
However, I still follow the ritual salat as a means of connecting with Allah (SWT), seeking "iyyaka nabudu wa iyyaka nastain" and "siratul mustaqim" (self correcting methodology).....learnt some interpretation from other channel. Also trying to avoid saying certain expressions as I learn their deeper meaning.....but the intention is reconnection.
Of course, no more masjid khutbas.....could easily spend a lot if time here and study the Standard translation to identify, reflect and ponder upon some of the concealed ayats.
I am glad I am able to seek knowledge from such channels and comments section. And I am glad to see such channels sprout from every corner of this Earth.

I was in desperate search to translate the knowledgeable and thoughtful videos into English language so that the true message of Quran reaches the entire world and here I have found your channel by chance while browsing RUclips and alhamdulillah I thank Allah for his blessings in the form of you brother Musa, maasha Allah. I would also be grateful if there is a Urdu channel from your or any other brother explaining all your videos in urdu so that only urdu speaking people can too benefit from this Truth and Enlightenment of Quran. I feel pain seeing the human massacre going on now between jews and traditional Muslims in Israel and Palestine and all places where this hatred is spreading, and I hope when the Quran Al Fajr or The Sunrise of Enlightenment treats the diseased hearts of people with the medicine of Truth of love of Allah, then all bloodshed will immediately stop. May that Sunrise come soon.

Salam brother Moses, your translation is certainly potent, though there are parts I'm still not totally clear on. What's sticking to my mind especially atm (as I've been working on these verses alongside the video), is specifically the difference between "aydīkum" and "aydiyakum". My understanding was that one is in the genitive and the other is in the accusative, and that this explains their different form. Are you suggesting these are just different words? Aren't all grammatical cases ( listed separately in the muṣḥaf?

According to the 'rules' of Arabic grammar: what would you expect ayadihim to look like in 24:24?

I've heard this came a few times now, but not the evidence. 3:16 could be speaking of the general beautification, though I would agree, that interpretation is questionable. But there are so many other verses where the meaning is less clear. *That being said, if you published an English translation of the Quran, I would certainly take a look at your tafsir. I would be happy to help you produce this "non-traditional" translation, to present for critical engagement (peer review). It could be useful.

How would you interpret the numerous verses telling us to obey the Messenger and to take his judgement as final, and that he is the best example for us and that if we want Allah to love us then we should follow him - and that Allah would raise his name for remembrance.
Muhammad ﷺ has been classed as the most influential and most chronicled and most successful man in history. But it seems like if you reject the tradition - then he wasn’t very successful at all and Allah has not raised his name and remembrance.
And now Dr Hany is saying all the ‘allazeena aamanu’ verses are for the Jews and earlier communities only and not for us.
It’s all very confusing - And I pray Allah leads me to the truth wherever it is

Another powerful reflection. I have a feeling you're going to come to similar conclusions about bowing and prostrating (if you get to it), based kn the direction you're moving. Have you considered though, the possibility that there are both literal and figurative meanings in some of these verses? Sometimes it appears to me that even if the physical washing isn't ritual, it was in preparation for an event that required a minimum hygiene. It doesn't have tonbe a reflection of intelligence as much as of living conditions in the time and place, hence many had understood, and still understood it the practice as primarily hygienic, even though I would agree that it is not (primarily). But perhaps even then it is meant to symbolize the physical act so that it becomes a kind of remembrance in itself, everytime one partakes in such acts, binding the physical to the "deeper" spiritual reality of the Most-High. This is perhaps too dense a convo for the medium, but again, there must have been some muslim in the past who had come across this, or from the early period, someone to comment on the induction of "ritual purity" in the System. Perhaps there were two corresponding understandings, and for whatever reason, one was lost to the political turmoil.

    • @inhumanhyena
      @inhumanhyena Год назад +1

@@AlMosesPhD I actually did go back to the beginning of the playlist. I'm currently up to your video on Durood. I'm still having trouble understanding how your interpretation of "wudduu" (5:6) isn't esoteric. The phrasing is very unusual if we are to replace the literal words "face", "feet" ect with the synonymous meanings you are arguing in favor of. I can understand how in *wipping ones face, one could purify their focus figuratively, buy the rest of the verse seems even more confusing if we substitute the body parts for their alternative meanings. These verses were directed at the plural "you" if I'm not mistaken. Are we being directed to "wipe the movers to elevation" and "wipe the leaders"? Purifying the focus is easy to understand but then also the supporters until the dependable companions? Is it purify them until they are dependable companions? What exactly does that entail? I'm only partially getting it.
My initial assumptions regarding the "traditionalist" ritualistic understanding was that this ritual must be some kind of psychological prompting. Then, when I came to realize the Salary refers to more in the Quran, I figured in some context it was a kind of meeting between the prophet and the believers with a minimum hygiene requirement. Then I figured, well if it was a ritual, the parts of the body washed might have been touching the floor. I realized there weren't any classical sources where the ritualized reading had ever been challenged. Or none that I know of (please share if you have any). So I figured there may have been two concurrent practices, one involving the study and application of Qur'an in society, and the other, perhaps fabricated practice of ritual observance practiced by the masses and spread primarily by Islamic institutions. Now if there was not, we should be able to find at least one Muslims thinker who criticized the shift, or do you believe those who were true adherents were too small in number to produce opposition? Or is it some kind of mass conspiracy of erasing opposition (despite the fact that we are opposition and disagreement with what was established in Muslim tradition even from those countering the arguments from back then)?
To be clear, I'm sympathetic to your position but I see issues with it (obviously), and there are still parts that aren't coming together gor me. I've seen Quran-centric muslims rationalize that "salat" could be prayer, without any specified "form". I think it's more likely not prayer, even if prayer could be an expressions of al-Salat. The lack of first century AH references to a non-ritual understanding makes it hard to establish a strictly non-ritual interpretation, which is why I tend toward a more esoteric take.

Stay objective, you cannot start by judging without proof that the ritual are there to teach people « basic cleaning »(unless you just try to mock it) ofc there is a non material aspect of all of the terms since these are concepts they don’t need to have exclusively a material aspect or exclusively a symbolic/spiritual aspect especially in the quranic language in which there is both explicit and implicit aspect merging for the same message. So your good reminder of these aspect (like wajh meaning also the being) is very important but it doesn’t exclude the physical manifestation of it unless you clearly prove it.

I pray Allah grants guidance to all those who sincerely seek His guidance.
To Al Moses and anyone who ignorantly agrees with what is being said in this video and others like it from other individuals who completely try and change Allah’s religion which He has completed/perfected during the time of our Prophet Muhammad, (peace be upon him)
I ask, do you not believe that our prophet who received revelation i.e. The Quran, acted on what he received?
Do you not believe he made wudu, and fundamentally prayed as we pray today?
Or do you believe that he didn’t make wudu and he didn’t pray?
I implore you to, have reverence for Allah! Have reverence for Allah! Have reverence for Allah!
Do you believe in Allah? I assume that you do.
If you say yes, yes you do believe in Allah, who is All Seeing, All Hearing, and All Knowing. If you say yes, you do believe in Allah who has created us to worship Him as He mentions in the Quran. If you say yes, you do believe in Allah and you understand fully what that means, then do you really believe that Allah, would allow billions of Muslims who strive and have striven to worship Him, which is our purpose for being created, to be wrong for over a thousand years on such fundamental things which are integral to worship, like wudu and prayer?
Do you believe Allah, would allow something so fundamental to be misunderstood by billions for centuries?
Do you believe no one would know how to fundamentally worship Allah until you came along over a thousand years later?
Do you believe that our Prophet did his job?
If you do believe that he did exactly what he was commanded to do, and if you are a rational individual, you would understand that what he did was witnessed by thousands of people who were around him at the time, and they followed him in that.
EVEN WITHOUT HADITH, some things, especially those fundamental things which are mentioned explicitly in the Quran, like prayer and wudu, even though you try with some verbal gymnastics, to reinterpret what is literally being said, something so fundamental like wudu and prayer would be passed down from generation to generation, as it has been.
In short, people saw the Prophet, who received revelation and understood it best, do a thing and they did it, people saw those people who saw the prophet do a thing, like make wudu and pray, and they did it, and it naturally would continue like this from generation to generation, EVEN WITHOUT HADITH.
I’m not sure what your aim is with the videos you post, but I implore you, if you really believe in Allah, desist from making a mockery of His religion, His Prophet, and His Book, by posting videos which completely contradict what ALLAH HAS ESTABLISHED within His religion and the community of believers, because you will be questioned on That Day.

Salam, you sound sincere so am making an effort to respond.
First, you should notice that you’re appealing to emotion and precedent only. Not "once" have you mentioned an ayah of the Quran or critiqued any of the Quranic terms mentioned.
If you wish to unlearn the cultural religion and learn the deen of Islam = risala of Rasul Muhammad and other messengers, a few pointers for you:
      - We are not made to ‘worship’ Allah. Ibadah doesn’t mean worship (video in Urdu on the channel)
      - Appeal to majority / past generations is rejected outright by the Quran (vid in English on the channel)
      - Just because a practise becomes associated with a Quranic term does not mean it’s sanctioned by Allah (did you know that terms like tasbih, salat, zakah, qatal, jihad, muslim, jibal, samaa, al-kitab are different in Quran vs fiqhi / cultural Arabic / religion islam)
I do not argue brother, especially when there is no Quran being presented for weight.
You can stay where you are, or continue to unlearn to learn.

@@AlMosesPhD I appreciate your reply. First, If you read the message I posted for you and anyone else who reads it, I am not appealing to emotion, I am appealing to one’s intellect.
I am asking you and anyone reading to think deeply about what you are saying in your videos, and what is implied either intentionally or unintentionally.
What you are saying without saying it, is that our Prophet did not understand the revelation he received and or you understand it better than he. And what you are saying, without saying it, is that Allah has sent down a book, i.e. The Quran, that is not clear, in fact you are implying that it is so unclear that billions of muslims over thousands of years have got very fundamental and basic things all wrong, until you came along.
This makes no rational sense. So again, I am not appealing to emotion, I’m appealing to intellect. And I hope you and anyone reading will think deeply, about what has been said.
Regarding mentioning ayah from the Quran, I alluded to a few. For example, Allah has completed the religion Surah 5 Verse 3, and the prophet is our best example to follow, Surah 33 Verse 21, and we were created to worship Allah, Surah 51 verse 56, for example. And I intentionally didn’t mention the verses specifically, because, one, that was not the point of my post, and two, from the videos I’ve watched of yours it’s clear you’re not interested in the apparent meanings of the arabic words in the Quran.
Case and point, you say ibadah, doesn’t mean worship. Either you do not know arabic, or you are being dishonest to say such a thing, in order to prove some point.
Are you really saying that worship can not be implied in any shape form or fashion by the Arabic word ibadah?
If that’s what you’re saying, then centuries of Arabs, and every arabic dictionary would disagree with you.
The same with Ghasl to ‘wash’ or wajh for ‘face’. Are you saying that these apparent meanings in English can’t be implied in any shape form or fashion by their respective arabic translations?
Again, if that’s what you’re saying, then centuries of Arabs, and every arabic dictionary would disagree with you.
If that’s not what you’re saying, and you admit that the apparent English translations of those words can be implied, then why try and confuse the people by saying that’s not what they mean. That’s being dishonest. Be truthful and say they can mean exactly what is apparent, but you choose to interpret them by some of their other meanings. To say they don’t mean what is apparent at all is dishonest.
Allah has made His book clear. I’m sure you can find the many ayat which support that statement.
I also did not make these post to argue, I simply wanted to caution you and anyone else who may be misled by YOUR interpretation of Allah’s book.
You can take heed or not. Our affair is with our Lord.
I pray Allah grants guidance to those who sincerely seek His guidance.

I was born into Islam but I'm a very very rational person. On top of all tHe hardships in life I had to deal with a God which cares when did I go to the toilet and did I entered with right, or left foot and did I use my right or left hand to wash myself.
Eventually I concluded this is a joke religion which only cares about toilets, sex and impurities which have to be washed away in a procedural way.
I declared my family that I denounce this religion as fake but that I'll maintain faith in God only and nothing else.
I want to thank you for opening a new Islam to me, one of miracles, equality and focus, not one focused on toilets, sex, misogyny and whether to use right or left hand.
May God almighty reward you for your work, for you are the answer to all my anxiety with Islam which I had already abandoned.
I certainly can't become Christian nor Jewish for they betrayed Issa Al Masih, and other religions were simply out of the question because in my heart I know there's only one God.
I thought either Unitarian Christian or be agnostic as I am, but you opened my eyes to something new. Which I have contemplating myself, though I had to learn Arabic. Which now I will.
    Thank you. Thank you.
    Greetings from Europe!

Brother - How do you reconcile the verse 6 surah 5 - Al - Maida with No WUDU that you claimed.
O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it. Allah does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful. (6) And remember the favor of Allah upon you and His covenant with which He bound you when you said, "We hear and we obey"; and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of that within the breasts

There’s a lot of stuff made up here. Wajh can mean direction, meaning face yet in some contexts like “turn your face towards” it indicates direction. Yet when it’s within the context of wash and other orders to wash or wipe corporal limbs it is more than stretching the imagination to divert the dhahir of the word wajh. This is a very strong distortion of the Quran Text.

Salam… I think you are following your own desires. You keep appealing to us that why would Allah tell us how to wash and say why do you think He would do that? Quran is not a bathroom book. I believe this is a dramatic condemnation of Quran. You can’t assume to know the mind of Allah, the words of Allah reveal that. It is simply saying wash before prayer. You seem to believe a lot of things in Quran are symbolic, so why wouldn’t you look at the washing as symbolic instead of totally retranslating an entire text no translator agrees with you on? You seem to be making a new religion for yourself not based in Quran alone. Why not look at the water as purifying your face and hands which Quran mentions will testify against us on judgment day? There are also two verses on washing before salat in Quran. I am not sure why you have a problem washing before prayer.

No brother, the cleaning of FACE, HANDS, HEAD and FOOT are the RITUALS before THE QURAN is recited upon you (THE RITUAL SOLAT). No matter if you are alone or in a congegration, after Surah AlFatihah, THE QURAN will be recited, hence YOUR PHYSICAL CLEANLINESS is a must and GOD is giving you a specific instruction (spiritual - cause you can only carry out the instruction AFTER you understood it) for you to carry out BEFORE you stand and do the RITUAL. It is very specific, if you just came from a toilet, DO THAT. it does not mean you LEAVE the toilet and only wash face, hand, head and feet leaving the feces not washed. LIKE YOU SAID, only stupid people do that. in Q10:100, God place THE FILTH upon those who do not think (STUPID PEOPLE).
No one said it is for TOILET TRAINING.. it is the SHAITAN who throw it in your head. NO BODY have said that. But, you are on the right path, keep thinking.
You have to look at the ayah about SOLAT. Not just in Q5:6. Its starts with Q2:125, then it is Q4:43 and Q4:142, then Q5:6, then Q11:114, then after that Q17:78 and lastly the LAST five ayah in surah AL-Isra. Q17:111 (The Recitation before TAKBIR), Q17:110 (The Calling of Ar-Rahman (Al-Fatihah) and Recite Al-Quran must be audible), Q17:109 - The Rukuk (not mentioned sajda), Q17:108 (The iktidal - what you say in between rukuk and sujud), and lastly the Q17:107 (THE SUJUD).
It is clear that DO NOT BE TOO LOUD nor SILENT, but find a way in between (Q17:109). Dont shout or dont be silent. What does it mean?, you can refer back to the Q2:125 taking the imam in makkah (whoever is the IMAM in makkah is standing on the MAQAM of IBraheem, so TAKE from the the ritual solat / musolla). What they are doing, only TWO RAKAAT is audible. It is in FAJR, MAGRIB and ISYA. this confirms the TIMING in the QURAN. Two ends of a day (FAJAR ad MAGHRIB) and near part from the LAIL (ISYA). so there is no ZUHR prayer and ASR. but if they want to do it, DO NOTSTOP THEM. ONLY GOD can CLARIFY it TO THEM. so ALL the SOLAT that is being done today, is only TWO RAKAAT (audible). whether it is Jummah, Eid, or TARAWEEH. ALL in two rakaah. and to confirm, it is said that THE SEVEN oft repeated - AlFatihah (Twice) and The Quran were given to US.
All these are RITUAL. IF YOU DONT DO IT.. to me its not a BIG PROBLEM. BUT THE SPIRITUAL one YOU HAVE TO DO. IT IS the COMMANDMENT that is the MOST IMPORTANT solat. What is it? It is stated clearly in Q2:21 and Q2:22. The first and second commandments. 1.SERVE YOUR LORD, and 2.DO NOT MAKE ANY COMPEERS for GOD. How to implement this? DO the RITUAL SOLAT first. read and use your aqal. HE WILL LAY for you YOUR FOUNDATION. NO ONE ELSE CAN. He laid the FOUNDATION for IBRAHEEM, and HE LAID the FOUNDATION for AHMAD. Muhammad is not EXCEPT a Messenger.
