  • Zoloft (aka Sertraline) is an SSRI (Selective Serotonin Re-Uptake Inhibitor) well known for helping curb anxiety. I was on Zoloft for roughly 2 years before successfully coming off of the medication. I shared my experience previously in "Why I love Zoloft" and now I am here to answer more frequently asked questions about weight gain side effects, sex life side effects, and other physical side effects. I hope this can provide some light on your experience. Let's learn, grow and evolve together. ❤️

Interesting how SSRI's work differently for different people. I know people like yourself who said Zoloft helped a lot. It didn't for me. Lexapro was the one for me. Very little side effects. I am currently weaning off. I was at 20, now I'm at 10. eventually want to be at 5 then off. I will say it was a life saver, it helped me. I was SO afraid to start. Thought I was going to die, 6-8 weeks later I was grateful I tried it. I used to bash SSRI's. Now I see them much differently! I am with you, I also don't want to be dependent on it forever.

I got on Sertraline due to work burnout/nervous breakdown as well as constant rumination, excessive guilt, overwhelm, procrastination, avoidance, brain fog etc. It definitely helped. It doesn’t make you happy, but after a while you notice your symptoms have lessened significantly. I was able to focus on getting a different job, which was a God send. I started being more productive. I was able to be more present with my kids and wife. Rumination was curbed significantly and doesn’t cut as deep. Surprisingly I’ve had little to no desire to drink alcohol. Side effects are headache, dry mouth, trouble climaxing, lower libido. I’m thinking about trying to come off because my sleep has been terrible recently but feel I should find a psychiatrist as opposed to just relying on my GP.

      Great questions!
As far as eating goes, everyone’s body is different so you have to feel what works for you. I eat a lot of fruit in the morning with a piece of toast and avocado and then a light lunch and a medium size dinner.
I don’t eat until after I practice my yoga & meditation.
I didn’t have sleeping problems too much while I was on medication but other times when I have had challenges with sleeping I would make sure that I’m finished eating three hours before bed, having absolutely no phone or screen time up to an hour before bed and doing some stretching, journaling or deep breathing.
I hope this is informative for you. 🙏🏽

You most definitely can bring these experiences back to your life perhaps on this low dose or once you have come off again. It's been found that emotions are a bit suppressed when on Zoloft and I found this with myself also, so you are not alone. It's of course important to share these things with your doctor and find solutions.
Take this time to start healing through the reasons you went on Zoloft and as you heal there much of the rest of your life will begin to blossom as well. Its a uncomfortable road but one worth walking for sure.

New here, instant sub! Thank you for talking about your experience, esp on the other side. That and with your comments below, you answered a bunch of questions I had.
I was on 50 mg the first month. If I were to guess, I have more depression than anxiety. Because I def felt less anxious, almost apathetic, about things. But I still struggle with motivation. The second month I was prescribed 100mg, and the first week I just slept alll the time, so I decided to break them in half and try 50 again and just ride it out.. To give it time and I'm glad I did. I'm almost to month 3, still hoping motivation comes creeping back any day now,I'm still struggling.
I did extensive research before, and found that DLPA really helps! (DL-phenylalanine). I've taken it in the past, it helps with energy and mood, it's amino acid for dopamine etc levels in your brain, a natural supplement, and it worked miracles for me before but I've been broke lately, so I haven't had it for awhile. It's helped sooo much, and others I've told about it! (research it) I'm going to try to get some soon and that's what I'm still struggling with. Motivation and mood elevation. But anxiety is gone!
I def don't want to take zoloft for very long.. But I'll give it a few more months to see if it kicks in, and then I'll wean off.
Thank you again ❤️‍🔥sorry for the long comment, going to watch more of your videos 🤟🏽

Me personally I’m not against them but I wish I wasn’t on them so young and for so long . I felt less anxiety but on autopilot and can’t rember all of my teens exactly . It’s good but it has massive cost . The question is it worth it ? We don’t know how much it alters the brain over years (a year within four months off them weened you’ll be back to normal ) . Is numbness t solution ? But maybe it effects your kid different . For me this drug is a robot human maker . Like that show iRobot . I do think kids should wait til at least 16 .
