    My dad worked here for most of his life. He loved this plant and the people he worked with. He passed away in 2017 and for some reason watching this just made me sob uncontrollably. Maybe because seeing it reminded me of him and now that it’s gone, it’s reminding me that he’s also really gone.

      I’m sorry for your loss, I hope it at least brought back many good memories of him.

    Awesome video! Time moves forward and the world changes with progress but my father having worked there for 30 + years and it being a local landmark this is still somewhat sad to see.

      My grandfather worked there for most of his career. I know he hated that they ran it into the ground.

    I'm always amazed at how much dust one of these implosions creates.

    Ok I wonder about all the asbestos in the plant Was that blowen up into the air?

    • @timslager5966
      @timslager5966 4 года назад +3

      There was probably an asbestos removal program done as well as removal of oils and hazardous materials.

    • @johnmcn1975
      @johnmcn1975 4 года назад +2

      Specialty workers removed all of the asbestos and other harmful materials long before the plant was imploded so they wouldn't contaminate the surrounding area.

    What a shame. Just making room for another plywood strip mall or boring looking office building.

    Largest my butt. State lines 4 unit on lake Michigan, the primary fireboxes alone, at 185 feet, are bigger than this facility. Combined 740,000 HP. One of the turbines now resides at the Smithsonian.
