My dad worked here for most of his life. He loved this plant and the people he worked with. He passed away in 2017 and for some reason watching this just made me sob uncontrollably. Maybe because seeing it reminded me of him and now that it’s gone, it’s reminding me that he’s also really gone.
Awesome video! Time moves forward and the world changes with progress but my father having worked there for 30 + years and it being a local landmark this is still somewhat sad to see.
Specialty workers removed all of the asbestos and other harmful materials long before the plant was imploded so they wouldn't contaminate the surrounding area.
Largest my butt. State lines 4 unit on lake Michigan, the primary fireboxes alone, at 185 feet, are bigger than this facility. Combined 740,000 HP. One of the turbines now resides at the Smithsonian.

I’m sorry for your loss, I hope it at least brought back many good memories of him.
This is a brilliant video. Appreciate the novel establishing shots backed up by superb score. Your other work is equally great. Thank you!

My grandfather worked there for most of his career. I know he hated that they ran it into the ground.
I'm always amazed at how much dust one of these implosions creates.
Coal is super dirty too
Look at my tr Trump 20/20 blimp flying high over Nue ll a redo Mexico.
Amazing work, really liked the history part on this one 👏🏽
I worked up there in early 90s repairing link belt car flipper!
Incredible footage!
Did you happen to film the implosion of 10/16/2020?
Yes! Here now!

That’s what 65 years of coal dust.
Toured that plant in 1985.
Ok I wonder about all the asbestos in the plant Was that blowen up into the air?
There was probably an asbestos removal program done as well as removal of oils and hazardous materials.

Excellent. ♡ T.E.N.
What a shame. Just making room for another plywood strip mall or boring looking office building.

Quite unimpressive, thank you very little.
