What wonderful insights here by David…simple age old advice and what a simple person he is, so modest and giving, I am gonna implement his advice on notes and consistency of efforts…thanks Kristina for doing what you are doing.

Hello Susie 👋 that's nice to hear. Notes has a lot of potential.
I call it the Twitter for Writers because it's primarily writers talking to writers but of course there are also a lot of readers. And every writer is also a reader.
For me writing a newsletter on Substack and using Notes goes hand in hand because you can share your newsletter there, highlight quotes, share sentences and also share the work of others with a note.
It's all about networking. Notes network effects are tremendous. Talk soon and thanks so so much for engaging ❤️ Kristina

Thanks so much. I had 2 questions from this: 1). can you start with notes before launching a newsletter? 2). Is Substack worth it financially for people writing health and diet newsletters?

I wonder what are the hacks coz I've been on substack for 8 months barely get past 100 subscribers with 1200 followers while a newcomer who's been around for 2 months and already at 300 plus subs

David is talking about this very specifically in the middle of our interview. You can check the table of contents and then click in the timestamp to watch the part that interests you. There's no magic formula. I think short and sweet is nice. Personality and authenticity rule. Plus, engagement as on any platform. I'd send 2-5 Notes per day especially if I published a story. This way you can promote your writing. Of course there's more to it but it's more of an art than a science. In May inside my community we'll celebrate inside the Notes Club and test some things.
My next video is with Walter Rhein. He also uses Notes for growth and gained 1000 subs this way.
You have to keep in mind that both Walter and David aren't overnight successes. They both worked hard to be where there are now. Both are full time writers. Wrote books, have their own companies etc. hope this helps. Thanks so much for your thoughtful comment and question. Talk soon, Kristina

@_KristinaGod Appreciate your response so much. I'm about half way through this episode of yours. I hope I don't sound aggressive. I do feel quite frustrated when I spent days to work on the content, pay for my own travels, pay for my equipment and then nothing. Just more money out then anything coming in lol. I even had to hire a writer so I could do my travels, capture pictures, videos then put it into a manuscript for my writing partner. Doing all of that on my own was so exhausting. And to see someone new surpass me by so much was heartbreaking. And it's not like 1 or 2 it's a bunch of new writers. Sorry I didn't mean to be bitter....
