This is why Anakin was the verifiable Chose One. He never fully achieved his understanding of the Jedi way, yet could never rise to his full and utter potential as a Sith Lord. However, he was able to singlehandedly obliterate both orders in one lifetime.
I'm still awfully saddened that Anakin Skywalker never surpassed Yoda as the wisest and most powerful Jedi ever. Could you imagine the feats he'd have accomplished let alone the heights he'd have reached? I suppose Luke (Legends version) is the closest we'll get to a possible wise and more noble Anakin.

Anakin Skywalker became so powerful in the Dark Side because he channeled his intense hatred of sand through the Force.
Anakin was such a disaster as person he was their savior, the most powerful thing in existence. Yet his mind was so fragile that's is why palpy was able to play him like a violin, and take him to the darkside so easily. I blame The Jedi for vader's makings not so much Anakin or even palpatine. Had the Jedi trained ani better, he would have been able to see through sidious manipulations. But nope, "yo let's going to let the most powerful force sensitive hate our guts, instead of guide him and teach him how to control his anger. Instead of teaching him about the nature of the darkside let's going to let him be a clean slate easy for anyone to manipulate".
They did try, he was always disobeying them and talking out of term.
Just imagine if Vader had gotten cloned limbs and lungs for himself.

We actually don't know what the affects of cloned limbs would be on an existing body. Would it null their ability to use the Force?
As for why it didn't happen, you can thank good old Palpy for that. I'm sure he specifically made instructions to cloners that Vader couldn't get new flesh limbs. That way he could never become as powerful as Palpy with his robotic body.
I believe its rumored that cloned limbs would not accept the midi-chlorians. Though as we know from the Dark Empire graphic novel, Palpatine had multiple clones of himself. So I'd say it was mostly Palpatine not allowing it. I mean even if you couldn't get cloned limbs, could you imagine if he could have got better cybernectics, clone his lungs so he could breathe without the suit, etc. As for other weaknesses of the suit, the book Dark Lord: Rise of Darth Vader explains it pretty well. The legs were longer than his original legs and angled slightly forward. The metal limbs were made from poor durasteel, the shoulder armor was too big and cumbersome(though he would adapt to that and put on more muscle mass). The helmet while giving him lots of info also encumbered his vision. Its a really good book and it shows how good Anakin/Vader was at adapting as it doesn't take him too long to start being able to fight better than most Jedi with all those problems.
Honestly it's because they didn't think of it. To try and find a logical explanation in universe, aside from maybe Palpatine, would be pointless.

I dont believe that loosing his parts of body did hinder his Force potential, his fears and doubts did stop him to reach full potential. All Skywalkers did had a big heart and strong emotions. This is the legends explanation, in the new canon it is clarified that Vader's connection to the force grew stronger because of Mustafar, not weaker.

Sidious wanted a leash on vader because he knew vader would one day be 10 times stronger in the force and ability wise than sidious would ever be. Vader is a child of the force, after-all.So Sidious sent Vader to Mustufar in full knowledge of what would happen. The suit is purposefully weak to electricity and the sidious' preferred method of punishment was force lightning. Palpatine very rarely made a mistake and most things were orchestrated by him behind the scenes. He then told Vader once he was in the suit that vader killed padme - so with the psychological damage combined with the suit the emperor could use to maim vader easily. Quite a brilliant tactic.
Sidious didn't send anakin to be defeated. Anakin being defeated by obiwan wasn't suppose to happen. This was one of the few moments where the rule of two was put on its head and sidious actually wanted Vader to become the most powerful with lord in all of history, but because he lost to obiwan, must of his body being destroyed (thus a great deal of his ability to utilize the force being destroyed as well) sidious gave up on Vader being the greatest with lord, only reason he kept him around at that point was to be a lap dog, though as punishment for ruining sidious plans for him, sidious gave anakin a really bad model of the suit he wears that's constrictive and uncomfortable. It was punishment for losing and never being able to live up to his destiny.

anthony ward Not in the movies, but it's been stated that Vader actually did lose much of his living force potential when he became more machine than man. Though Yoda was even smaller, Yoda was nevertheless a complete individual, which Vader was no longer.

Actually Sidious said it was still possible for Vader to reach his full potential. He said that Vaders psychological torment and anguish is what kept him from becoming more powerful than Sidious.

His mental setback for achieving his full potential was also a weakness for his son Luke in empire strikes back. Luke did not have faith in his abilities for lifting his X-Wing and only saw things in the natural realm. If Vader had set his mind to it then it's possible he could be as powerful if not more than Palpatine. He was offered the opportunity to have a more powerful suit but he was too depressed to try and thought he deserved the pain after harming Padme. His mentality was his setback.

Yes, Maul actually lasted pretty long against Sidious in a duel. Also as already stated by someone before, Sidious sensed Maul becoming a rival for him and set about quickly to stop him from gaining too much power.

Kinds makes you wonder. If Vader's weakened power with the force is mostly all in his head. Granted he is weaker in the force but even as vader he still had above average midiclorians than a normal person. Just makes you wonder what a perfect anakin/vader would be like one who isnt held back by his fears and chooses
on 0:58, in the dual between Yoda and Darth Sidious in Episode 3, even Darth Sidious tells Yoda that Darth Vader would eventually grow more powerful then either of them, and seeing how Sidious was arguably the most powerful force user EVER, its a scary thought as to what Vader's potential could have been

If Grievous had Force abilities I think he would be as powerful if not more powerful then Vader.
I thought Vader could summon spheres of force lightning outside of his body thus avoid getting electrocuted or having his suit short out.

I had fun with the game though, back when I was a kid, but it's just for pure entertainment you know...I can't take the story seriously when a Jedi brings down a huge Star Destroyer from a Space down to Planet with his powers.
Actually, in the second novel of the force unleashed, starkiller admits that he can't beat vader in the duel because of vader's superiority, so he has to resort to other tactics to catch him of guard.

Vader has a chance in almost any duel with any force user in history because his hatred for himself above all else puts him in tune with the Dark Side on a deep level. His sheer willpower is on par with any force user since it's what drove him to overcome his physical injuries to develop a style in sync with his body armour: He was in tune with his body and force abilities much more as Darth Vader than he was with the talented but overconfident and arrogant Anakin Skywalker. In a fight he would be aware of his weaknesses and strengths and would use it against his opponents.

You’re wrong, Vader was not weakened by his emotions and psychological pain. Vader was hands down the most powerful with. His constant pain and suffering is what fueled his power. It’s similar to the hulk the angrier he gets the more powerful he became. With Vader the more pain and rage he felt the more powerful he became.

People always say how powerful anakin would have been if he hadnt lost on mustafar, but think about it, all his strength originats from his failure there and his pain due to his crippled body
Not according to Lucas. It definitely gave him a different perspective, but he was still a young adult at the time and he would have matured to realize he needed to take his training more seriously even if he didn't lose 75% of his natural body on Mustafar. He was forced to rebuild from the ground up after that ordeal especially because of the new suit and how it was made/designed by Palpatine to punish him for his failure.
If you read the novels, he has to redesign his whole dueling style because of the limited mobility of the suit/armor and basically learn how to even walk right again in his new body as well.
So, did it increase his willpower and will to survive and his ability to adapt? Hell yeah it did and he was stated as a better duelist in ROTJ than he was as Anakin in ROTS. Did losing 75% of his natural body sever a huge connection to the force in the process and limit his maximum potential? Hell yeah it did. How many robots or machines can you think of that are force sensitive?
Sith force lighting was a skill of corruption to upon the user force choke is to but not as much as Sith force lighting. like darth sidious used it like a drug his body always burned out?.
So that helped him in the long run to be bring into the light again by Luke ?.

Vader Re tooled himself to be better skilled then he was before he had his limbs chopped off. He was still pretty powerful.

Disguising one's true identity using the force. Darth Sidious masquerading as Chancellor Palpatine was a good and accurate example. Often times he stood face to face with numerous Jedi Masters without any of them suspecting him to be The Sith they were looking for.

I'm sure Palatine was relieved that Anakin was severely injured because if he wasn't Palatine would fear for his life that one day Anakin would turn on him (Eventually he did turn on him because his son Luke was able to reach him). But still Anakin would've been more powerful & stronger than Palatine.
the whole purpose of the sith taking on an apprentice was for the apprentice to become more powerful than the master and overthrow them. thats why Palpatine ended up being disappointed in Vader since he showed no signs of wanting to do this until he met Luke.

a tenth or 8/10?
8/10 or 80% as strong as Sidious. So, Sidious has him beat by only being 20% stronger totally in the force (which isn't that much more) However, Sidious because of no conflict about being in the darkside was fully versed in it and studied way more than vader, had access to much more dark side knowledge like sith sorcery, sith alchemy, ancient sith holocrons,which gave him knowledge of things like force drain and perfected and developed darkside powers unknown at the time like Force Storm and such. In this he was always several steps ahead of vader.
Vader was just raw power and could kill you w/o using advanced techniques of other sith sorcery. For instance it's stated in the novel shadows of the empire that vader could make your brain explode instantly if he wanted to. He would also train with 30 or so specially made battle droids at a time regularly, having them go all out and attacking him to try and kill him.
So Palpatine is more like a mage preferring using his mind powers or more complicated force powers and vader is more like a fighter in that aspect, using raw combat prowess and raw force ability while fighting you( like when he fought Luke on bespin and made heavy objects fly at Luke while he was dueling him at the same time. I haven't seen many force users able to do telekinesis like that, usually it's either lift or fight, not both at the same time. Even when palpatine fights yoda in the senate, he stops throwing the pods at him when they engage in the duel, he doesn't keep doing that as well.
