Because puberty literally changes a males voice unrecognizable when they hit a certain age. If you want to have continuity in a character you can’t be having their voice change overnight. Women don’t have this problem. Hence why we have women voice actors in little boy roles.

For all intensive purposes, this guy might, as fans were given the surprising announcement of his retirement as the voice only for the decision to be reverted, but he just might become the English counterpart for Junichi Kanemaru, regardless of the preference many have for the previous roles. 15 years is enough for a kid to develop a love for this franchise, many must have already grown up knowing Roger Craig Smith's Sonic voice for the longest time now.
I hope Roger Craig Smith gets replaced with Jason Griffith and Ryan Drummond in the future regarding his role as voicing Sonic and Sonic only. He can keep his roles and Omega and Commander Abraham Towers.

In context this was right after waking up from the others trying to prank him while he napped, by spraying whipped cream on his hand and tickling his nose to make him scratch his nose and get his face covered in whipped cream, they noticed one of Eggman’s spy drones and decided to keep things up by pranking Eggman with that dialogue when really Tails set it up so that Eggman got caught in his own trap
I love watching voice actors do their work. Really makes me appreciate their work more than just watching the show or playing the game.
