This game has consumed my life since it dropped on game pass. I don’t really understand why trpg lovers aren’t playing this game. Like you said I think what Metal slug tactics does differently is encourage an aggressive “run n gun” play style. Once you understand sync attacks and positioning and most importantly prioritizing the dark green squares and cover, the game is easy even on harder difficulties. I saw a review on steam that said this game is more like a complex puzzle game where you must manage your resources while achieving the mission objectives and I couldn’t agree more. Not to mention picking the correct upgrades and leaning into each characters abilities is crucial to victory. I really hate to say “git gud” to tactics fans but please give it another shot.
I died on my first run before reaching the first boss. After that I have beat every other run I have played. Unfortunately I don't think their is enough build diversity to make repeat runs interesting, some build are just way better than others.
Yea there for sure are certain builds that shine. I also learned the hard way all melee sucks against certain bosses because you can't get in melee often
@@saintwafflesmost of them are visual but there is a significant bug with the boss in soursop forest that sometimes when the floors transition, he becomes untargetable and the only way to fix it is to waste a turn reset
Big MS and TRPG fan so this was a dream come true. That said, I bought this on Steam day one and played it a couple of times. Not really feeling it. It's too strange and overly complicated. I can't tell if I'm doing damage to the enemies. Only three characters to a squad. It drained my patience really fast and is my biggest bummer of the year so far. I'm going to keep trying because I know there is something there that I'd be a fool to miss out on but you shouldn't have to TRY to like anything especially a game, it either hooks you or it doesn't. Hopefully this video helps me understand this game a little bit better.
Usually if you are doing a sync attack that should be enough damage to drop most normal enemies. My basic go to is to run the mad bomber up to an enemy. Shoot at them with food, mad bomber finishes them and gets extra movement, move them to someone else and have Marco fire, then move them and have the bomber attack. Usually gets 3 enemies and a ton of armor
I plan on making another one at some point showing a full like round of combat and explaining play by play my decisions and why, would that be helpful?
I hate tactics games but I love Metal Slug. This video has piqued my interest in the game a little bit more. Thanks!
