Wow, so many good ideas on this urban homestead. Those underground cooler rabbit burrows are brilliant! Great, safe, climate stable space for the mom's to give birth and raise their babies, yet easy access for the farmer from above. Also really love that greenhouse. We're interested in growing quite a few things that won't grow well naturally where we live; bananas, avocados, olives, citrus, ginger, galangal, lemon grass, turmeric, papaya, etc. In a long greenhouse of that style, we could set up an environment that will allow for those trees to survive winters here and produce food for us in the summers when we have good sunlight. Also love the small jersey cows for milk and meat. Pretty cool stuff!
Love the design and look, think the only thing that comes across my mind that I would add, is whirlybirds on top of the greenhouse to pull hot air out if needed.
I've been watching you both for so.e time now. Glad you were able to connect. Such a wealth of information! Didn't realize I hadn't subscribed but I am now.
Amazing!! I’m in Nevada and get extreme temps. Your video is inspiring. 3 questions for you: 😂 1. During the summer- do you drain your thermal mass, take it out?? 2. How many tubes did you dig 6’ down? 3. You said during the summer the hot air comes in and goes up and out…. What is your “up and out” setup?
Really awesome set up, id love a backyard like that once i finally escape California. Great videos also, first time stumbling across it and loved the content
We ended up staying at one of their neighbors- Chris Laytons tiny home that the Airbnb out and was mesmerized by their fairly similar setup. We ended up buying fresh honey and Asiago cheese from them, wonderful people and a wonderful stay. We love the Manti area
your channel had really underrated due to the contributions to the communities from the world that don't have the knowning of ecological consciousness.
So do you know how much cooler having the holes made the green house? How many and how far appart are the holes?how well does the normal plants do in green house. Do you grow enough fruits and vegetables for your family? What did you use to keep birds in and pollenator access? How much does the vents open? Do they open toward the top, bottom,or like a door and how far apart are they? I saw the nice roof do you collect rain water too? How are you watering the plants? What are you planning when those trees get too big for the greenhouse?
@mantihomestead - I hope it’s not just the non-native honeybees coming in to pollinate. I hope the native bees, who are much more effective pollinators, are able to make their way to your blossoms. I cringe when I hear honeybees getting all the credit for pollinating. Great video and lots of beautiful things in here.
How is it a money sink? After the initial investment it’s costing him nothing. And in the event that one is not able to access groceries, the food it does produce becomes pretty dang valuable
Right now I just have on a regular garden drip system. I am looking at some other options and will do a video on it once I figure it out. It’s working OK right now though.
How on earth are u able to pull this mini farm off what looks to be in they city or least neighborhood of kens & Karen's who complain about everything ?
This is a semi rural area. Awesome setup which city lovers would dream of. Downtown Salt Lake City has more front yard gardens than anywhere else in Utah.
The way people talk about living sentient beings is frightening. Its not self sufficient to be buying in feed. Destroying the Amazon to feed imprisoned animals, is a really bad thing. Also all the animals were walking around in mud . This is a hell hole, he should try veganic farming, he would have plenty of space for that.
Green house in the snow kits are similar but not close to this design. Lots of custom features like the passive earth tubes vs running earth tubes with a powered fan. Angle of the glass are altered, not a fixed pitch like a kit.
Watched twice & shared thrice so 2 thumbs up. Good job Nate, thanks Stef. 👍🏼👍🏼
Appreciate it John!
Thanks John! I love the support! Binds us all together in a common goal and for me-keeps me posting!
It was so awesome to have Stefano on theHomestead! Such an intelligent person, and such a great individual right to the core!
Fascinating! Great work, Nate!

Would love to help! I have a video about our vacation rental on the homestead. Would love to show you!

Thank you
This is awesome 👌 and one of my goals
Just awesome!!
Thanks! It’s only getting better as we learn a little bit more effective growing techniques inside :-)
So excited to find this… I have plans to use barrels like that along the back wall of my grow house.
It works amazingly well, I will be copying these designs when I build my greenhouse
Awesome, the rabbit nests are a genius idea. But why no chickens?
He has laying chickens, I didn’t film them
We have chickens for eggs, and rabbit for protein. I do like the idea of meat chickens, but wanted to diversify since rabbits are more efficient.

Great setup! Trailers for the sister wives? All hands on deck.
This is amazing!
Goldman finches from Australia 🇦🇺 nice!!
Very interesting
So Impressive I tip my hat to you guys
Nate did a great job with his build
It is a great setup. 👍
My favorite greenhouse set up so far
Great video
Thanks!
What do you do with the finches in the cold weather?
They have lived through two winters now inside the greenhouse.
As long as other people's land is necessary to support your food animals, your homestead is actualy considerably larger than one acre.
You got me:)
not a walipini, its the chinese greenhouse design with some air tubes to heat and cool.
It’s buried 4Ft into the ground, not a walapini?
BABY NUMBER 9…. Yikes!
Gigantic money sink with minimal food back on the table. Someone got bored during covid.
He had money to spend so nothing wrong with that, He gets better quality food for his family, Can't get much better than that

@@mantihomestead good to know. looking forward to your update!
I bet that property was a steall for that banker.
Way to “cousin Eddy” it on the orange.
I know lol, my thumbnail guy goes to heavy
Do they eat the rabbits humanely....?
Yup
The cow looks normandy
But spray form is toxic!

Mormons, and he's right by the Temple so no problems.

also he talks like he designed this. No. You can buy this in a kit if you want.

Can't daughter to pick up slugs for free? 😅 Capitalist America! Too capitalist
Lol
I found using less nitrogen fertilizer and I have fewer aphids. With better plant health and growth.
