This is exactly what someone new to espresso needs to give them an easy to understand reference for what would work for them.

Great thank you. Matow seem to only make V2 which have magnets now. Have you seen if the design of the interface area is the same just with magnets? Cheers

I also ordered the diamond-pattern one based on the photo because it didn't have the inner ridge and got the version with the inner ridge :/ Just ordered the taller black one (before I saw your video) since it looks like it's similar to the Decent one. I would have just gone for that one but I don't quite have that much cash lying around...

Yeah I think they might have sold a previous version without the ridge. But anyways, hopefully the one you got works out for you.

    hello,
I have a question, when we buying the coffee ring, there is writing size for example 51mm.. how we should choose the size? this 51mm is inside of portafilter? or how we should measure?

YES! It's in the works, took 2 months for the machine to finally start to act the way that I am used to and so I don't want to jump to any conclusions too early. But it's in the works. Thanks for staying tuned.

Really enjoyed this video and all the detail you included! I don't have the BDB but I do have 58mm portafilter and got the magnetic one you showed before seeing this video. As you stated the ridge is a bit annoying so I am adjusting my workflow back to using a distribution tool instead of WDT raking. We'll see how it goes... cheers!

The thing that bothered me more is the fact that it does not sit flat on the basket. But really glad that you found this to be helpful.

@@XICups Luckily it does fit nice and flat on my basket. While it does create a ridge on the coffee bed, just a spin of the distribution tool smoothes it out nice for an even tamp! Very happy with the new funnel and workflow! The other thing I love about the mag funnel is it holds in place nicely so I can grind straight into the portafilter from my Sette 270. Other funnels fall off or are not secure enough... Thanks 🙂

Good stuff. I've got the exact same setup as you in terms of Breville Dual Boiler, Niche grinder and dosing funnel :-)

Magnets on dosing funnels are superficial and don't add much value or benefits, if any at all. They were originally introduced on those low-profile (15mm and less) lightweight aluminium funnels to help keep them in place. I went over the years over 6-7 different funnels including Coffee Cacha, landed few years back on a conical 20mm Stainless steel one, sumilar to the one you show in your video. No magnets, the weight of steel keeps it down. BTW in the 3 of aluminium ones if mine that came with magnets - all, and I mean all had an issue of some of their magnets falling out of the bottom rim, over time.
