Mt. Everest Rural Life (2): I was fascinated in new year abundant feast & got drunk at 5320m.

  • Having lived in the city for a long time, I never dared to imagine that at the foot of Mount Everest , there would be such an abundant New Year feast and such a grand New Year blessing ceremony. I was fortunate to visit Basong Village at an altitude of 5320 meters where I spent New Year's Eve with the rural people there, lighting fireworks together to ward off evil. On the first day of the New Year, the hosts cooked beef and lamb, inviting relatives and friends to their home, offering a sumptuous feast. Everyone held a small knife in one hand, and with the other hand, savored chunks of lamb heads and beef. I was deeply moved by this lavish food, raising my wine glass uncontrollably, drinking glass after glass of barley wine, singing and dancing with the local villagers.
Another important New Year's event is when the entire village dresses up and goes to the temple to pray, erecting prayer flagpoles symbolizing new hopes under the sacred Mount Everest. Everyone sings and dances with joy to their heart's content.
I believe that every visitor to Tibet should visit the rural villages, especially those at the foot of Mount Everest, to truly experience the most pristine and beautiful aspects of Tibet."
If you want to experience this amazing rural life, or where ever you plan to visit Tibet, please contact me at jamyangtour@gmail.com, and I will be happy to guide you and introduce you to my beloved home town.

    About Me - Jamyang
I am Jamyang, and I have been working as a tour guide with Tibet Vista Tour for 15 years. In 2020, during the Covid-19 global pandemic, I lost my job of being a tour guide, with the support of the company, I immersed myself in filming videos and documenting the culture of Tibet. My goal is to share the beautiful landscapes of Tibet, Tibetan culture, and the genuine and enchanting lifestyle of the local Tibetans with people around the world who love and care about my beloved hometown Tibet. If you plan to visit Tibet, be sure to get in touch with me. I can show you the best and most authentic Tibet.

    Tibetan women are beautiful.
I've been watching Tibet since yesterday - dance, music, lifestyle. I told my hubby their Summer is about 20 degrees. We both laughed as 20 degrees in the Philippines means it is December - February (which is a blessing. Right now, April 7, 12:21 AM, it is 36 degrees C 😑)
    Hoping to visit Tibet someday.
