    Just binge watched this entire series. It's refreshing to hear someone talk so open and honestly about the creative process of making a feature length doc. As filmmakers of much smaller endeavors, we know there's a struggle mixed in with the passion of a project but we rarely hear that side of the equation. I watched the film a few months ago and absolutely loved it. Stunning visuals, great message, good music. Very well done. Congrats on all your success! Keep creating.

      Thanks. I'm glad you got some value out of it. Wanted to be fully transparent about the process to help those starting out on their next big project.

      So true about the honesty of the process. That's rare. Congratulations Matt!

    I am 53 years old, minimalist to my bones, living in this crazy world. Watching young guys like you discovering your "reality" and sharing it with the world is truly inspiring.

    I started watching all these videos of minimalism after watching the documentary on Netflix and DAMN... I just wanna re watch it and think about all this new content I've been watching here on RUclips. The idea behind minimalism is great, I'm starting to apply it to my life, and all the work you did with this is awesome! Congratulations to all the team, and specially to you Matt because I know how demanding and time consuming creative industries can be and, above all, how demanding you can be as a creative with yourself and the things you put out to the world. Quality content, after all, congrats!!

    Completely enjoyed watching all of the episodes of Making Minimalism. I had the documentary on Bit Torrent, but still bought the DVD because I wanted to share it. I am still on the journey of becoming my version of being a minimalist, but because of the documentary and now seeing "behind the scenes" of how it was made, I'm more determined than ever to complete this particular journey and live a completely intentional life. Thank you!

    Hey Matt
    Yesterday I watched the documentary and today I watched the whole making-of series. Awsome job! Great inspiration. We are a vanlife family of 3 and we downsized all our stuff to fit in the van and we are STILL finding things we don't use

    What a hard work behind the documentary! I saw it a year ago but after watching this videos I’m going to see it again. You are great guys, I appreciate a lot your work (the 3 of you).

    I'm a recent film graduate, beginning to try and figure out the balance between work and passion projects. One way this documentary and the series helped was to curb my camera lust. I have learning to do and skills that need to grow before I can even make worthwhile use of the cameras I'm lusting after. I can grow and make fulfilling work with what I have.

    Congratulations on a fantastic film... and I really enjoyed this making of series... thank you for sharing! I was so excited when I learned that you all were making this film and I couldn't wait to watch it. I purchased it and then have watched on Netflix too. It lived up to all expectations and I've watched it multiple times and will continue to as I need inspiration and "detox" from the barrage of consumerism (I'm writing this during the holiday season). You should be so proud of your work and the incredible message you are sharing... it is changing thinking and helping so many people. All the very best wishes to you... congratulations again to you and everyone involved. :)

    Keep up the good work, looking forward to what comes next.

    Such an amazing series and just the documentary itself its OMG! Its great Mr. D'Avella. It was a hard process, I kinda know a bit about that, I studied animation in College and now I'm a Graphic Designer so yeah I know a bit the process behind the pre, pro, and post production. So yeah man, keep doing what you're doing and keep flying high.

    It's crazy how whether rich or poor the idea of success is about our belongings and how the belongings create a false sense of status. I grew up poor and worked for success in items. I thought that's what success was and I was going through a journey of self discovery and realized that's not success and especially a way to be happy. My perspective of items and success are completely different and how I feel about myself. I am in a better journey of discovery and minimalism has helped on my quest.

    I have officially watched all of your videos, except for the podcast episodes. You mentioned that they are created more as videos (makes sense) than audio. I usually just listen to podcasts on my phone but I want to honor your craft, so I'll be watching them on here instead.
    Keep on keepin' on!

    Matt, can you share your lens lineup? Thanks!

    • @mattdavella
      @mattdavella  7 лет назад +2

      Hello! It's different depending on each shoot. I go over lenses a little bit in episode #1 of this series. I predominately use Canon 50 1.2 & Canon 70-200 2.8 for interviews. For run-and-gun I might use 24-105mm.

    • @glennsak
      @glennsak 7 лет назад

      Thanks, Matt! I appreciate it. How is the IS noise on the 24-105?

    • @mattdavella
      @mattdavella  7 лет назад +1

      I wouldn't use the lens in a low light situation. Though with the Sony a7sii the noise wouldn't be too bad.
