Your point about English fans expecting the players to push them I 100% agree with. The team I support Sheffield United has had too many times where there's more atmosphere in a morgue. A lot of the time there's just me and a couple of others chanting. No one else joining in makes it a terrible atmosphere. But when it gets going it's brilliant in there. Just wish we had the European way of supporting. I watch videos of the European fans with a bit of jealousy that it can't be likd that here.

It's just like you said that there's a cultural difference between German clubs and English clubs. English team's fanbases bounce off their players's performance. If the team isn't playing well then it reflects on the fans as well. There usually needs to be some moment to ignite the fans (for eg Xhaka vs Liverpool at Anfield). German fans on the other hand keep going on and on supporting their team throughout the game regardless of their team's performance which is very respectable. Also don't know whether the restrictions regarding pyros and stuff are more prevalent in England or not. Safe standing also makes a big difference imo since it has been very restricted in England ever since the Hillsborough disaster. Also, all big clubs have a shit ton of tourist fans attending alongside corporate seating which dulls the overall atmosphere a bit.

Sadly have to agree with Gladbach's ranking. I went last year to see the Rhineland Derby against Köln in April and the experience was surreal. On the one hand, the city lives and breathes football in a way few can match. Like everywhere you look, you see the team's colors and logo. On the other hand, that passion was nowhere to be found in the actual stadium itself, other than the ultras. Yes, it didn't help that they went down early against their arch rival, but there just wasn't any belief that they could mount a comeback.
More than the fans having gotten used to a degree of success, I think there was a sense among the fans that the team itself was unmotivated. Fans could accept a team losing, even badly, if they felt the players were giving it their all, but with Gladbach for whatever reason that feeling is no longer there. The club still regularly sells out home matches, though, so the fans clearly haven't given up hope just yet.

Still, having been to the Emirates Stadium before, I think we normally are at least better than them on this list. FIAGO LISTEN TO THIS RANT THAT NEEDS TO BE HEARD.
Some fans are naturally better. But in England, greed goes over fans. In Germany you have up to three stands with terracing. In England, we have “safe standing” and can get kicked out for standing up in the seated areas. In Germany, the best club in the league has a cheaper season ticket then some 4th tier clubs in England. I get we need money to make the english footy grow, but Germany proves, you can commercially grow whilst still having the fans in mind. We all know anfield used to be rocking, but the spion kop was replaced with an all seater stand. The prices are raised so only plastic tourists can go, leaving the die hard working class fans who usually make anfield rocking at home, watching on an illegal stream because it costs £80 a month to legally watch all football in the uk. The english fans don’t get a say in any decisions, but have to watch as greedy bastards ruin their club. Yes, some fans are better, but if it was kept a working class game, this list would be more genuine and fair. They’re even trying to Americanise english football with DJs and half time shows 🤢🤢🤢

Their goose bump inducing performance of that Nina Hagen song, the catchiness of their chants, the back and forth between the two standing sides of the stadium and just the absolute refusal to boo any of their players. @@DividedQueen Leipzig? Seriously? Anyone cheering for them has sold the soul to the devil and supports the cancer of German football. All Customers of a soft drink marketing department, bought and sold out by a fascistoid Austrian billionaire, with fabs having no say in the club or anything
else. (A shame, that Eastern Germans are fine with that and have not managed to appreciate democracy in 30 years and probably never will!)
They are probably the worst fanbase in the country bar Wolfsburg & Hoffenheim.
If you want to see passionate fans in Leipzig, you have to go to BSG Chemie or Lok (who have 100x the members!), but surely not RB.

Royal Antwerp FC also has some hardcore fans, if you watch an away game on television, you almost always hear the away-fans from Antwerp singing over the home fans, while they are losing 1-0…
