  • Compact SUVs are all the rage in the luxury market, and Mercedes-Benz led the way for many with its GLA-Class that's now in its second-generation. Since then every major luxury automotive player has come up with a 'GLA-contender' with varying success, growing the compact-luxury SUV space considerably.
But what they haven't done is stretched it out a bit, and added a couple of jump-seats in a third row. That's exactly what Mercedes-Benz has done with the new GLB-Class, and they've even donned the thing with unique styling that's more G-Wagen than GLA. With all that character and the promise of practicality, does the entry-level GLB200 have what it takes to carve a niche for itself and, more importantly, is this the beginning of a new trend in the compact-SUV space?

Mine is 2022 and it has the ambient lighting. Actually the performance is not too bad despite the small cc. But yes the NVH in my 12 yo bimmer are better (running with non-rft).

As mentioned in the review, luxury is about 'excess.' The 1.33L engine is 'enough,' and lacks grunt on the motorway. At this price point performance shouldn't have to be a consideration.

I agree with the host on the materials used for interior. They are clearly overcharging, 250000RM car with nasty scratchy plastics on the interior is ludicrous. Shame as this is probably the Merc that I'd buy because it has smart design and good practicality rather than just the badge.
