  • This is my very first project to do with Windows Movie Maker. I was so bored I thought I would make this video. This is just showing a comparison between the U.S. and Jap version of Cybernator. Hope y'all enjoy my piece of work. Oh and if somebody can translate the Jap ending that would be really cool. Just in case you didn't know, on the Stage 1 run I didn't shoot anything except the boss; don't shoot for any reason except for the boss and on Stage 2 you can get the Napalm Gun, a secret weapon I suppose.

Anyone who likes either version of this game, I heartily recommend Front Mission: Gun Hazard. Uses the same engine but puts into an 100+ hour action RPG. It was Japan-only but there's a very good translated rom out there

What about Metal Warriors? I heard it's significantly more difficult.

@@michaelsong5555 Metal Warriors is interesting but imo not quite as good. I like the gimmick of jumping out and commandeering other mecha (and at one point a ship) but the graphics and music just aren't as good.

@@athodyd What about gameplay? Is it any good, relative to Cybernator? I'm comparing to Cybernator and not Gun Hazard, because nothing can beat Gun Hazard.

Dunno if anyone else has mentioned this yet, but I also noticed that in the Japanese version there is no flame emmitting from the Assault Suit's back when doing a boosted jump. Also the boss doesn't flash white when hit, and the explosions when the bottom part of the boss falls off are a bit glitchier.

Posted screenshots of this to a forum on a Japanese learning website and got this in response.
“This is the outer space investigation/probe squad, please respond.”
Repeated with various gaps in the message like it’s got static and breaking up.

I have the fan translated version of this game and i enjoyed playing it to the end.
I know that this game is basically the prequel to Assault Suits Leynos: a game that was released for the Sega Genesis in the US under the name of "Target Earth", which i played during 1990 on a friend's Sega Genesis console and that a remake of Assault Suits Leynos came out in 2015 for the PS4.
But i am wondering if there is a way to apply an english translation patch to the ISO's of Assault Suits Valken 2 and Assault Suits Leynos 2, which only came out in Japan for the PS1 and the Sega Saturn respectively so that their stories can finally be understood.
So far, the only thing i know story wise about Assault Suits Valken 2 is that Jake: the protagonist of Assault Suits Valken appears in that game as a 30 year old soldier but as for the rest of the story, i am left in the dark.
As for Assault Suits Leynos 2, i know nothing when it comes to the story and i am completely left in the dark. Based on videos i have watched on RUclips, all i can speculate is that the protagonist and his squadmates could be fighting on the side of the Chron forces(the green enemy forces the player fought against in the original Assault Suits Leynos game), given the color that their assault suits have, but then again this is only speculation and i could be wrong.
So, could there be a way to translate the ISO images of both Assault Suits Leynos 2 and Assault Suits Valken 2 so that their stories can be enjoyed and the connections to the other games seen?.
Does anyone know if this can be done?.

yep hence the other reason why Poison in Final Fight was dubbed in personal background as a "she man" for U.S. standards. nes didnt like the idea of women getting beat up in games when that game came about in american consoles. But yeh suicide in that original cybernator version makes sense. i remember my jaw dropping when i saw what really happened in that import in an EGM mag in HS saying wow wtf?? lol

@MetroidSR388vr Okay, so how is that a butchered port? Because they took out a few plot elements? Removed the facial graphics? Because they took out the suicide scene? You have to remember, back then video games were still geared towards kids back in the SNES days. Nintendo was strict about that shit. Now, if the game suffered the Castlevania: Dracula X treatment, THAT would be a butchered port. As it stands, Cybernator is one of the most underrated games in SNES history.
