this was my first keyboard when i was a kid!! i still have it!! i spent so many hours fiddling around with the different voices, learning different songs, and writing my own songs!! love that keyboard!!
I just pulled it out of a back room from when we bought it for my granddaughter when she was 10! She's 21 now and I'm 64 and I'm finding it so much fun!
I bought the PSR 170 in 2010 along with the PSR 225, I paid 50 bucks for both of them together, and I still gig with them to this very day, impeccable piano samples and two God damned good speakers......
@@skippercrj0548 It's a good option to begin with but it's only drawback for recording is the fact it doen't have pressure sensitive keys so that might put you off. But if you just wanna mess around on keyboard it's a great thing to have and it can also be great for making 80s styled music
No joke: I was in sixth grade when I came across a PSR-175 and I remember how absolutely similar it was to the CASIO keyboards: same accompaniment arrangement, 100 of tones, rhythms, and songs, and I didn't know it was a YAMAHA until I watched one of KeyboardKrazy49's videos showcasing the demo songs on the PSR-170 a few years later.
The keyboard doesn't actually support pitch bending (and RPN) even from MIDI, however you can trick a pitch bending note to play on this keyboard by playing a note, sending a Portamento Control controller to the current note, then playing the next high or low note, giving the impression of a pitch bender that only goes into senitones (but not smooth).
Paid $4.00 about 6 months ago "as-is" from a local thrift store, which only means it didn't include batteries (that of course cost more than what I paid for the Yamaha). Nice keyboard and comfortable size to play. Now,if I can only find a baby grand for a similar bargain.
Maybe get a piano for free if someone in your family doesn't need it anymore.. it's moving it, many want to get rid of piano's if they have given up on tuning it every so often which costs if not tuning it one self.. Have you tested the yamaha to see if all functions work as expected?
Quick Question: Is there a Drive to simply record to your computer? Not a digital music platform but something that is enabled with the keyboard that had the capability of recording keys played?
Excellent friend channel ... !! One question, what kind of yamaha models can the yamaha DX7 piano-like bench have .... ?? perhaps the YP models will have it .. ?? I use these PSRs to connect them with Midi, in the kontakt but there are no DX7 pianos
@@gearfacts tis a shame the 90's era keyboards with slides and pads would be so crazy these days if they had modern USB midi cc type function as a control and DAW midi controller / interface.
Does it support sensitive touch? I need to know because I am blind and I don’t know how to find that information. If you hit the keys soft do they sound soft and if you hit the keys hard does it sound hard? That is my question.
If you can already play a bit, you might find at the piano sounds a little bit weak. I guess if the price was really low, then it might be worth it but take the time to shop for something a little bit better :)
Mind if I ask how one obtains all these classic keyboards? Do you keep them in a collection? I love your channel and I'm always on the look out for these at thrift stores. Wish I came across more
First of all, thanks for your enthusiasm for Gearfacts. I'm really trying to give people a close look at the boards. I get them through gumtree, facebook marketplace and sometimes ebay. I pay for them and then try to get my money back when I sell them after doing the review. Simple :) One great thing about these old keyboards is that they were built really well, they never seem to die.
Can you get song tutorials that don’t come on the piano? Idk how to explain it properly. But when you click song it gives you a lesson on how to play the song. Can you somehow add songs that don’t come on the piano to the piano? I hope you understand what I’m trying to say

One thing I can say is that this keyboard has some heavy sound coming from the speakers, great for mid size live performances aswell as midi use..

No

Now I have the exact same keyboard but when I play it has a loud taping sound. I just wondering if you guys know how to fix it.
Hmm, just a guess but it sounds like some strong interference coming from another device nearby. Does it do it on headphones too?
I have that midi keyboard as well
How can you hook speakers up to this keyboard, mine isn't very loud
I would just put a pair of computer speakers into the headphone socket
