    ODOO SECURITY ADMINISTRATION
Odoo has a powerful security framework that allows you great flexibility in configuring your Odoo. In this video, I will help you understand the Odoo Security Framework.
    GROUP INHERITANCE
One of the primary goals of this video is to clearly explain group inheritance. Group inheritance allows you to specify all of the access rights, record rules, menus, and views for the users with the most restrictive access to any given model. Then you can 'inherit' from that most restrictive access group to provide additional access rights, menus, views, and record rules to additional users. This inheritance mechanism allows you complete control of your security implementation in Odoo while dramatically reducing the time to maintain the permissions for individual groups.
    ACCESS RIGHTS
Access rights determine which models a given group of users is allowed access to. You can specify create, read, write, and delete access permissions for each model.
ALLOWING ACCESS TO MENUS & VIEWS
When defining a group you can specify which menus & views that group of users will have access to. Menus & Views also obey the group inheritance functionality so you only have to specify the menus for a given group that extend from your internal users or the most groups.
    RECORD RULES
Record Rules allow you to specify domains (conditions) that will limit the access to specific records in a model. This features gives you almost unlimited flexibility in deciding exactly which records a user can access. In this video we look at the "Own Documents" vs "All Documents" groups inside the sale application.

Hello this was a great video. What i want to do in Odoo is in a company to create 2 departments with 7 users. 3 users can have acess in 2 departments for sales , crm admin rights but 2 users of one department can only see their department. The same thing for the other department with 2 users they can see only their actions , the only thing that must be shared for both departments is contacts.

    Hi Greg,
    great video! ;)
i am currently trying to add some custom access rights in odoo 13. I want Employees to only see their own timesheet entries in module "Timesheet", "Project/Task", ... at every point they can see timesheet entries, i want them only to see their own.
I tried it with a custom record rule but i don´t get it to work
    Hope you can help me!
