- In this video I'm talking about a new book published by Matthew Ellul:
Beethoven for Classigal Guitar
This awesome book includes 50 arrangements with tabs and sheet music! There are lots of pieces I've never even heard of, and I'm sure they have never been transcribed to classical guitar either.
The book is available now on Amazon! You can buy the it in multiple languages here (Please note that that this is an affiliate link, so by purchasing the book I also make a small commission):

Thank you for your insight 😊 I just now order my copy! I can't wait to try some of these pieces for the first time!
The English link goes to Amazon USA ($ prices).
Could you add an affiliate link for Amazon UK (£ prices) ?
@andrewgrant9782 Andrew that's so thoughtful of you! Unfortunately I'm not registered in the UK Amazon so just feel free to buy it with a normal link. But I very much appreciate that you asked me for an affiliate link :)
I’m one of those 60+ students. Beatrix is an amazing teacher.
And I’m so happy to have you on board! 😊
I photo copy. Then slice the notation lines, leaving out the tabs. I then old school scotch tape these staffs to a piece of copy paper. I then scan the piece meal music sheet and save as a PDF file and move it to my iPad Forscore app. Limited page turns, no unwanted tabs, and back lit, so no stand light needed. Arrange in any set order. How I roll. Learning to read notation best thing I ever did.
I’m looking forward to hear you play some pieces from the book ??😊that could entice me to buy it
Absolutely! I recorded Für Elise maybe 2 weeks ago based on this book, here it is: ruclips.net/video/ComizNxQIX8/видео.html
Can't wait to get it!!!
Great review! 👍
Thanks!
I have the book and its fantastic!!! ❤
Great introduction - thank you!
My pleasire, glad you like it!
Nice review Beatrix !
Very good recommendation.
Greetings from Mexico
Thanks so much!
It would be great if there was a notation only edition! It always annoys me having to turn pages on longer pieces with tabs lines that would have been able to fit on two pages without the tabs. That being said, I’ll check this book out! Great review!
Oh wow that is awesome great review beatrix am sold I need to get this book! Haha love that it has tabs cause that's how I learned to play guitar hopefully one day I can be a student of your would be an honor p.s. am away under 60 so small notes won't be a problem for me lol
ive never played Beethoven on the guitar so this will be a great book to start thank you for sharing this
Good, luck! Make sure to check out the recordings of the songs, they are really helpful to get an idea on how each songs sound like
Thanks for this helpful review. Since the book contains TAB I will order a copy but without TAB it would be a non starter. I make TAB only arrangements using the free software Musescore and it allows all standard notation markings, (rhythm info, rests, articulation symbols, barres, voltas etc), to be used with TAB so there is really no loss of information compared with notation. The only deficiency is a visual one: because notation is analogue, you can see the shape of the music, i.e. it looks like it sounds.
best teacher and an amazing person
aww thank you!!
Thanks.
Excellent review❤ HOWEVER , I would like to point out that the intro to Fur Elise is really a matter of personal preference. I like the sound of the open string ringing while playing the B string fretted at the 4th fret. It gives a beautiful harp like quality. I try to incorporate that effect when & wherever possible. Just my preference. I GOTTA get a copy of the book! Thanks for the insight!
Thanks for sharing your perspective!
Great session. I hear what you’re saying with “tabs”. I’m not sure if I’ve seen many classically oriented books with tabs.
Great video. Enjoy me some Beethoven no matter on which instrument!
That's the attitude! Thank you! :)
Nice notes about it which makes Beatrix such a star.
You're too kind, thanks!
Great video, much love from Miami
Miami? That's so cool! Hugs from Budapest!
You’re some sort of angel I think.
Hey! I can see just fine! as long as I have my glasses
Nice to get to see a book before you buy I find tabs is like playing battleships - 4 strings down and 6 across, 3 up and 11 across - enough to drive you crazy I say
glad you think so, I think this book can make a good addition to any intermediate guitarist's collection :)
Have you heard this version of Fur Elise? I think it is by far the best version of the piece for guitar. I always hate it when I learn a piece and then later find a significantly better version and have to learn it all over. Like the standard version of jesu joy, and then I found the parkining version, or the Canon in D....
Another one is the 4 seasons by vivaldi, one of my most favorite places of music, Emre Sabuncuoglu, has an incredible version. Incredibly hard, but beautiful.
Sorry such o long comment , but I think it's well worth the time to really research the available transcriptions before spending the time to memorize.
I'm not in to buying a book about Beethoven or something, but this video was so entertaining and well produced that it kept me until the end.
haha that's so good to hear, I experiment a lot with these videos and I'm happy to hear when people find it engaging and interesting to watch!
Nice work, and amazing sense of taste Bea, keep it up!@@beatrixguitar
Amazing
thank you!
Hi from Iran
6:28 MÓJ PIERWSZY BLUES - My First Blues. You even included Polish accent Beatrix. How nice of you. Cheers!
Well... Beethoven is not my pint of a lager. But a book with pieces from The X-Files, Mortal Kombat, some gothic music and black metal would be a great thing, to check out on classical guitar. Such author could also include even symphonic pieces like Gustav Holst's - Mars.
Great video! I haven't been subbed for a long time but already your channel is amongst my favorites to broaden my horizons as a musician! Thanks!
I'm so happy to read that, I find it hard to stick with one kind of content, like music only or technique only, so I'm really happy that the versatile content makes you feel that it expands your horizon!
It's amazing! Really great and honest review! 😊
I tried my best, thanks! :)
I agree that Beethoven's music is not fit for the classical guitar format. I think the main reason could be because Beethoven uses lots of register shifts throughout sections, which guitarists are forced to shift up or down a couple octaves to make it fit on the guitar, but once that's been done it doesn't resemble the music any more.
Beethoven DOES have some nice solo piano pieces though, that only span around 3-4 octaves most of the time. I've heard spectacular solo guitar arrangements of the Pathetique adagio no.8 op.13.
Hi Beatrix i wanna ask you some questions
1. why are you not apply job become music teacher at school maybe?
2 why are you not make it second channel for just how play guitar and how to choose easy classic music for amateurs or beginner player?
Oh I don't think that there's a music school that can pay me enough to do it as a full time job :D I do teach but only 5-6 students per week so I don't burn out and have motivation to help them improve their skills. :) About the second part, I'm happy to run just one channel for now :)
Thx For The Answer :)@@beatrixguitar
Fall in love❤ with me with your guitar in one hand....its a poetic composition 🎼
Oh I love books like these and I have stacks of them , you could get it spiral bound yourself if it’s a book you really serious about , as re the tab the publishers just insist on this or else just won’t sell enough copies ,author has no choice ,
Great video , I doubt will buy this particular book though
I am ordering this book but I wouldn't without the TAB.
@@andrewgrant9782 I’d guess that the case with 75 % of purchases
Hocam sadece Beethoven’in eserlerindenmi oluşuyor yoksa karma bi kitap mı?
on air hehehe
I prefer Moonlight Sonata on classical guitar to piano. And by that I mean listening to it
Great, but I wish there was a version without the tabs to make the score more compact to read.
Oh right, strong point! Maybe the author would make a pdf download of the book sheet music only version for people who already bought the book.
I wish there was a version without notation for the same reason! A PDF would be a great solution but could end up in the public domain.
BTW, your mom should get a Kindle. You can change the size of the font and it makes it easier to read
I'll convince her one day, she is just so resilient against the simplest technology even haha :D But fair point!
@@beatrixguitar I have a good friend that felt the same way. He got an iPad for Christmas, and you can’t separate him from it for love or money. so you never know.
@@russpalmeri yeeeeah same for me but, I don't mean to complain, just putting things into perspective, most hungarian people I know make 500-800 usd on a monthly basis, some maybe 1000 bucks and iPads still cost 800-1000 bucks here too so getting stuff like that is really not an option for everyone here :D but once I got the chance to buy one I also realised how big of a help it is every day and luckily it's very durable, so you are fine with one for quite some time
Do you teach guiter?
If yes, how can I contact you?
I do teach, drop me an email to info@beatrixguitar.com
That depends. For my own personal enjoyment I would play them. I personally would never care to see a professional classical guitarist do it.
That's a fair point, luckily the book targets advancing beginners to intermediate players :)
If you want listen to my arrangements piao concerto n1 and 3 for solo guitar
Cantik 🙃
