It never ceases to blow my mind when I see how much good stuff is thrown away. It should be criminal to throw away good stuff. Such an incredible waste. Thank god for people like Shannon who recovers the stuff and donates it.
I just found your channel last night and have been watching a lot of your videos. As a foster mama, THANK YOU for thinking of our foster youth! If you ever find backpacks, duffel bags, totes or the like, those are also great to donate to DCFS/CPS/DHS whatever it’s called where you are so that the social workers can keep those in their vehicles when they do removals instead of having to use garbage bags (yes this still happens and it’s so demeaning for our kiddos).

Wow! As a crafter I love seeing your hauls from stores Michaels and Joanne's, although as you say, they're happy to write perfectly good stuff off rather than donate it. Thanks to you, so many children are going to be delighted with all these goodies. For children who have hardly anything, something small like a little pack of stickers can bring so much joy, so huge thanks for rescuing all these goodies and thinking of others. By the way, those plastic gadgets you found could be pompom makers - ideal for all that yarn you found.

What you do for others is inspiring.
I became a foster child at age 14. I didn't receive anything like what you guys do. A social worker picks you up takes you to their office and you just wait while they call house after house asking if they have room for you like a lost pup. If no one can you hang with others who didn't get one too in group "home" (old school gym). It's truly a blessing to them. You are making a difference. You are an angel doing powerful work. Thank you for sharing this journey.

That was an awesome score!! Even being placed with family is not easy. The kids that understand what is happening are upset and may be angry and scared. Kids not able to understand are upset and scared. I know how that feels. I had things to do to help ease the stress. It really does help. Take care and stay safe. Sending prayers and love for Beth. Those are Clover pompom makers. (The blue and white round things).
You wrap yarn around them on both sides, close it, cut in the grooves, wrap another piece around and tie, take it off and you have a pompom.
It makes me sick to think of all this fantastic stuff headed for the landfill. I so admire you and Beth and Tara for all you do for the kiddos. Be blessed and stay safe and warm on your dives in this crazy weather.

You are right about price of yarn. Even on sale it's crazy. I make baby blankets and hats to donate. People check reusit stores, Goodwill and wherever for donated yarn.

I think those blue doo hickeys are pom pom makers. You wrap yarn around, tie it off, and then cut the yarn loops to make the pom poms.

Shannon, you are AMAZE-BALLS!!! I live in Kentucky and the storm hit here pretty hard too, so I feel ya !! My water was froze for a week and then I discovered a busted pipe. I have no transportation of my own and it seemed no one could get to me. I'm going to be looking at some very high bills come February. I'm also on a fixed income, so wish me luck!! You reminded me of all the snow that New York got and all the misplaced people, all the homeless children. The shelters have to be filled over capacity! Shannon I am a 66 year old grandmother who raised her son and daughter, then when daughter went on drugs I got custody of my two grandchildren and they were with me until they moved out on their own. I am so amazed by you and all that you do your heart is so full of love and your kids are very lucky. God bless you for all you do for these kids.

Aww poor beth I feel your pain. The longest I went with zero sleep was 9 days before I passed out sitting up in bed. Woke up like 15 hours later! Insomnia is horrible!!!! Yea i know lol… I meant I wonder why they were using it for the craft day unless it was just a return , which it could of been
They also use the paper in crafts for if you take a leaf and take a crayon on its side and color over it. It'll make a pretty trace of the leaf. I remember doing that in school.
