Yes it's very hard being a foster kid but it is the hardest on the kids over 16. I'm glad they have all that stuff to do to keep their mind off of things. Thank you

It never ceases to blow my mind when I see how much good stuff is thrown away. It should be criminal to throw away good stuff. Such an incredible waste. Thank god for people like Shannon who recovers the stuff and donates it.

I just found your channel last night and have been watching a lot of your videos. As a foster mama, THANK YOU for thinking of our foster youth! If you ever find backpacks, duffel bags, totes or the like, those are also great to donate to DCFS/CPS/DHS whatever it’s called where you are so that the social workers can keep those in their vehicles when they do removals instead of having to use garbage bags (yes this still happens and it’s so demeaning for our kiddos).
Wow! As a crafter I love seeing your hauls from stores Michaels and Joanne's, although as you say, they're happy to write perfectly good stuff off rather than donate it. Thanks to you, so many children are going to be delighted with all these goodies. For children who have hardly anything, something small like a little pack of stickers can bring so much joy, so huge thanks for rescuing all these goodies and thinking of others. By the way, those plastic gadgets you found could be pompom makers - ideal for all that yarn you found.
Makes me want to dive at the michaels that doesn't do the grab boxes

I became a foster child at age 14. I didn't receive anything like what you guys do. A social worker picks you up takes you to their office and you just wait while they call house after house asking if they have room for you like a lost pup. If no one can you hang with others who didn't get one too in group "home" (old school gym). It's truly a blessing to them. You are making a difference. You are an angel doing powerful work. Thank you for sharing this journey.

That was an awesome score!! Even being placed with family is not easy. The kids that understand what is happening are upset and may be angry and scared. Kids not able to understand are upset and scared. I know how that feels. I had things to do to help ease the stress. It really does help. Take care and stay safe. Sending prayers and love for Beth. I think those blue doo hickeys are pom pom makers. You wrap yarn around, tie it off, and then cut the yarn loops to make the pom poms.

Those are Clover pompom makers. (The blue and white round things).
You wrap yarn around them on both sides, close it, cut in the grooves, wrap another piece around and tie, take it off and you have a pompom.
Your amazing haul is going to keep a lot of kids busy and happy for awhile. And to go out in the freezing cold, your awesome

Shannon, you are AMAZE-BALLS!!! I live in Kentucky and the storm hit here pretty hard too, so I feel ya !! My water was froze for a week and then I discovered a busted pipe. I have no transportation of my own and it seemed no one could get to me. I'm going to be looking at some very high bills come February. I'm also on a fixed income, so wish me luck!! As someone commented, the round gidget is a pom pom maker. You were also correct with the purple item. They are tape runners for card making, etc. You found mega $$$ in the Michaels bags. Those sharpies and bunch craft stuff woulsve literally made my 15daughters life to find all that for free and just to have she draws and crafts with sharpies and school projects all the time. She would've died seeing all that stuff. We found brand new set of paint brushes from there once. Loves them. Usually just find broken candles that still burn just fine tho. Shannon I am a 66 year old grandmother who raised her son and daughter, then when daughter went on drugs I got custody of my two grandchildren and they were with me until they moved out on their own.
