Rods toy box Oh yeah; casting was pretty dang great for most of them. So many of the good decisions made for this movie get buried under the fact that it didn't turn out great as a whole. But MAN they had some mighty fine ingredients, at least.

I feel the bones of a *great* movie are here. Langella is of course magnificent, but Dolph Lundgren was a perfect physical casting choice for He-Man, and his acting wasn't completely awful. A little coaching and he would have been excellent in the role. What did the film in is its limited budget. It forced them to do the whole Earth storyline, and kept them from staying on Eternia.
Dude...thus is THE movie of my childhood. I watched it so many times I truly lost count. I owned it on bluray and every now and then I pop it in and enjoy! Its my one true guilty pleasure!! Frank Langella IS Skeletor!! Doesn't get better. Now.....kneel before your master!

The psychology in this scenario has always been a masterpiece. The relationship between the queen-type of woman who serves Skeletor to affirm him holding the power, yet he knows he would be nothing without Evil-Lyn, and yet hes aware among his kind, shes the type who would betray him at the first opportunity while the others are seemingly loyal just for reasons of fear. As a super class villain he holds the despair of being able to trust no one. At times, he ignores it, disperging his thoughs into the mind of the woman who lusts to find a way to kill him but is also attracted to his power. As Tiberius in Caligula said, he's pleased by the thought to feed a venomous reptile at the breasts of rome. This vibe in between the Lord and the witch, within she must be trembling, knowing his mood can turn and break her anytime but still she is bold enough to feed him both with "no one matches your power... hence you must....." (manipulate him into what he has to do). Evil-Lyn is the most complex MOTU character. She utilizes instincts incl. sex, her loyalty is based upon the attraction to power and to the person who holds it. in this egoism theres no loyalty to a person as an individual. She displays inferiority (to excel and be essential and subservience), full of flattering, wickedness and the role of both, an adviser and a right hand, dagger in her left. Imagine Skeletor holding your face seeking answers in you like in a child, because he needs those moments, unable to trust anybody, ignoring all fact he knows youre the last one to be trusted. In order to be Master of the universe, driven by greed, theres only alliances, never friendships. It's awesomely deep.
I love his exasperated dismissal at the end, "...GO!" Like, "God DAMN it, you've already failed me once, I've given you new instructions, and you're STILL standing here like I didn't just issue a command. GO!"

I always got the impression that Skeletor was Evil Lynn's boss first, and her fuck buddy second. The first part of the scene is very "weird", like there's something going on.
I love that Foster said her costume was painful and cut into her but instead of getting it altered, she decided to use it to force her to remain upright and rigid as she moved, as it looked more better for the character. The poor actor who played the one who got vaporised had to constantly blow into a tube to get the neck to inflate, which must be been exhausting while doing the other acting.
And no one at this time thought that Skeletor and Evil Lyn were married and now everyone knows that they are item. This film really helped to lay the foundations of their relationship.
I took my younger cousin to the cinema to see this when it first came out. I seem to remember that it was much better than I expected it to be. Haven't seen it since but I reckon that I will have to re-watch it sometime soon.
I think that was the point….fishes out of water, at least that’s what the producers were going for. However I believe it would’ve been a much more compelling movie had it stayed fully on Eternia.
Any one notice saurod knew he was gonna kill one of them, and went for his gun which he pulls out slightly to late. Pretty cool that he was gonna try and shoot skeletor first, sadly for him he hesitated to long.
Should been karg.. As he lead the mission.. And should of taken the fáll.. Then have evil lynn take charge... Saurod was more a fighter... Karg wasn't.. But I think if they had of shown a brief close up of Saurod grabbing his pistol... Then the question and reason would of been clear of his demise.. For the viewers..

I just rewatched this scene….as many times as I watched this movie I never noticed Saurod going for his gun until now…..it makes sense now why Skeletor executed him……
I just noticed that when Skeletor raised his hand to Saurod, that Saurod pulled his pistol and you can hear two "pew-pew" sounds like he was supposed to have fired and missed Skeletor but it got left out of edit. (edit: I saw it. The Pew-pew was Skeletor blasting Saurod twice). But.... Personally I think that would've been cool and made Saurod like a "Anti-Boba-Fett" character. "Oh you gonna kill me, but I ain't going out like know Ahhh! You Mutha! F! you Skeletorrrrrrrr!" Still kinda went out like "Greedo" though. ... Skeletor shot first!
You can tell Skeletor and Evil-Lyn we’re bumping nasties; not just by him caressing her face while “scolding” her, but by the fact that she even thought she could “share” her opinion not once, but twice-especially when he’s clearly not in the mood to hear it. And that parting look she gave him, before she turns to leave just screams “my mother was so right about you! Send ME away? Fine! Maybe I’ll just STAY away. Go to earth, capture He-man, grab the key for Mr. Numb Nuts over there, and then I am going. To. My. Sisters!”

Krag should've gotten the hammer! Saurod had the coolest costume. I really didn't enjoy this movie overall. Some of the actors did a really good job considering what parts they had, but I wish it would've stuck more to the cartoon. As many of you have said in the comments, the Evil Lyn actress did a great job in the movie. There is a interview online with Pons Maar about his role as Saurod. It's a really good read.
Well if you think you're about to get treated poorly by your evil overlord/employer and it's going to leave you with a severe case of dead, you might as well give it your all and hope you're faster on the draw.

I used to have a toy of the lizard guy he had a play feature that let him spit sparks out of his mouth. A bit gutted when they killed him.

No one want to see the Earth and funny images of earthlings amazed by watching he-man and teela arriving. These "cliches" were already used by star trek and some other movies. The movie without Merman, Triclops, Stratos, Eternia and Snake Mountain had little value for children.
