Hey Dave, Good to see you again! Firewood cutting season in the U P! Brings back some great memories! I even still have the Stihl Wood Boss 028 AV that I bought up there in 1979/1980! Have cut a lot of wood with that old saw....some in the U P....some in Indiana....some in Minnesota....some in Missouri and some in New Mexico! Back in the U P....a buddy and I each used to order a full, 10-cord load of wood each Spring. We had the cant hooks for ease in moving those 8-foot logs around to cut and the axes and mauls to do the splitting. Nothing like going out when it was -10 below wearing only jeans and a t-shirt and end up swinging a 10/12# maul to split wood for over an hour! The wood would just explode when it was that cold! Eventually, we figured out it was better/quicker to rent the gas-splitter for the weekend, share the cost and get wood split for both our homes. Good times! I had an Ashley wood stove to start with and then moved on to a wood furnace before the Air Force sent me elsewhere. Hope you have a great Fall!
Great to hear from you Larry! It's been crazy warm up here. As I write this I'm taking a break from cutting. Too hot to cut steady. I'm probably going in the pool afterward. In a pool, end of September in the U.P. very strange.
Cold air is better! We were cutting week before last also. Too dang hot. Glad to see you using the safety gear. I still have lots to go. A good set of helpers is awesome.
Nice work, Dave. Northern Finnland had first snow last week.😊
Wow!
